    You should be a cinematographer..
Having said that, the trick to mud is; put it on and scrape it off completely, each coat.. Every coat with a wider blade. The residue left after each coat expands as it drys, no sanding needed til the final. We just knock the ridges and high spots off by scraping it quickly with the knife between coats.

I recommend to paint a bright white or neutral color for the best lighting in a garage, especially since you are planning to work on your cars there.

      100% agree

I'm pretty torn on colors haha. White makes a ton of sense from that aspect for sure. Being able to see what I'm working on is super nice. My conflicting thought comes from filming it though. The way I light my shots is alot easier with a background that is on the darker side. I can manipulate it to basically have it fall off completely, which is way harder to do with a bright colored wall. Im thinking we might do a darker accent wall so we get the best of both worlds

All the other automotive CZcamsrs I see have big sponsors and just get a Bendpak lift immediately; then they're done with it.
I really respect your approach and admire the way you tell your stories. I feel like I'm watching a movie each time I tune in and I'm hooked from beginning to end. It doesn't even really matter what you're doing honestly; it could be cars, houses, boats... Keep up the amazing work dude

Haha yeah all my stuff is self funded so a lift would be quite a ways out sadly. Gotta take the slow route! I am stoked my approach and mentality resonates with you!
I am also happy to hear you like my watch selection. They each signify a life milestone and I'm actually about due to buy myself another!

Hunter, go for the eucalyptus olive 🫒 green [2nd down left swatch] or the sage color [3rd down far right swatch]. Both are not too dark and are natural shades that will "pop" with the wood ceiling.
Just my suggestion 😅 I'm sure whatever you choose will look amazing.

    • @HunterDirection
      @HunterDirection  Před měsícem +1

I love the idea of a natural green in order to accent the wood! It makes alot more sense than white to me from a style sense.

Lighter colors will open up the space and spread the light more opposed to darker ones that will make the space more compact and it will requiere more lighting to see everything (for example under a car and nooks and crannies under the engine bay)
The mudding was perfect and you did a great job 😁 Hope you dont get lost in the pallete on the endless color spectrum, hah

Fantastic story telling and filming. I picked up on the foreshadowing on the opening scene immediately - I saw the mud on the walls and the paint swatches and it made me think. Using that exact same clip to wrap the video was super cool and fit the message perfectly. I only recently discovered your channel but I've already watched most of your videos. Keep it up!!!

The neatly cut out roof plywood sections were GENIUS! I think Hunter's engineering brain just comes up with smart solutions. It's looking like a crew of professionals tackled the task. 👏

This is way overkill for a garage... but its fantastic overkill. Nice work, Sir!
If you're going to pick a darker color, I hope you've got some serious lighting picked out. Looking forward to the next installment!

Me and my ex worked on a house together with her mum and stepdad (they bought it for us to rent). The mudding looked pretty good at first, but once the walls were painted it looked horrible in some places.
