Oh no DON'T GET NORD VPN. They have bloated their software with crap and spam you with notifications inside and outside the app about their products. The highest rated post in the subreddit is people complaining about nord pushing their meshnet product on the context menu, basically you have an ad with no option to remove it... As the top line even above the Open line when right clicking on files in Windows.

Hey Magnus. Didn't you and Larry Wheels intimate that you were doing a "grip strength" video together? Is that coming?
Spammmmm
The interaction with everyone was so funny and wholesome. The fact that Magnus himself got interviewed is hilarious
Where can we see this interview? I was a little disappointed it was cut out lol.

the guy at @8:07 was so humble saying he's got no specialties, yet he almost won the challenge. Seriously impressed by him!
He was so relaxed and not even super ripped. Yet his large hand came handy. Another example of evolution and Mother Nature at play.
The big guy was such a powerhouse full of positive energy - he was the highlight of the video
he was annoying and loud. They probably don't work and have nothing better to do. There's a lot of bums at Venice beach these days

Anton has got to be one of the best guests on Magnus' channel. They make such a great team in anything they do.
I think we all need a hype man like the big guy. He was rooting for everyone.
Really love how nice, supportive, and motivating Magnus is to every contestant.
Also glad to see Anton again. You two have always great chemistry together.
Magnus is like that in real life too.
Magnus & Anton are the dynamic duo of spinning bar challenges. Thanks for taking the challenge to the next level.
Hi
This video became way more wholesome than I expected. I don't exercise and I would normally feel intimated or embarrassed but they made everyone feel so welcome. What a nice community!
i like that he gave the 59 second guy the money. he didnt have to. the challenge was a whole minute. so that was kind of him.
That was fun! Come to Miami with the same challenge 💪

@@TH-dg2mm bigger is not better. as you even see from the challenge here. thin dudes do it, big dude cannot hold 2 seconds. consumes lots of resources. has much less power to weight ratio. less muscle mass to weight. more weigjt/resources consumed to power output. also bigger bones are easier to break as they are longer. There is a reason nature evolution selected mostly shorter men. They are superior.
@@TH-dg2mm Nah, it's all good man. Steroids weren't around back then. :)
The guy at 8:03 was a beast man! He was so mentally determined to get that win but his body just wasn't capable. He was probably 25 seconds over his normal strength, he's definitely gonna be feeling his biceps tommorow.
That was a neat challenge , everyone was good about just trying and understanding how difficult it is and still being happy to talk and explain. Good job by all contestants and congrats to the winner👏
The energy was SO good and fun when those two guys from MTV showed up. They made everything 10x as hyped up!

Lots of giggling with Pepe. Always gets me laughing :).
Dude! That's a collection of the 3 most humble guys. I'd LOVE to see that! It would be cool to see them all do competitions in each other's specialties...ninja warrior, crack climbing....and, uh, being Spiderman. Lol Magnus is pretty exceptional at everything he does.
Anton, Magnus, Pete and Toby Segar 👌
as an ex rings gymnast (a very mediocre one) and occasional climber, I believe this is one of the few challenges I could still make Magnus actually impressed, even thou for the last 10 years, my training has been solely an intensive beer can grip and the "banana peeling". xD
Joint hypermobility (exacerbated in gymnasts) helps not feeling elbow pain afterwards, and the muscle memory of activating the proper muscles, as well as the psychological training of enduring the fatigue of certain muscles, can be as important if not even slightly more important than pure simple physical fitness.
The proper way to grip this depends more on your grip size. Generally, stretched arms is the way to go; what fails is the grip, which will fail sooner the less oxygenated blood gets there. A flexed arm posture will not only use oxygenated blood flow before it reaches your hands, it will also constrict its flow. Unless you're someone training callisthenics and have conditioned your muscles to withstand catabolic functioning, you will hang longer the more oxygenated blood flow you can get up to your wrist.
I'd try with stretched arms, legs in half-lotus, and opposite thumb grip (big hands), as so to basically have as little muscle activation but on my arms\forearms. I'd wager i can manage 45 seconds.
I'm definitely gonna go visit my former gymnasium and ask my coach just to try this 🤣
Any updates if you tried the challenge?
@@kjfurr I didnt untill I saw your comment. I completely forgot about this, so thank you for reminding me! =D
I went to the gymnasium, did 1:12, and I actually really really amazed myself!!! First try, no warm-up, jeans and sweater.
I'm currently veeery out of shape (I'm about 1.75m weighing 55kg), still recovering from a health issue, and looking myself in the mirror and seeing a "skeleton" has been really depressing and a motivation killer to start working hard on my physique and try to get back to a decent fitness level.
Simply trying this has been such a huge motivation, I can't even put it into words.
IDC if you are some average guy or Jason from Friday 13 in real life, but your simple comment reminding me to try this was like a.. life saver (I hate this cliche expression, but I can't find a better one).
I ended up monkeying around the double-mini to see if I still got it, and now I'm here with every muscle and joint sore, but I can't remember being this "hopeful" and happy towards myself in a long time.
Really, and I mean it. Thank you.
EDIT: At my peak form I was a little over 70kg with 5~8% body fat. It makes it extra hard to look at myself in the mirror now, and I've never been this out of shape in my life, so it's hard to find motivation past the "shame" I feel. Thank you again man.
@@rrs_13 I'm so glad you attempted it, and better still that you beat a minute. I would never come close. I am sure it is hard going from being really in shape to not so much, but take one day at a time. I never was much of anything, and at my age, 46, and self destructing body I never will be, but I stay in decent enough shape to turn a few heads. Mainly, I want to stay healthy for my children until I'm 70ish. Walking is probably the best thing I do to stay in shape. 3-5 miles in an hour to hour and a half 3 or 4 days a week. The gym 2 or 3 times a week as my body allows keeps me 170-180 at 5'7". My diet could be much cleaner, but that weight range allows me some leeway and helps me keep some bulk to not feel like a weakling. My goal is to not be injured and don't chase past glory (remember I stated I was never much special so it is easy) and just stay active. I push myself in the gym, but nowadays it is 4-5 sets of each body part and I'll never go back to one body part a day doing sets until I couldn't do anymore. Let any guilt go. Dad bods are loved after all. Skeletons are good too, and you can build from there as health permits. If you aren't at a gym go for it and just start very slow with high reps and low weights. I barely use free weights and stick to the machines. I think going will make you happy and more motivated. Keep me updated here if you get back into it. You probably have so much functional strength, you could just do body weight exercises at home. I am too lazy to do anything at home, so that is why I need the gym membership. Good luck and no matter what happens stay positive.
@@rrs_13 Great job! I'm curious if you used similar grip devices that are shown in this video though. They're quite thick and they also rotate, which I guess would make one's grip fail even faster than a standard ring.
@@sportsentertained That's why I went back to my former gymnasium, to use these rolling grip thingamajigs; hanging from a regular bar fairly easier than this. I did however have it set up high enough so I didnt have to bear this whilst bending my elbows. Maybe that's an unfair advantage? :\
I also have frigging big hands and long fingers (people used to say I should play the bass), and looking at Magnus in this video, my grip is substantially bigger, as in I could almost touch my index with my thumb. I can only ballpark the thickness of the things they used in this video, but it seemed pretty much the same. IDK.
Maybe the way I did it makes it not proper to compare it with this challenge, but I don't really care. I'm not competing versus Magnus nor anyone else, just against my biggest enemy: pessimistic me. And each time I do something to counter that douchebag doppleganger of mine, I'm winning vs him.
I love the collaboration with Anton! I would like to see more videos with him ^_^
Finally we see Magnus and Anton again. More from this dynamic duo please
That other dynamic duo with the bobsled dude was very positive as well. great vibes

Good to see you guys together again!❤
These people are so friendly. I love it.
You knew what you were doing with that thumbnail, and we love you for it.
thumb over is always better for static hanging. I've tried both ways so many times it never fails to be better than thumb gripping. My theory is that using your thumb engages ALL the rest of your musles in your hand, wrists and forearms leading to lactic acid buildup much much faster whereas just throwing your fingers over the top allows a much more relaxed hang. Its like carpeltunnel/tendonitis. Those disorders really flare up and hurt when you engage the thumb because of the tension and strength it requires. At least for my mom. Not sure if that is really common but it would make sense to me
That looks crazy hard, respect to all who managed even half the time! As a woman with small hands I'd struggle to hold on at all even though I've done some climbing. Would be interesting to try a much smaller rolling handle though to get an idea of how much it differs from a fixed bar.
The fat grip makes it super hard. I've got some non spinning fat grips installed on part of my pull up bar and it is so much harder to hang from than just the bar. Practically turns it into an endurance test of pinch grip strength.
this isn't a fun challenge. you need to be tall (big hands) and skinny.
@@goku445 no, you just need to do the „dead hang“ some days a week for 30-45 seconds. I am not skinny and can do it. It is called training 😜
@@bk7212 this size of the handle is teh thing. If you have big hands you have a better grip
@@goku445 100%. I can easily hang from a chin up bar for 60 seconds but with a giant rolling grip, it looks a lot harder.
Fun video Magnus. Thanks for doing this.
The issue in this video is not whether you can hang for 60 seconds, it's whether you can hang with the oversized , thick handles.
Nice Thumbnail Magnus! Hooked me like a fish 😆 Plus Anton is in it which is awesome.
