I agree with the director's idea here. Why do we need to go crazy over Hollywood superheroes like Spiderman, Avengers, Batman, Dunn etc etc...when we have such rich history of our own superheroes? As i said many times, you can make x5 Bahubali like movies on every single character of Mahabharata . How many knew who Awashthama was before this movie? Hardly anyone. But Amitabh B played his role and now, the whole country knows who Awashthama was . You can actually make a 3 hours movie only on this one character called Awashthama . Full of emotions and actions...such is Mahabharata.So yes, without the Mahabharata connect, i don't think this movie called Kalki would have done well.
If Indians are stupid, then without Mahabharatam connect, the Indian audience wouldn't support the movie. Intelligent audience support great attempts that sets a new bar.
but the sad thing is that , these scriptures and stories exist In India , where people want to see chapri movies like kgf and pushpa , directors want to put cringe hero worshipping and love angle even in movie like kalki , our industry just cannot make a serious piece of art on these stories , imagine if these texts were in west , by now they would have made 100s of masterpeice movies on ramayana and mahabarata , the writers and filmmakers in Hollywood are so talented that they have made fictional masterpiece like lotr and game of thrones , and here we are still craving for that chapri hero worshipping , kalki would have been actually a masterpeice if they had made it like a serious epic by sticking to the source material and do extensive research and creative world building like no other movie to represent India , rather than just take the basic premise , put generic concepts from other movies and add cringe masala element in it ,which obviously they did , its so saddening to see that we have stories which are 100 times greater than west , but our filmmakers are such dumbass that they keep fooling the audience , except rajamouli who actually make serious stories on grand scale , only he can handle these kind of movies in current time

Kalki is beyond masterpiece. It's a game changer. The level of detailing that went to the world building is marvelous. They were very specific with colors, quality of clothes, material of outfits, structure of the cities down to it's detail. They created a new world from scratch. They created their own synthetic diet relevant to that timeline. To think so deeply enough to not have contradiction itself deserves an applause. He is one of their very very few directors in the whole world to do that. First half was fantastic. The "slow" aspects of first half is necessary for world building. Kalki is certainly ahead of its time. It's a game changer like Bahubali

Prabhas with a worst reviews could mint 100crs on Day 1. In fact every director he worked with after Baahubali 2 is a new comer. Any other star need a Hit established director to do the same at the B.O. KALKI is a risk for Prabhas and Vyjayanti invested on Prabhas. One thing for sure Prabhas will hopefully never associate with Bollywood again after Adipurush. It is not abt money but abt vision. Many actor tried bug budget films but not everyone suits for Larger than lfie roles.
