There are 2 asian heritage months in the UK. South Asian month in mid July to mid August and East Asia and South East Asian month in September.

I recently enjoyed a visit to the Kingsway Tram subway, organised through the London Transport Museum. The excellent guide told us of other ventures being organised by the museum, including a 'celebration of the contribution of the Windrush generation to London Transport'. Now, here's a funny thing. According to a former LT bus driver with whom I spoke in the mid-1970's, a significant proportion of the Windrush generation who were hired as bus crews in the capital in the 1950's-60's ended up parting company with LT, often because of differences of opinion over what constituted 'punctuality' and 'reliability'. So, I wonder what kind of 'contribution' to London Transport by these people the museum is going to 'celebrate' here? Possibly something along the same lines as their contribution to inventing the light bulb, etc. etc., or to British history from the time of Hadrian's wall (including Anne Boleyn of course, who, as we all now know, had a very deep sun tan)?
