I was stationed down the road in Butzbach from 73-77. I remember being up at KG when then President Ford visited the Kaserne. He gave us a training holiday because of our great performance on a training exercise.
Oh my goodness! My family and I attended so many services and holidays in that church back in the 80's! You even went up to the upper level pews where I loved sitting! For the longest watching other videos i've always wondered what it looked like inside after all these years. Major flashbacks, thanks. 😢
I fondly remember when the Brickhaus was a happening little place up until 1997 when Kirchgoens Ayers kaserne, The Rock, closed moving us to Giessen US depot shortly after ariving back from IFOR in Bosnia. Those were days of the past era when America shined as the great power most of the world looked to for guidance to utopian global democracy in unity that was never to be. Our perception of reality back then was one of high honor and pride to be an American soldier contrasting this dystopian future arriving against our will of hope and glory. Looking back, we were so extreme, dramatic, and a bit on the serious as a heartbeat rule of law for standards and expectations were very high.
WOW I was stationed there Ayers Kasern aka THE ROCK as a Scout from 1977-80. I will never forget my time there

I was actually there about two years ago. It was almost sad when o think about how robust it used to be compared to now
Worked at the rec center 81 to 84. Never attended church….sorry now I missed that. Never imagined The Rock would be closed 😢
Stationed at the ROCK 3/36 inf CSC scout during President Fords visit.
