    We tried to make it from Bakersfield California to Palm Springs California for our 2nd leg of our cross country trip driving an all electric double decker bus across the U.S.

    The A/C problem brings back memories. And the other breakdowns. Many trips having the hatches open. Or getting to a repair garage to get it checked out. I drove empty from Fort Knox after dropping four bus loads of Army reservists in July. A/C gave out after dropping off and on our way to our hotel for the night. It could wait till I got it into our garage back home. Had the side window and the hatches open whole way. Inside temp got to 105 degrees. I went thru so many bottles of iced tea and water. Couldn’t wait to stop now and then to get out and pour cold water on my head. Lol

    In an effort to build charging stations for large vehicles. They also need to figure out how to keep the "4 wheelers" from parking/using the space for large vehicles. In my travels, buss and truck parking areas always seem to have a car parked in them.

      I’m all my years of driving, service plazas on the highways were the best yet could be the worst for bus parking. Ones with specific areas with lined spots were the best if they were open, no bus there. The areas on the 90 in NY State were the iffy spots. Signs clearly stating BUS PARKING ONLY in the fronts of the buildings would always be filled with 4 wheelers. If the air horns didn’t get them to move out, then I’d double park on an angle to block them in. That was especially fun when it was multiple buses. Had many people come out of the building, or their cars, screaming and threatening me/us. We just pointed to the signs. Many times, a trooper would be there or pull in and shag the cars out. So, c’mon cars, give buses a break. It’s a BUS PARKING ONLY spot. Not a car spot. Get your spot in the car parking lot and walk your ass inside instead. Lol

    I am watching the series. What bugs me is that the manufacturer/vendor doesn't include a heavy duty power line extension so you can park the but and run the cable. Worked in film as an electric for quite a bit and all we did was run electric cables hundreds of feet away from the generator. I know that answer is that for normal runs you have dedicated chargers, but for an x country trip, one needs to think in advance.

    We had an electric school bus use plug-in charger at my work a few weeks ago. It was cool to see one. School bus barn did not have a charger yet that why they used one at my work while they get charger installed at their bus barn. Only saw exterior of the bus.

    Unfortunately your AC failed but at least you were able to charge it. Still no reason why they can’t make sure that these stations are operating properly. Just imagine if this was the Midwest in January with all of the snow and ice around the charger. Then of course those displays don’t like cold weather. Then top it off with inpatient passengers wondering why the operators couldn’t assign a diesel powered bus for their trip they paid hard earned money for. All things considered, you folks handled all of the difficulties well and don’t you forget that James and Dennis.

    Glad our chargers were in working order. You were charging at the Panera on California Ave. I know recently we got Super Chargers at that Double Tree. You can’t charge there? Anyways we hope your stop in Bakersfield was okay!

      No the hotel did not have chargers when we stopped there last year.

      @@JWangvlogs my only advice would be to avoid Bakersfield in The summer. Our 102° F weeks/months are no joke!

      @@LittleJohnPhotoYT at least it's dry heat. The temp here can get up to the same but it's so humid that you feel like you're drowning.
      But yes. You are right. Better to travel somewhere cooler in the summer.

    I can’t see this working while taking a multi day charter. Way to much of a headache. Hopefully retire before the day I would have to deal with it.

    When I charge my Tesla at EA chargers, I only use the EA app to activate charging sessions.

      You’re a Morun . Been driving electric since 2013. Currently only have electric vehicles. Make cross country trips three times in the past five years. Just keep buying the fossil fuel industry’s BS.

    So… even if you installed 200 chargers at truck stops across the country, 1) how many trucks could you actually FIT into a parking lot to where they’re able to line up to connect to a station and 2) how long does a driver have to wait while their losing legal drive time to keep going down the road before they’re able to pull into a charging station because there’s a line that’s a mile long. And then that said driver gets to the station and it doesn’t work, or it’s gonna take 4 hours for the truck to charge. Really?! This is honestly stupid!! For buses and/or local trucks/ straight trucks and cars, Sure. But when you start talking about moving EV’s into the CMV semi truck world nothing long distance will EVER be on time. Too much time will be wasted when you have to go charge for 3-4 hours each time you stop. Not to mention, first having to wait to pull up to a station. Can’t wait!!

      Well for long distance charters they would be as useful as a broken zipper. But for school, transit, and airport-hotel shuttle they would probably be ok. Even a day charter less than 200 miles might be alright. Just don’t go too far with them.

    This is a total cluster --. Forcing EV’s on the American people but don’t have the resources to keep them on the road. But they want you to pick one of many from their dealer lot and spend $50-$100k on a car or SUV but can’t keep you on the road if you wanted to take a family trip 1200 miles away. But everyone’s running towards them. Wow!!

    The “Tejan” pass does not exist. The correct name is “Tejon” as in Tejon Ranch.

    That app guy thinks commercial vehicles are going electric. That's wishful and or foolish thinking on his part. Most commercial diesel vehicles have DEF which cuts down on harmful emission's. And all newer combustible gas vehicle's emit very low emissions. America and the world run on gas and diesel.

      Sorry to break the news, but DEF does nothing to reduce CO2 emissions, which is the point of a ZEV.

      @@shiftfocus1 Either are BEV’s. You have to burn more fossil fuel to charge these things. Nuclear would solve that but the very mention of nuclear power will cause some to run to the basement and scream.

      I think, on the contrary, there IS a large and firm market for electric coaches in the US, just not that long tours from South to North. A sightseeing or a charter vehicle to take guests one or less hundred miles away could be absolutely perfect, with regard to zero emissions, very low motor noise and positive environment-friendly image and effort. Long interstate trips are viable but hardly commercially feasible with regard to passenger satisfaction and current state of charging infrastructure.

      @kgmakogon I thought school busses would be ideal for electrification. Then it was tried in Canada and was a disaster. Every bus electrification project I read about has been a disaster. Hopefully some of the projects that are now maturing will have done better.

    Hes being forced to block traffic, turn off the a/c and have his passengers be uncomfortable, park over curbs and gravel, back up, wait for hours, throw his schedule out the window and reposition constantly, research and find accessible charge ports and there's no guarantee of a charge!!!..its utter stupidity to agree to drive such a piece of garbage. It goes against everything hes been trained to do. He has zero chance of doing his job successfully, for anyone who has a work ethic constantly letting down your customers and company is incredibly emotionally draining.The stress of forever having to find another charge alone with the thoughts of breaking down at any moment would be enough to make one pull there hair out
