that was actually a really clever way of breaking the fourth wall
Unless I'm wrong, they didn't actually break the fourth wall - they merely moved it. Breaking the fourth wall is when they speak to or notion towards the audience directly, not the "audience/commentators" within the skit, that are part of the skit.

They are just making fun of their past fuck-ups Leslie got lost like that on one episode with Chris Rock and Kyle got a lot of hatred because of the way he impersonated the Pope, and Kenan saying he's been on the show for 62 years because he's been there for a long time. That is just them making fun of shit they did

I feel like this sketch was deliberately made for Leslie because remembering lines, refraining from using cue cards, and not breaking character are things she didn’t really excel at on SNL. So, for her to give both an awareness and response is pretty amazing. 🤣

DEMON GOT ME if that's the case, why don't you come for the writers instead of the performer then? Or inform her that she doesn't need to only play this archetype in order to be funny. But why spread hate, that takes you nowhere except backwards.
It's not her fault. They pidgeonhole their black actors, especially the women. Sasheer barely ever plays important characters and Leslie is almost always a stereotype. A few years ago it was the exact same with the men and it hasn't improved much today (Kenan is usually the same basic character even though he has a lot of seniority, I personally think he's a boring actor and that's part of why). Leslie at least gets to show off her talent and seems to like both subversion and support of tropey characters but it really frustrates me that the Sasheer's stand up proves she's hilarious and should be getting much more dynamic roles. She's acting like half the time of any of the white cast members and Kenan got away with blaming it on her ability even though she has a much larger range than him and is much more creative, it really pisses me off. The actors are really limited by the show and writing, I wouldn't blame Leslie but instead look at how female and/or black actors are treated on the show
