- This is our February vacation at the Playa. This was our first time at this resort but not in Cayo Santa Maria. For 2022 New Year we were at the Royalton a resort that we extremely like. I invite you to go check out my videos about that resort. I’m headed for Santa Maria mid April but a different resort.
I did go to this one a year after it opened and loved it, unfortunately it was a couple months after a hurricane and the beach was chopped off exactly at the stairs of the boardwalk.
Very happy to see nature did its thing and brought the sand back.
You’re super lucky to get those amazing drone shots.
I saw a guy with a drone in Varadero , as soon as it was in the air all the guards from surrounding resorts ran towards him and then the army guys that walk the beach took chase too.😱
thanks for watching and the feed back. im assuming since i was going to a remote island they didnt care much about the drone but probably going onto the main land they would have gave me some problems. a few weeks before going to the Playa resort we were at the Royalton and the beach there is nicer. A few years ago we went to another resort in Santa Maria but the beach was really rocky. Safe travels in April !!!

Hopefully the rocky beach is not at the Grand Sirenia Cayo Santa Maria but that’s on the little cayes right before.
@@caroline3778 ok so ur Matthieu sister, it’s been many years !!! I saw Mathieu on the river with his boat before the pandemic started. Let me know what resort n how u like it on ur return. We r planing on another trip at the end of May or June to Guadeloupe. September will probably b in Punta Cana. We r catching on lost time for the past two years lol
Nice vlog. I been to Playa twice, last being in 2019. Great resort. It was really good in 2017 first time I stayed, second was not as good as the first but still enjoyed it some things have changed and deteriorated with the incoming of new hotels and asnthe years go by especially after Irma in 2017 the entire island has changed in terms of tourism and the damage CSM mostly incurred and I am sure now post pandemic. Also been to Las Dunas next door in 2015, good resort but still prefer Playa. This summer I am venturing into Mexico first time in Riviera Maya at a Barcelo first time traveling post pandemic.
First of all thanks for watching much appreciated !!! By going to Cancun at a Barcelo you can't go wrong. Ive been to Santa Maria numerous time but when the locals hits the resort its like a free for all for them and management have no control over them. we were there during valentimes weekend so we did experience some unpleasant activity during our stay but we still had a good time.

Thanks for watching Richard. We were in block 14, third floor in the corner called a sea view suite well worth it. You can also have those suite with a connection room if your travelling with kids and you want them to have their own view. Let me know if u have more questions. P.S. We will be going to Cayo largo on December 23rd so more content on the way. Safe travels !!!😎
Fantastic video. Are there billiard tables at this, resort and how was the Wi-Fi in the room did you have to keep activating it or does it last for your trip?

Wifi is free and you don’t need to reactive as long as u don’t lose your PIN number. I don’t recall seeing a pool table we have been so many places since. We are currently stuck in Cayo Largo. We were supposed to flight back yesterday but still waiting on updates.

Keep up the cool vids. Also, how did you manage to cross the border with the drone?? i wanted to take mine, but i saw some conflicting info, that it might not be permitted.. Anyway, you got some really nice shots!
thanks for the feed back !!! it was nice to meet you and your girlfriend. hope you guys had a great time at the resort. as for the drone i dont really recommend to bring one especially if you want to hold on to it. i purchase the mini 2 a few weeks before going to Cuba. at the border they were more interested in all the other equipment i had. they had no care for the drone probably because i was going to a remote island. Probably i would have had some issues going to Havana or Varadero. ill be posting a full drone video shortly so be on the lookout for it !!!. cheers

Just a quick question about the tipping at the resort - do they accept USDs? Or should I be taking Canadian money? I see conflicting information online. Thank you so much!
They take both Canadian n USD. I usually bring a few hundred in five Canadian dollar bills with me for tips. Anything else I buy at the resort like cigars, chips or excursion I pay with my debit or credit card. They don’t accept American credit cards like capital one, American Express ect !!!

We will be there in a couple weeks. I have an outstanding DJI Mini 2 drone which I will not be bringing with me. Because they are banned in Cuba. I will be most interested in learning how you managed to get yours in, without getting it confiscated. See UAV Coach 2021. "Drones can only be flown in Cuba by individuals whom the IACC has accredited; only a small number of these pilots are available in Cuba." It is really regrettable how so many beautiful places cannot be captured by drone hobbyists because of restrictions stemming from actions taken by a few, who end up spoiling it for everyone. If you did get permission, it might be a good idea to note that in future.
The only permission I got to fly the drone was from the property manager of the Hotel Playa. On my arrival at the airport they didn't seemed to care much about the drone, they were more interested in all the other equipment I had with me especially a dome I had for one my cameras. I will be releasing a video shortly of the property with the drone. wishing you guys a safe and beautiful holiday cheers !!!
Is wifi included in the room?
Yes they’ll give u access for 7 hours and when ur times up u can just go back to the front desk n they’ll replenish ur access for another 7 hours n so on !!!
