    Boring tunnel: Looks to be making good progress, approximately 140m advance (10m per day). 7 people working on the segment preparation so they must be expecting better progress. Conveyor belt full of spoil, this is not normal, usually the belt is cleared before being stopped to avoid high loading or spoil raveling on re-start. Possibly a problem with the belt or belt drive. Another 60m or so and they will have to stop to extend the belt.

    • @kkarllwt
      @kkarllwt Před měsícem +3

      That was my thought . You don't try and start a loaded belt. To much mass to accelerate.

    • @DessieDoolan
      @DessieDoolan Před měsícem +4

      140m. Google earth shows that to be just into the median between the south and north lanes.
      I'm measuring from the back of the tail shield.

      It's a good thing that the belt system was built using Tesla's electric motors then. Surely they have enough torque and power to spare to start from zero even if fully loaded!

    • @davidsalisbury50
      @davidsalisbury50 Před měsícem +1

      @@eclecticmemesI very much doubt it was built with Tesla motors. The TBM wasn’t (very clearly visible on its delivery. Almost certainly ABB motors (4x300kw). I assume the belt system was purchased from a belt manufacturer, with the right specification motors and gearing for a conveyor belt drive.

    0:29. Southend south, apron. I always have a chuckle when I see someone working at ground level in a 80’ boom-lift.
    1:25. GA, diagonal corner. Level 3. Window infill stud wall demolished. Suggests some interconnection between the buildings, which in turn would suggest at least some of the Southend extension will be production.
    2:46. Pond. Getting smaller. As suggested by Gig0Surf the plan may to be make the pond shallower.
    8:49. Westside, Tunnel Project. Grout batch plant. Shifting the containerized water tanks.
    9:46. Westside. Far west. Blue water main. Meter installation at the likely point of connection to the city water supply.
    10:33. Tesla Road north. Temporary function centre. Mobile superchargers packed up and gone. A successful day apparently.
    11:39. Casting diagonal corner, apron. Line of trenches being cut in the pavement shows that the new ductbanks will be west of the existing ductbank in the parking lot. Line extends to the road.
    There’ll be a crossing or intersection of ductbanks at some point.
    12:10. Casting, east. Apron. Travis County site lists a 5 May permit for a permit revision of the Casting Baghouse Foundations might indicate the reason work has stopped outside Casting. If indeed the works outside Casting are definitely for the Baghouse.
    14:55. Far north, storage. Bottom. Shiny things. I thought windows initially. Seems to be polished stainless steel. Lots more at 15:04.
    15:20. Far north. Gilbert Rd. Pipeline works. Sanitary Sewer force main. Unrelated to Tesla, other than possibly being located in an easement on Tesla property.

      0:29 Guess he didn't want to get a 6' ladder. Sounds like something I would do. In the past, if someone wanted 5 bricks I would get the forklift to move the whole pallet to them rather then bend over and pick them up. 😊

      2:46 Because they are using the pond as a rainwater collection point, won't they need an outflow pipe to the river to be dug under the road they are constructing? My guess is that they are just changing the shape to be easily maintained. I would expect that Giga Texas would have a mosquito problem with the stagnant ponds. Can anyone confirm?

    @ 2:45 This pond is staying. The work they've done is clearly just taking the depth out of it, for safety and creating an engineered detention pond.

    • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn
      @DavidJohnson-tv2nn Před měsícem +1

      I sure hope you are wrong on this. The pond adds natural beauty. If it's made shallow to the point like it is @ 2:45 (Bottom right)... There won't be a pond. At least not a pond with water in it. Just a shallow hole in the ground. I hope the fill goes no farther than the point where they removed vegetation from the embankment. They've paved and flattened everything else in sight!

    • @timboatfield
      @timboatfield Před měsícem +4

      @@DavidJohnson-tv2nn It wouldn't be the fist time i've been wrong, but it seem clear. There are new culverts at the other end, which mean it has a watery future and the depth and form of the banks look clearly de/retention pond like. It may be a retention pond, like the cyber-pond, normally with water. Time will tell.
      How much of the existing 'nature' will remain is also to be seen. At some point an eco-paradise is turning up and I expect much of the site to be beautified, at no small expense.

    • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn
      @DavidJohnson-tv2nn Před měsícem

      @@timboatfield I hope you are right about the site being beautiful at some point. The guy who owns the place talked about an "eco-paradise". But his actions speak louder than words. So far.... They have paved nearly every sq. ft. in God awful concrete and asphalt. Concrete in itself isn't bad. But when there is almost zero landscaping, that's what I have a problem with. As for the pond....
      I don't care if they reshape it, as long as it continues to have water. This is what to avoid @ 12:44 an ugly mud pit with eroded sides! Because they couldn't be bothered to even finish erosion control or landscaping.

    • @timboatfield
      @timboatfield Před měsícem +2

      @@DavidJohnson-tv2nn Sorry, I'm not sure you know what you are talking about, either with this site specifically or factory sites generally. It is a factory with 10s of 1000s of people working there and even so have built on less that a fifth of their land there. Leaving most of it to nature. You seem to have unrealistic expectations and a generally negative bias. This factory IS still a work in progress.

    • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn
      @DavidJohnson-tv2nn Před měsícem

      @@timboatfield The berlin site is also a factory, landscaped and generally much cleaner looking. The point here not that there is much more untouched land. It is the massive amount of paving with little landscaping around the developed part. So if it could be done in Berlin, it could be done here. Don't know for sure, but have a feeling that they were required to do a better job in Berlin.

    River road:
    @ 2:44 Guessing that they will fill the pond to the point where they cleared vegetation from the embankment.
    EOL facility:
    @ 5:58 (Bottom right) Stacks of conduit. Likely to extend the duct-bank from the vaults seen here 7:08 to the west.
    @ 9:58 Looks like the water supply will be coming from the residential neighborhood to the west.
    New power supply to the factory:
    @ 10:49 (Bottom right) Newly placed vault. It will be interesting to see if the duct-banks continue straight or make a turn here to the west to meet up with the duct-banks on the other side of the easement. My guess is that it will turn here.
    @ 11:46 (Right, by the building. New vault placed. Unusual because I expected them to remove and replace the old vaults. Guess they will just fill in and build a new duct-bank right through the old vault? If they keep the other vault, changes will have to be made for 12 conduits.
