This is a great video from USA Triathlon that breaks down the swim stroke/technique!

So I'm a HS swimmer turned Triathlete. Some of my friends have asked me to teach them to swim properly, definitely showing them this Video!

Yes so only do it when necessary, it is important to know where you are and how far you have to go in a the triathlon swimming section as there are many competitors and it can get confusing.

"Freestyle" is a race where you can use whatever stroke you want. "Crawl" is one you can use in a freestyle race where you're face down. I think they're confusing the two terms.

très bonne vidéo sur la technique en générale et plus particulièrement à la fin, sur les départs et la respiration frontale. Merci !

I respect all of the above things the only problem i have is with breathing. I can't seem to have a reflex and water almost always gets into my mouth when i turn my head to breath.

One thing that helped me with breathing is to follow your arm with your chin as it recovers. Put your chin on your deltoid as your arm comes around.

Thank you. Very informative. When you talk about kicking, you stress the importance of kicking at the beginning and end of the race but don't address the mid race portion. Should I plan on low-intensity kicking for that stretch? Thanks.

Seems that sighting would cause the head to rise and the legs to fall, which is what i want to avoid, correct?

True. My guess is, that it is needed for open water, however.
