  • Today we are back and showing you how we created our Christmas fairy lights themed soap. We have scented this soap with "White Christmas" by Candleshack, a very festive scent comprising notes of love, orange, cinnamon and nutmeg.
    This soap involves using the "I Dream In Soap" large extruder and Christmas bauble extruder disc to create different coloured lengths of "baubles". We did not add a bow to our baubles and this means that we think they work well as a string of fairy lights instead. We even add in a grey mica line to represent the cable that the lights are attached to!
    If you wish to have a go at making this recipe yourself, then here are the ingredients you will need to make one batch that will fill a 5lb loaf mould.
    Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) 218g
    Water 436g
    Olive Oil 680g
    Sweet Almond Oil 198g
    Castor Oil 114g
    Coconut Oil 368g
    Shea Butter 150g
    Cocoa Butter 76g
    Different coloured micas in shades of red, orange, green and blue to colour your soap dough.
    Grey or black mica for a mica line within the soap
    White Christmas fragrance oil 40g

    I love A Christmas Story. I first saw it in about 1987 in the movie theatre!!

      It's brilliant isn't it! Wayne first saw it when he was a child (probably around the same time as you first saw it) and he introduced me to it in 2013 when we moved in together - can't believe I had never heard of it or seen it before then!

    So happy to see that you both are back. I was wondering about you all. There are quite a few soapers that disappeared from CZcams and with Covid having hit so hard, I was so worried about many people. ❤

    Thank you and I do know about Lisa at I dream in soap.
    With the rand pound exchange rate being 1 pound to R23 besides shipping costs it is way out of my budget, but thank you for replying.

    I am based in South Africa and it is near impossible to get soap making supplies like this large extruder

      I may be wrong but I believe that Lisa at "I Dream In Soap" ships the extruders and discs worldwide and I can thoroughly recommend her service and her products 😊

    Hi, I need help please, I am new to cold process soap and I made a first batch,, no smell,,, then I made a small single soap and no smell ,, am I doing something wrong? I am using 3% (Ireland)

    • @TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany
      @TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany  Před rokem +1

      3% will be the maximum that you are allowed to add if you are planning to sell down the line, so your levels of scent sound correct. Was it essential oils or fragrance oils that you chose to use? Some essential oils (especially many citrus ones) do fade really quickly in cold process soap and others do not smell particularly strong, so it may well be that you are doing nothing wrong and it is just the nature of the particular scent you have chosen.

      @@TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany I made a small bar with just 2 ingredients and I went to 25 of the water as % of oils and I used 7% superfat and I can smell some fragrance in my soap but I will try it again with a different fragrance just to see ..........3% is ridiculous, it should be 4 or 5%

    • @transformers1017
      @transformers1017 Před rokem

      @@TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany actually it's 20 of the water % of oils
