  • Started the morning in a new spot on the lake looking for walleye and stumbled into a mess of perch that had some true jumbos in it, including a couple of the biggest I've ever caught.

    Good video, nice size perch....been fishing this lake most of my life through the ice specifically for eyes. I would definitely study the deeper sections of the lake and figure out the drop offs and ledges near it, and use a variety of rapala jigs in the w5 size, snap raps,flat raps in the size near the w5 on the regular jigging rap, and the ripping raps..natural colors work great along with chartreuse and blues with reds. The bite isn't fast and furious like the bay but when they turn on out their it can be very similar just study your graph and how the bigger marks react to your jigging styles.

    Was on LLoyd's Bayou yesterday. Bite was SLOW. Caught a handful that were just big enough to eat. Hoping to hit Muskegon lake yet this year.

    Great video! Those were some hog perch! I’m looking to go out this Saturday for my first time this year on Muskegon lake. I’ll be going out of Cottage Grove on the south side but I heard another ship is coming through and will break up the ice. I hope it doesn’t screw up my plans!

    This popped up in my feed, guessing from last January/February? It's about that time of the year now. It is the toughest bite of the year but I still try. Life is too short to wait forever. Nice video, cheers!

    Snug Harbor or 2nd st? Fished and Speared in that lake for 68 years! Caught fantastic 3-6lb Walleyes! Pike up to 15lbs and lots of Bluegill and Specks! Good lake!

      If you can get walleye to bite on muskegon lake through the ice then you can get them to bite anywhere. Nothing better than catching some hog muskegon lake perch and walleye.

    Just because they swim away doesn’t mean they are okay.. always gotta look into the mouth and see if the veins and throat are puffed up. You will know what I’m talking about once you see it... just because the air sac doesn’t blow out doesn’t mean they will survive normally will die after a little while

    • @michigancaughtwild

      Ive alwyas looked for the air sac but I didn't know about the veins where do you look to see them and whats the tell with them to know they aren't going to make it?

  • @johnolivier1
    @johnolivier1 Před 2 lety

    Dude you should reel them up slow in deep water. I can tell by the way their gills are out stretched that they are suffering. They get the bends. Otherwise good video.
