  • This is a slide show made up of photos from back in time in Palm Springs. You might find someone you know, or a photo that you posted. I added music by Dean Martin "It's 1,200 Mile From Palm Springs To Texas", Frankie Capp Orchestra & Keely Smith "Palm Springs Jump", Cat Stevens "Oh Very Young", Don McLean "American Pie". Enjoy and share! Watch the sequel to this slide show at • Palm Springs Back In T...

Wow! You have no idea how precious this is to me. My family (Chalfont) moved to PS Jun 1947 (I was 6 mos old). From the time I was 10 I started photographing the Desert Circus Parade, Rodeos, the deserts, friends and events. Sadly my home burned in 98 - photos gone. PS was magical then. I knew the majority of celebrities as did most everyone else. Easter Week what fun! Tahquitz my love. I worked for Howard Haddock City swim program 59-64 n the Angels Concession 2yrs. Thank you, Jeanne Chalfont

Thanks for this video! I lived in Palm Springs from 1968 to 1974. I was in my teens then and it was an amazing place. The indoor ice rink in the mall when it was 110 degrees outside was great!I had a part time job driving around town helping an air conditioning repairman so I went to a lot of those restaurants and nice homes. What no picture of an Elvis house? He had at least two there. I was lucky to have lived there during that time period. It was really special then, and the movie stars were indeed part of the community and were seen around town often.

Wonderful clip! I first came to PS Easter wknd '63 & had breakfast at Sambo's. I knew then I'd live here someday, albeit 40 yrs later. Driving down valley on 111, seeing nothing but citrus groves on the south side, towns like Rancho Mirage & Palm Desert were just emerging. What a great place to grow up, to raise kids, to spend one's golden years! For me it's as close to paradise as it gets in this country.

Thank you....I moved to Palm Springs in 1963 when I was 8 years old. I remember driving down Palm Canyon and knowing just about everyone that you would see walking on the sidewalks. A few times we would see Red Skeleton walking or driving down Palm Canyon and he would wave to everyone.

Great memories! My family moved to Palm Springs July of 1960. I started at PSHS that September, and my Dad (Chuck Jandreau) was a teacher there. What wonderful memories of 1960 to 1965! (Plus having a winter home there from 1998 to 2000. I still come
down in the winter for a couple of weeks, or even a month. But nothing is as wonderful as it was in the 1960's!) Thanks for the wonderful slides! Marle Jandreau (now living in Klamath Falls, Oregon)

my parents and uncle had homes in PS from the early 40's through 2001. we were ohio residents so I was out there at all my vacations in the 60's & 70's. I was a frequent visitor of Andy the donkey man. was disappointed there was only one photo of him. And nothing about Doris of the Desert. some restaurants that were staples in the 60's, 70's and 80's and maybe into the 90's are also missing. they weren't glamorous but they were the old standbys. I would love to see more info on Andy and definitely photos, he is the reason I own donkeys today.

You have to talk about the weather. No air conditioners! Ice delivered to your house and water coolers. Burn your behind sitting in the car. Wear gloves in summer to not burn your hands on the steering wheel. Open the car windows for the blast furnace and close them for the oven effect. 130 degrees in the sun. 128 in the shade. The red barron plane flies overhead. Buy your clothes to not sweat to death and or show sweat stains on your back chest or under arms. Yes but the mountains stayed the same.
