Coffee, sunshine, and watching this video make my morning wonderfully peaceful! ❤
man I just switched to a posi stance after watching the secrets of carving video but the season was coming to an end and only got to test it out on solid ice. man those turns are smooth!
That sound of carving! Thanks for sharing looking forward to more videos
Right? The song ended at the perfect moment. You can even hear birds chirping on the last clip.
Sick carves
That healside turn at 4:00 was exceptional 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thanks Noah, those were some of my best turns of the season! You can just hear how perfect the corduroy is, not a hint of ice, just firm consistent and diggable. The audio ended at just the right spot!
One of my favourite sections of the mountain too and it's rarely in such great condition. So steep and narrow, gotta be focused and present if you're gonna go "left of the tree island". In December that part is so scary but by March the rollers are smoothed out and they groom it wider. Dreamy. I'm gonna miss winter...
@@cherrycarves Whitefish closed last weekend…. Definitely going to miss winter
On to fishing season
Good turns!
I'd like to be able to carve like this on steeps one day. I'm working through your drills and they are super helpful. Thanks homie.
Keep working. It only took me 18 winters averaging 80 days on snow, off season strength training, custom gear modifications and constant adjustment, consultation and collaboration with some of the best carvers on the continent, and years of prototyping with the best board builders in the world to make the turns you saw in this video... But now you have access to my boards and my secret curriculum so a couple of weekend trips to your local resort to practice the drills will get you there no problem!
Just kidding. I'm in a mood tonight...
You're welcome homie. See you out there!
Unreal. Your heelsides are what I hope to do one day.
Thanks Abram. Turns out it's not that hard to do, the hard part is finding good instruction...
You are lucky to still have such good snow, it's pretty much over in Quebec. 😔
Sei il numero 1 . Da Roma Italia 🇮🇹
@cherrycarve maybe you should try the Ride insano boots. they are much stiffer than the burton driverx.
Now that I'm watching this I'm kinda curious.. do you sharpen your edges between runs? Lol
No need. I have the best boards and this video was filmed on the best groom!
Geez… you make that look easy!
Never seen anyone do a 360 carve on a black run before. I would attempt it but unfortunately my local mountain doesn’t believe in grooming black runs…
I can never leave van isle, but revelstoke is definitely on our list to visit next season!!! Can’t wait!
The way you flick off them bindings at 0:44 ... You deserved it!
Haha... The trick is to reverse the toe strap on your rear binding - it won't catch on the snow when you carve deep and it looks so smooth when you pop your boot out!
Yeah that’s great steepness but you’ll get that groomed maybe at the bottom of the cascades, would love to be able to try something like this see how smooth I could rip down it. Any blue run here it’s knees bent to absorb impacts 50% or more of the time with strategically chosen carves
What riser plartes are you on? Been trying to find some. Impossible!!
Risers are courtesy of Jasey-Jay Anderson, Canadian snowboard hero! You can order them from his website, let him know James Cherry sent you there...
@@cherrycarves I figured! I gotta look into that. And let me guess... your boards are from Karl in Golden?!
@@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel I've got one custom board from Exegi in Golden yes. Karl was the first builder besides Donek who agreed to do a 300mm waist for me.
There are four wide soft boot carvers from Coiler Composites in my boardroom, four more from the man himself, Jasey-Jay Anderson, and one brand new, first of it's type wide carver from Thirst Snowboards out of Idaho.
All of these are full custom and the widest boards these manufacturers have ever built. Don't ask me which is my favourite; each board has it's place and it's ideal conditions and terrain. A lot of prototypes in there too, a necessary part in the refinement of design.
What are you Riding.. looks custom ... Donek? Why specs?
Hahaha... No, not Donek. These are full custom metal boards from Jasey-Jay Anderson and Coiler.
You can get on the waiting list for a board at carversconnection.com.
What's the run at 3:22 called? I accidentally stumbled upon it but don't remember the name
That's the Pitch Black, just below the bottom of the Stoke Chair and then left at the tree island. Those three clips were all from a single run, some of my best and most satisfying turns of the season - just listen to the sounds, that's perfect cord!
@@cherrycarves Yeah that perfect groom and steepness was a killer combo for me too!
Ты самый первый 👍👍👍
Seriously, who are you? Insane riding even before you contemplate the steepness. Off the friggin hook.
Rad
Those heel sides are insane. I just dont get it.
Hahaha... The trick is in the stance. I need +12 degrees minimum in the back foot for smooth heelsides (usually paired with +27 or +30 in the front foot). Try it!
@@cherrycarves Oh wow. I ride at +15/+15. What about the angle of the high-backs? I assume a low angle is necessary?
I ride Burton Driver X boots, they have a 5 degree forward lean built in. I put my front just a hair steeper than that and add one notch in the rear. So not a ton of forward lean, no, but definitely rotate the highbacks to be parallel to the board edge.
Yeah man!!! That's it! The real deal!! Love your style!
So when are we gonna ride together brother? Winter is happening now!
