      I have the exact same car and same problem. Mechanic I consulted said it's a job that should take 2-3 days. I don't believe him. Sounds like he wants my car all to himself to take some of my car parts, sell them, pretend he has fixed the problem then he gets paid twice. Women drivers often face this bulls**t from mechanics. Glad I came to this video and indeed its a problem that takes at least a couple of hours to fix.

      @ButternutBanyana fr I understand they try n do that to my mother and I always have to go and check my self I believe it's better just for us as car owner to try n fix anything possible and learn it's a good skill to have working on vehicles

    Hi 👋 question did you remove the Alternator to make room for the removal of the Waterpump? Since I no also you can remove the Intake Manifold but that’s more work. If you remove the belt on the Alternator is it hard? Please let me no any info since I will try and replace DIY

    I am far from a mechanic but this gives me hope I may be able to save over $1000 and do it myself. I have a coolant link on my A5 B9 and I think its the water pump. Is it possible its just one of the seals and not the whole pump? I am at 130,000km bought it around 109000km i believe

    • @CarClinicPakistan
      @CarClinicPakistan  Před 4 lety +1

      You have to change the water pump and change the belt. There is no need to change the time belt

    • @rwan230
      @rwan230 Před 3 lety

      That small belt is what drives the water pump. That probably doesn't need to be replaced. A timing belt is inside the front of the engine. That needs service as well including the timing belt tensioner.

  • @johnharland2336
    @johnharland2336 Před rokem +1

    Nope! Why would you take off a faulty "plastic" water pump just to replace it with another "plastic" water pump. ALL reputable mechanics use an aluminum cast pump as a replacement. And none ever have to take off the alternator. There is no need to do that. Also, getting the belt off and on again is critical and the thermostat is internal to the pump!

    • @gregsullivan9661
      @gregsullivan9661 Před rokem

      Audi the thermostat housing isn't the issue, its the seal, which can be purchased and replaced separately. 75% of the replacements I did were from the leak. Only had a few that needed an actual thermostat or the temp sensor was bad.

    Hi everyone I'm from South Africa I need help. My Audi A4 1.8 tfsi 2014 model out of nowhere started to show overhead and the fan are running crazy 🤣. I've replaced the sensor on the radiator hose and still no changes. I had a scan done and shows P0117, P128 f and U 0140. After we clear the faults the first 2 codes came on again. Can it be the water pump or am I missing something. Please your help will be highly appreciated thanks.

      What about the intake manifold? And is there any need to undo the bolt on the balance shaft for the drive belt or can you wriggle it on like Naptowntuner does in his video ?

    • @gregsullivan9661
      @gregsullivan9661 Před rokem

      @@australiantruckspotting8883 Intake stays on. For the belt, get a socket (21 or 22mm I can't remember off the top of my head) and a long ratchet, turn the engine over while walking the pump belt on. if there's a little yellow cover on the gear it leave it on until after the belt is on. will prevent you from damaging the fins. Dont touch the bolt on the balance shaft.. needs a special tool and a huge pain in the ass.
