Aye it’s been a while since I last through a leg over the Beast - God I miss that bike! It’d mean losing the original fairings to get her back on the road - as a lot of them are held on with bungee chords! So I doubt she’ll be back on the road again.

Great review of the system and covered quite a few question points I had too. Probably only a matter of time til Yamaha etc follow suit with their own phone connectivity system.

Thank you for posting. With each new generation KTMs in general seem to improve by leaps and bounds. Great competition for the likes of BMW.
Yep they really are improving in terms of quality for sure. Only issues is the huge disparity in the dealer network - some are fantastic, others are horrendous.

Yeah I wasn’t expecting too much from the turn-by-turn navigation to be honest, but it’s not bad at all, especially if you a comms kit linked to your phone so you get voice command too 👍

Have a question if you had a choice between 3 bikes , Suzuki 1000 Vstroom, ktm1290, and Honda Africa twin all 2018 which one you choose? (%80 roads use and %20 off-road) thanks.
Clever stuff there by KTM and not as complicated as I first thought. The my ride app looks particularly useful.

Hi there, I hope this question hasn't already been answered. My helmet loses pairing every time I turn the bike off. What am I doing wrong?
Excellent video again👌 , I finde my 1290 SAS having trouble staying connected with my ride app every time I stop the engine to put on gas (or something) it doesn't automatically come on in the dashboard again which means I have to do all the pairing stuff to connect again ??? (could easily be me doing something wrong all maybe my phone is not doing well ) what are your experience?

No I didn’t have any issues with the MyRide app reconnecting to the bike on start up? I just connected once when I first got the app and it did it every time I switched the bike on.
Maybe try deleting the pairing and reconnecting it all again?

I think the KTM is more intuitive and easier to use and navigate.
But I think the BMW looks better personally.
Can every KTM TFT Display do navigation? I'm referring to the 790 Duke 2023, and I'm not sure, because the display looks slightly different.
Not ridden the 790 bud, check the KTM website
If I have a Dongle for my 1290 and I have my bike with ABS turned off, then I turn my ignition/dash off and then back on, will the Dongle keep ABS turned off? Or will it always turn ABS back on after the ignition/dash is turned off then on?

Ktm should provide this with every new bike supplied. For a percentage...

When I stop e.g for refueling the dashboard looses the BT connection with my iPhone and requires manual pairing,... super annoying.
Navigation on my 790 adventure never worked, been into 3 different dealers, none of them have been able to help.

All very pretty and everything but have ktm put electronics on their warranty now or something...coz that looks a really really expensive bit of kit to have to replace next year like most ktm dashboards.
Nice review !! However ... if you don't use a samsung ( mind you galaxy 7 and more , tested with galaxy A3 A5 and was not working ) or an iPhone....yer donzo. The compability of other phones is just hilarious...

Yeah , you would assume it would. I have the impression they focus more on superadventure bikes too. Why isn't the nav software not working on SDR's ?? Do they think at ktm that people with streetbikes don't need navigation ? :D ... so frustrating.

You can use the KTM My Ride app for turn by turn navigation, or get a phone mount from UltimateAddOns and use the Calimoto app for a complete route planner and gps 👍
Can anyone tell me if the my ride app works for the 2018 Duke 390 before I drop $11 on it? Cheers.
I’ve had a quick look on the forums and the My Ride does seem to work with the 390 BUT you have to have it enabled on our bike - if it isn’t already, then your dealership needs to unlock it, usually for a fee
teapotone cheers for the quick response. What I’ve done in the meantime is put a gps equipped cycling computer on my Duke. This is something more motorcyclist should consider. The brand I use is Whaoo.
Couldn't agree more, i find it easy and functional to use! The comments about bikes getting more bells and whistles and what happens when they go wrong make me laugh, these people must still be driving round in MK2 cortina's then???
Ha Ha yeah I know, I understand why folk say that but there’s not a hope in hell most of us could ride these modern bikes anywhere near the levels we currently do, without all the electrical wizardry!

I like a Muppet went out and bought a BMW NAV VI, pile of junk, as is TomTom, etc.
GOOGLE MAPS, nuf said. Out ways the rest by a nautical mile! Don't waste your money on the premier sat nav models and paid for apps.
Google Maps far better than the Garmin BMW NAV VI, etc. You even get mobile speed camera warnings live, it's through user input but hey it works.
I hope this helps someone thinking of buying a Sat nav.

Apologies did I say it was illegal? Didn’t mean to, no it’s not, but unless you’re Marquez or the like I’d recommend you keep it on when riding on the road for sure

Quite simply put: The KTM My Ride DOES NOT WORK!!! The app falsely says the phone is NOT connected when in fact it is! There is no way to get past the opening screen to change any settings. KTM My Ride is absolutely worthless

Like me founder member of OF..club😉😉😉😉 how did we ever manage to ride bikes without all the electrickry. ..it's very clever but when it goes wrong and at wot cost to fix......😕😕😕....cheers from dave
