@@TedwardDrives Hey Tedward! Speaking of the base Carrera, I was contemplating about "cheaping out" (get it because it's still eye-wateringly expensive) over a completely base spec Carrera (with pretty much no options) in the future. In your opinion, would this be a worthwhile purchase? Thanks :)

8:26 Totally agree with you! Unless your going to track a car it can be very fustrating having that power. I much prefer a car that is incredibly fun to drive at lower speeds and you can get closer to hitting the cars limits. With the 992 and so many cars today you can be going 90 mph and the car is preforming at 30%. Also agree wheel sizes are going overbord 19 inch would be more then perfect on the car.

Amen brother you beat me to saying just this. Here in NJ the roads are congested with people who drive like crap and spoil any fun you can have. If you like Challengers(as I do), there's no point in getting anything more powerful than an R/T, because you won't be able to REALLY enjoy it. Sometimes I hate how slow and underpowered my Si is but at least I can unwind it without getting into too much trouble. If I had this 992 here I would be constantly frustrated. I'd also have to start a Gofundme to pay for tickets :)Beautiful car though.

What a brilliant car. Porsche struck just the right balance here between classic 911 traits and a few steps forward into the future (though I agree with your exterior niggles). As someone made into a car guy because of the 911, I’ve appreciated more and more how steadily Porsche evolves it with each generation, especially as so many automakers race towards the future at breakneck speed. If it were me, I’d go for the base version with the 7 speed manual and the smallest wheel setup.

Crazy how fast the "regular" 911 is, just insane. What I'm surprised about though is how good it actually sounds. For just a 3 liter and the twin turbos messing with sound, it still has that great induction noise you expect out of a 911.

Adding all these screens and sleek door handles may be great and all but it just adds another thing that can potentially break costing money. Even if I had the money to buy this car and pay for the repairs, its not a good feeling having to worry about something potentially breaking.

On the one hand, love the Porsche artistry and invention. As for HP, well, as you point out, Ted, just where and how often will one have the opportunity to explore its potential?

Trully agree with you about the size of the wheels. Audi is the champion on this one, the new RS6 makes me remember from DUB style back in the day.

One thing about the 911 since generation 991, even worse with the 992:
It‘s not only big, it got really fat! It‘s just huge.
I drove behind one on the famous Passo di Stilvio with my MX5, and guess who had bad trouble while cornering?
On Autobahn I can nearly go as fast in my business car... („Längsdynamik“ is easy)
The last acceptable 911 was the 997 2. generation... and yes, I guess I‘m getting old, too

The problem regarding the lack of sound we have in europe isn‘t really because of the GPF, but regulations for noise are getting stricter on a very rapid rate as well.

Agree, wheels (and wheel arches) are too big... door handles are silly... but the machine as a whole is very impressive! Nice video Mr. Tedward

Definitely agree with you about the door handles, why can't they just be handles? It reminds me of all the buttons getting replaced by touchscreens, what's wrong with static, tactile things? I feel like the push to being "futuristic" is becoming a battle against utility and ease of use.
