My childhood JRT lived to be 19! We would leave a small bath in his yard and he would jump in and dig/splash/bite the water. It was like crack for him 😂

I suggest a Red Poddle, they are so funny. Easy to train, they look like teddy Bears. Very smart.
I've had Bull Terriers and now I have a 8month Bull Terrier and a Red poddle.

More than anything else, JRTs hate being ignored.
Definitely trembles from hearing unknown noises but is fearless against much bigger animals
Some JRT love water, some dont. Generally all dogs hate baths.

So does mine. The only thing she hates is when they leave. So when we get mail delivered, she doesn't bark at postal workers because she hates them. She does it because she likes them and wants then to stick around.

My JRT loves indoors so much lmao. He would just run around loudly to wake you up when he needs to piss outside or take a dump then wait for him and He'll get back inside.

I've got a little 9 year old Jackie but my mother in law had 2 sister Jackies, one was the pick of the litter the other a runt. Runt lived to 21 and the pick over 22 years old. I was still using them for killing mice well into their late teens

Mine is 16 and a little slow and wobbly but sometimes he runs around and plays like a puppy and it warms my heart ❤ may both our dogs have years in them yet
My JRT was the complete opposite of this. She was amazing. It all goes back to the care you put into Their training
Its the reallity....my jack is 15years old...they are trustfull but very intelligent....if you understand them...and take the time to understand them...because very smart...then you will have the best dog..thats for sure😢
Mine howls when sirens go by and he does this shriek bark when someone unknown shows up.

We had to put down our Jack Russell today, 😢 his name was Lenny and he lived to be 16 years old (he is the one on my profile picture) he was starting to feel sick a couple of weeks ago and it only got worse. That led us to the hard decision of putting him down. Fly high lenny❤❤❤
I had a JRT that LOVED swimming (was a good thing we lived by a creek w/piers)!!!
He would retrieve anything from the water, even egrets, jellyfish and once a small child during a hurricane when it had flooded over the piers. On the first day we got him, at only a few weeks old, he walked into a
pond and dog paddle 😅! He was what we true owners called "Puddin' Jack" ; very very short legs and paunchy body. Also, he listened better than any dog I'd owned or breed I was familiar with. He listened so well that he knew, after listening to me tell him only once, the name of almost 100 toys and would find/fetch them at (my) first ask! He listened so well that he knew much of the English language and would react when he heard words in normal human conversation. WHEW - I know this is a lot and goes against a lot of what your video had to say - maybe you got a dud☺️!!

My Jack loved paddling around in still water, but refused to more than wade in water with a current.
Those tight little JRT paws work great for digging, but they're not much good for swimming. It takes only a very slow current to overpower a Jack.

lol my jack I had to remind her who’s the boss everyday. If I worked and didn’t come home the same time my jack was mad at me lol. My jack had lots of energy to play and such a loving dog god bless her

They are very protective. When I'm sitting in my vehicle waiting for my wife to come out of the store and someone comes up and wants to pet her, she starts to growl. And if they get closer she'll bark. They're very protective. So I have to make sure I only leave the window down enough so she can't get her whole head out the window in case I'm not paying attention or looking the other way. Don't want any accidents for sure. Some people don't know to ask if your dog can be petted. They are great dogs.😊

My JRT loves to swim in the pool and begs to get on a raft whenever it's in the pool. She also will jump up to the doorknob if she's left outside with my other dog

Try leaving them alone for small amounts of time, once they get comfortable enough slowly increase the time that they are alone, they should eventually get used to it and be much calmer( just be ready for them to jump on you out of happiness when you get back in the house though lol, it can be the sweetest thing to see)

That's strange my JRT "Gizmo" actually likes water. He doesn't waste any time jumping in and splashing around. Maybe he's just the exception I don't know. I take him with me when I go to the lake to swim. I introduced him to water at a young age though. The problem with him is I can't take him around other male dogs that much. He thinks he is a big tough dog and can take on anything. The last time I took him to the local park he nearly got jumped on by a big mastiff mixed breed that could have eaten him alive. It has earned him some extra time at home. I'm glad I had him on a leash and was able to pull him back in time. He is a good little dog though and smart he is able to do tricks like play dead and roll over bark yes or no things like that. Sounds don't bother him that much unless it is a loud shrill sound like a screech or a siren. He hates sirens or loud whistles and will bark and howl at them. He is hilarious if I'm sitting on my couch watching TV and fart he will run and bark at the front door. He is hyper and there is never a dull moment with him. There has been a couple of people that he didn't like very much upon meeting them like he got a bad vibe from them other than that he is usually pretty curious when somebody new is there. And if I stop petting him he will chew softly on my toes or at my hands and whimper. He also loves to chase small animals like squirrels he caught a small one once and chewed its tail off. The squirrel still comes around though I call him Bob for the Bobbed tail.

My 2 full grown Jack Russells love meeting strangers. They love other people. They are easy to give baths to & dont fight. But yes they love being petted & get jealous when the other is being petted! My boy listens very well & is highly intelligent but the girl is very stubborn.
Don't forget they are the most lovely dogs I have. 1 she loves to give me kisses.they are adorable
