Virtual Tour | Through the Lenses

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Alisan Fine Arts is pleased to present a group exhibition showcasing works of 4 international female artists who use the camera in different ways as their medium of expression. They include Cai Wen-You, Chu Chu, Barbara Edelstein, and Isa Ho.
Cai Wen-You, a photographer living in New York, and Isa Ho, a digital artist based in Taiwan, both draw inspiration from their surroundings and daily lives. Cai's characteristic works capture the cherished memories of her father, Cai Guo-Qiang, a renowned artist. Ho is well known for her aluminum-board digital prints of surrealist motifs. Her photos address the issues of social concern. Chu Chu, a cross-media artist from Hangzhou, and Barbara Edelstein, an American artist living in Shanghai and New York, are both fascinated by nature and tactfully combine their photos with Chinese ink. Chu, who has a PhD in calligraphy meticulously scripts the characters directly to her photographic botanical images, making each one one-of-a-kind, while Edelstein's portrayal of leaves and water deftly blends Western and Asian sensibilities.
Alisan Aberdeen will be open Wednesday to Saturday 10-6 for the duration of the exhibition. Other times are by appointment only.
Exhibition runs until May 31, 2022
