The judges (Khan, Meech, Legend and Brooklyn Terry) chose Kid Boogie and J-Smooth as the winners. Nasty combo, Monsta & Venom!! That's what's up MTL. Had me screamin in my room at CZcams, LOL! Wasn't there to see it live but def my vote was with you guys :)
MTL brought more to the floor. I felt Venom's soul and vibe with his musicality and smooth criminal floorwork. Monsta Pop coming in hard with some straight up "in-your-face" popping.
I'm seriously impressed with the poppin that's coming out of Montreal these days. It's pure originality.
I understand why MGF was chosen but I can't say I whole heartedly agree with the decision.
DAMN! the guy in blue is sooo tight. he has so much control in what hes doing his first round got me hooked

how many of you are watching this in hd? monstapop did nasty as hell but venom lost his round to kb with the round between monsta and jsmooth being a lot closer than the round between kb venom... this a 2 on 2.... both dancers need to be on point! one round doesnt settle an entire battle!

@ATN123496 I did not say that it's better if it's faster. I agree with you in fact on quality over speed. However, in this battle I see the speed being relevant to the crowds reaction and fitting in between whole notes very nicely. The technique is clean as well. Bottom line is one group slightly out danced the other.
i think monsta pop and venom came with a real good vibe, feel the beat dance with the heart but j smooth and kid boogie came prepared for juste debout, been doin for a long time together, the experience its talkin and the judges know that , but much props mtl gettin international right now 514 mtl
I agree he needs to work on his style more. Salah had J-smooth heated, in 2008 Battle @ Juste. He looks better this year but better keep it fresh & tight. Got Heavy hitters like Frantik out of LA Cali & Popping John SBK Cali. just to mention a couple that will bring it to the comp.
@ATN123496 I just watched this battle and I lean towards wanting to see Pamona style popping but, this battle was decided correctly in my opinion. Both teams were tight but Smooth's team had more energy, the movement seemed faster and yet more precise. That is important because fast can equal sloppy at times. In this case they performed complicated moves with speed, on beat, with precision. Well done.

Being there and seeing it... I understand the judges decision.. but my personal belief would have been for an extra round just so they could put it all on the floor. 1 round wasn't enough

@BLokingSMunts can u explain how they turn into stone/robot and then soft as a pillow? its like... pillow with a stone in it... cant have both, but he has got both, so he is defying natures power... locking is supernatural. yes. i like when they chestexplode, its like a human with bombs on his chest. but when the bombs detonate, the human does not get hurt. yes, i like locking.
i thought all 4 did good locking. they look like electric but also like water... like electricwater? and they make this stoneform robot. very cool. i know alot about dance.

It was a good matchup guys.
The only thing that is definitely wrong in this battle is that there was only 1 round per dancer - when it takes at least 2 to fully show accurate battle dynamics and skill level.
I know that many posters here are nyc natives and friends to the underdogs which shows great support, however, you have to take into account that Kid-Boogie can definitely bring it 3x as harder and Jsmooth can out Tut monsterpop if there was a round 2.

@EvilKen Woops my bad not all judges were from USA. Regardless tho man its the principle. I mean damn jsmooth and kidboogie have been reppin hard for years, but even some of the top poppers have their day, and IMO that day shoulda been Monsta and Venoms. Once again respect 2 all the dancers and to props to JJ and Kid Boogie for takin first. It was a dope ass battle over all

The second guy on Monster Pops Opposition was sick but the reason I give it to Monster is he Battles them. He looks them in the eye and lets them know how it is. Peace Hombres :)
I see now. Kid Boogie and J smooth seemed more into the music like dancing(which translates into a connective flow between moves) my problem is J Smooth wasn’t necessarily flowing like Kid and Venom and Monstapop just came too hard for the judges. The 1 judge in red shirt was already leaning towards them the whole battle. Watching the other 2 or 3 at the end. They seemed to watch Kid Boogie and J Smooth little more also but the 1 judge didn’t do that even looked unimpressed when J Smooth went up

@ATN123496 listen.... just because we dont dance the way you like to see dance... doesnt mean we dont have big dance abilities... my mentours of this dance we call poppin.... are poppers from the 80s who put it down at a high level back then and now... Popn pete/Jr boogaloo/Poppn Taco/Mr smooth so who are you to tell me... i cant dance? or my crew cant dance?? thats what i cant understand.. ill be the first to tell you.. i love MTL... the dancers from there. i dont have to hate on anyone ,
if i HAD to give that to someone, i'd give it to kb and jsmooth.... they were more solid and professional... venom and monsta pop still need just a lil more work on their foundation... if i were the judge, i'd call it a tie though... venom had the best ground moves and the hardest hit (but a lil sloppy), monsta pop had the tight animation and 2 hot tut sets (but the weakest foundation), jsmooth had the best musicality (though not by much) and waves and footwork, and kid boogie was the most solid

Well after watching this battle from diferent videos like 6 not only on youtube...i can clearly say that kid boogie and jsmooth won hands down....Reason is that kid boogie and jsmooth were too clean in each round and showed alot of energy watch closely without being a fanboy....Judges where right but at the same time i really feel like its a tie in this angle
