I agree. This movie summarizes years of education and shows what truly is relevant. I literally just went back to watching this clip to remind myself of this.
Absolutely! Curtis is just so great at what he does. There are so many tropes he could've used, so many paths that he could've taken that he didn't that would've made this movie much less satisfying. Such a sweet, wonderful, funny film.
One of my favorite films too, apparently the cast ate and dined together for a week in the house just so they would bond and build up a rapport, love it 😍
It's all about the energy you bring to any situation. Seriously try it. Do the most mundane of things and then apply a blast of energy to it. Watch what happens. It never fails. Never fails. Sometimes I do it, just to prove it can be done to anything anywhere. The grimmest supermarket queue, the surliest cashier, don't say anything but physically lift your energy. I can make strangers say hello to me in the street. I've done it in London of all places on the tube. Just sit, elevate your vibration, smile inwardly and it's like a magnet. It's such fun!
As a therapist, I've recommended this movie to many of my patients. It teaches to love your life and stay in the moment. it's not for everyone, but most of us can learn how to be more loving and gentle with ourselves and then others.
Brilliant screenplay. Life is imperfect but you'd never want to change it even if you could. Don't try to manipulate or coerce anything, it won't bring you happiness.
My friend's hospital truck in Afghanistan was hit by an IED and most of the people in it were splattered all over the inside, I wonder if he would want to change that if he could. Considering how messed-up he is in the head, he probably would.
no official but you can’t say what would bring a person happiness when you don’t know them and yes their are some things some people will risk to change
Thank you for this. However, (clips that end too soon)... What made the movie for me was the part 3 to this. 1. Live your day normally, with all the worries and stress. 2. Now that you know what will happen (already know how it turns out), use the time to look for the good things. 3. Once you learn to enjoy number 2, start living each day like that from the start.
@@anneleblanc910 true. Like I am happy that I see my wife and kids the first thing in the morning. No matter what happens after that, my day can't be bad.
I'm about to have twins, I watched this movie for the first time years ago and have watched it countless times since. I believe this movie is the main reason I am going to cherish every cry, poop, and waking moment with my soon to be children.
I love the bit he ads later on where he says eventually he doesn’t even do this “live each day twice” thing and just tries to have the wonderful wide-eyed approach to life the first time he lives it.
this is such a important scene that lives in my head rent free this movie really touched me such a underrated gem🥺 it really highlights the importance of romanticising everyday life n seeing the beauty in little things
I never saw this movie with you... I wish we had seen it together because its one of the most beautiful movies ive ever seen with the most wonderful message... Wish we had a shared memory of it
Finally got to watch this movie, I’m a few years late but glad I watched it This scene has motivated me to change up my life I have been angry at how my life is right now lately, I’ve been a bit depressed and think about suicide from time to time but man after watching this movie, it has made me want to start living my life like I’ve lived the day twice and just enjoy every moment of it.
I think of this scene when I have a shit day and it makes me look back and think how only a few moments can dictate how the day goes and if we just stop and think for a moment, it will slide over and we can carry on. Such a great movie.
@@kayeeeeeeeeeee Arrival is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Tonight I just saw About Time, and it made me think of Arrival. The way time works really changes how we love one another :-) very good movies!
Loved seeing Domhnall in this 😄 We were in the same year in secondary school in Dublin. Then I used to see him on the train going to University, often had his guitar with him 💚
The first time he experiences that moment, with all the nerves, we don't see the face of what is clearly an attractive woman. The second time, we do; nice touch there from the director.
@@thereitstuff1 That bit struck me as well. Genius on Curtis's part to not show us her face the first time 'round. And then showing it to us the second time, when their smiles are feeding off of each other, it makes you so happy that her friendliness is reciprocated. Such a great moment.
If you like this movie, i recommended you to watch all the movies made by Richard Curtis (the director) all of them will make you feel good after watching it~ ❤
But there's a second part to the dad's secret.....eventually, stop using time travel. Live each day just once, as if it was your second time around. And we don't need a super power for that :)
This is one of my newer favourite films. Quite frankly, anything that has Richard Curtis involved will be an automatic favourite sight unseen. Curtis just innately “gets” human relationships.
I wish even I could time travel like that, I would definitely like to go way back before covid came and relive all those years again having my present consciousness 🤞⏳🤞
The way Tim and Mary meet and live their pre-kids life is exactly how my wife and I had our courtship. We now have two kids with a third on the way. We even used a quote from this movie on our photo guest book: So it begins....lots and lots of types of days.
You mean you manipulated your wife over and over again in a time-warped hell dimension that she could never escape, until you worked out how to fake being a man she could love, and trapped her forever?
I have a secret, I have the ability to travel through time like him. It’s just every time I go back to fix something I don’t remember it. It’s why I came back to today, these days are most incredible days of my life 🥰

Richard Curtis' best work in my opinion. A lot of his writing isn't going to age well, and I'm not hopeful for some of the representations in this film. That said, I think the message this film presents is important. If it survives based on that alone, it would be a good thing. Also a unique take on the time travel genre.
