1:21 - So, Nene is weird as we know. But basically, her train of thought here is that "I think that's scary, so just in case Matsuri is putting on a tough front, I'll send her some encouragement"
1:50 - "Softening" She used the word "maroyaka ni" here and even chat commented on it being kinda strange. Basic meaning is "circular", expanded meaning being "mild" "mellow"(She uses words in ways people don't pretty often, like tera tera strangely in the last clip I did)
2:40 - "I'm being recognized" Went through a bunch of different ways of phrasing this. She's using passive respectful form and the word "hyouka" means "to be evaluated/assessed/judged/rated" and expanded "appreciated/recognized/acknowledged"
2:42 - So, I went with harsh language here to reflect the tone in which he was speaking. Respect to Astel for not letting comments like that go without criticism.
3:25 - "I don't know anyone's..." The reason this sounds awkward is because it kinda is. She's deflecting hard to not seem rude for not knowing Astel's contact info on disc.
3:51 - "That I sound like an Otaku" I had to kinda stretch it here, because what she actually said doesn't translate at all since it's an old Japanese meme. After the allergy line, she says "warotanGOGOGO FONUKAPOU" which, first of all she got the meme wrong, it's "FOKANUPOU" which basically means "an otaku laugh" or "nerdy laugh" The actually meme itself looks like: フォカヌポウってｗｗｗこういう感じｗｗｗたくさんｗｗｗを使ってｗｗｗ It's basically interjecting every few words with "www" which, as most of you know is "lol" in Japanese. It came from 2ch, in a thread asking who everyone's favorite Haruhi character was and someone who needs to touch some grass went HAM and it became a copypasta. Whew.
4:04 - "Rip and Tear" - "kachiwaruzo" Crush, smash, hit and break open. I couldn't help but use it since it was so close though.
It's nice to have notes like this. I'm learning Japanese, but it isn't good enough to follow along with whats being said. Notes like this give me a lot of insight into things.
Also, respect to Astel for calling out those comments.

Yeah, making dinner for a million husbands every night while still finding time to go bug catching is so impressive.
I loved Matsuri and Astel's banter, astel's randomness paired up with matsuri's unpredictability is a match made in heaven or hell depending on how you view it... But yes, Nene is a spectacular creator.
Its the fact that Astel turned the tables and now he's the unhinged one that Matsuri has to deal with lmao his recent Apex collabs that I've seen clips of (i am not jouzu sadge) are of him being more of a troll than before.
That's kinda reassuring though in a sense because that means he's showing that he's comfortable with who he's collabing.

It's usually part of a group and when it's a group he doesn't talk much directly to the other people. Honestly this is a rare, extremely earnest side of Nene that I've not seen very much. It's kinda beautiful. I pretty much only see her in clips because my Japanese is garbage, and Nene clippers tend to clip funny or yabe kinda things. I appreciate this clip for upending my expectations.
I appreciate this comment. I'm not really a fan of the yabai clips for any vtuber and gravitate much more towards pure humor, gameplay or insight on the way they think. The whole reason I started this channel was because I wanted to share a clip of Matsuri chilling and sharing her unique outlook on life. Anyway, glad this one resonated with you

I'd say it's matsuri being strong willed. She used to casually put people off with crass and dirty jokes for laughs on a whim. She's a strong minded person

They've had enough chemistry together as well as tourneys to know it was a joke and banter...usually Astel won't be like this if he was with girls who know that they won't respond kindly...look at his older collabs with girls and you'd know. Plus most of Matsuri's interaction with guys and girls are full of yabai topics but in sarcasm or joking way...Astel is just responding kindly to that

love this clip! as someone that's a fan of both astel and nenechi, this makes me so happy. astel is a great guy, and i'm glad he shut down those weird comments saying it's all about nenechi's body (both because it could cause trouble for her and because it's genuinely the complete opposite of the reason he likes her). i never expected nenechi to actually mention it though! i'm overjoyed she feels so pleased getting recognized like that, and even in her hololive bubble, i'm sure she knows astel is one of the most popular and respected holostars members which i'll bet makes the compliment even better for her. holopro is a wonderful place
With Nenechi you might join for the boing boing, but you stay for the absolute adorableness. She can be a bit of an airhead, but is also super dedicated and hard working.

I think Nene is underestimating how close Astel and Matsuri are. In that same Apex Stream Astel said Matsuri is one of the girls that he doesn't feel like he needs to be reserved around, he can just say whatever he wants.

Damn this is actually a rare good clip of hololiver, usually its just short fun, this one went ahead deeper about Nene's thought about things, and honestly Ive been enlightened. Especially about how Nene being scared by how Astel conversed, and not used to dude's strong language in general, I felt pretty similar when I saw the clips of the stream, those 2 kinda treading on dangerous topics, but thought nothing of it because Matsuri has been known to be unhinged.

I like how this whole situation is going on. That long talk between Astel and Matsuri about relationships and how he casually mentioned Nenechi as his oshi. Also, Nene talking about it on her stream and chat is not being weird about it. It's just wholesome and interesting to see.
me too! i was honestly surprised at the positive reception of nenechi's chat. i don't mean that as if she has a bad fanbase, just that idol culture is very much a thing for some (most) members, and with her husbands thing going on, i wasn't sure how they'd react (i'm a female nekko, so i have a different perspective). it's great to see!

Tbf, Astel and Matsuri's conversation is a reflection of IRL interaction between men and women. So for people out there that rarely interact with women, that conversation is a good example.
It's basically a normal interaction between friends just messing around, they were clearly having a great time. Some people really overthink relationships between sexes as if they can only be romantic or can't exist at all heh.
Coworker, Classmate or Acquaintance yes, but to a friend? No. You don't even consider that joke with a true friend. If my friend would talk to me that way in just 5 seconds I'll make them stop or I'll die out of cringe.

Sora, Suisei, Azki, Fubuki, Matsuri, Aki, Mel, Choco, Towa, Botan, La+, all these girls collab with male talents on the regular, especially Matsuri and Aki who are doing it on a weekly basis. Fubuki has always been an advocate of Holostars and is always in their 3D Live if they need a Hololive girl to sing with them. Sora, Suisei, Azki all have singing collabs with them too. Roboco, Shion, Korone have collabed at least once with boys too.
And if you look at present time, it's ironic that it's the EN audience who has a higher rate of toxic gachikoi fans, judging from the aftermath of Kronii, Calli, Vesper, Magni collab. Ame has never collabed with boys again too. It's only Bae who's comfortable talking to them now and most of the EN girls are actively avoiding the Holostars.
"You just like her for her boobs" is so inexplicable as she's rarely considered in that light despite it being her being second curviest. If that was true he'd be more likely to go Noel or Lamy. I don't mind the booba, but it was her pluck and determination that appealed to me.
It was a surprise as JP stars mentioning hololive oshis are rare for various reasons. That and it's a bit surprising it's Nene as Suisei's the go to for hard work.

I think this is the first time I've seen a clip of Nene talking in this manner. They're almost always funny, cute, lewd etc. moments, which is fine, but this side of Nene is something I've literally never seen before and it was really nice to hear! Due to language barriers i only watchs HoloJP clips , but i feel like Nene usually solo streams or NePoLaBo collabs and doesnt interacts much even with other JPgirls , unlike Polka or Botan that have collabs with other gens sort of often
Finding out Astel has Nene as his oshi was somethkng I wasn't expecting that I kinda wonder how he would react during a collab with her.
Astel is a very professional and level headed person when it's time to be serious. So I am not worried at all. Although Astel did mention that he has no intention to seek collabs with his Oshi, except if he is the one being invited, then he'll consider it.
Nene blew me away with her 2.0 debut and her 3D debut streams. I don't really follow her much (so many members), but she is seriously talented and hard working.
I feel like her comfort level and creativity bloomed after her 2.0 and 3D, too.
I'd occasionally visit a stream to see some unholy combination of overlays and it just felt so Nene.

Yeah, she's got bad hay fever. I've got another clip planned of where she talks about it. I've also heard streamers' voices change over time naturally due to damage caused from talking for such long periods of time. I could see that being exasperated for vtubers that play a character that isn't their natural voice.

A good way to check is to copy paste the stream's url (or rather, the letters/numbers after the = sign) into the search bar. Sorting by video length often gets results.

That collab was awesome yet sad. It's sad to hear why Matsuri doesn't stream apex much and it's especially sad when you know the real reason why. The reason she said was viewers don't come when she plays apex the real reason is some idiotic viewers got really upset at her when she played a ton of apex. That's why she only plays offline now

It's been quite a while since I last watched a Nenechi clip, her voice sounds a lot more normal pitched than I remember, I'm sure it used to be higher pitched and "cuter". Anyone know if this is how she talks now? I've noticed a few holomem changing their voices like this.

The stream of Astel and Matsuri was a 10/10 in banter but that should probably be considered extremely far from the norm of a cross-branch collab. That was all the wild, unhinged, unfiltered personalities of that duo shining through and it flies in the face of the norms of streaming in Japan -- you don't even need to know that much about the cultural norm, you can just watch the TL'd clip where they're constantly making self-aware remarks about how abnormal they're both being. Collab-beggars annoy me because It's not just that they're innocently ignorant outsiders, it's like they only follow hololive cus it's trendy and just repeat whatever the popular memes in the community are, and they don't grasp their real personalities unless it's a meme.

I was kinda sad with Nene's first reaction to Astels and Matsuri rather brash banters. But it's understandable for her to think that Matsuri would be put off. And if be guessing its her first time watching Astel, cuz he normally don't bring up "brash and rude" topics if it's not in sarcasm and joking way, and he barely does that with girls who can take it wrongly. It's why he is comfortable with Matsuri by saying these stuff cuz she herself has said this stuff, but if anyone remembers the tourney with Robocco and Choco then they'd see he doesn't talk those topics since he ain't sure if they can take it.
