Sohvi should not worry about her face or looking happy, she is the coolest sailor out there 😸😸
I agree, but I also think credit should be given to them both as being pretty cool
Oh Sohvi is "cool and calm" I like her quiet awareness!
Sochi, don't worry if people say you are not looking excited. You are very brave, very pretty and just a bit shy😊
I used to watch many cruisers but after a few years of one sandy beach after another, I got board. You on the other hand, never fail to impress me with your locations and your excellent drone footage. You are the only one I watch still.
Agreed, unique!
In the future, if you want to move a boat along the shore like at 10:15 you can tie a long line to the rear of the boat and another to the bow on the side closest to you pull the rear line toward where you want to go and the bow will move out away from shore. Balance the tendency of the bow to move away with the forward line. It's an old canoeing trick that can save you wading in the water
Good idea!
Sohvi has a very beautiful smile - that you only see it some of the time is a feature - no kind of a problem! This was another great episode - nobody else is doing this.
I love the way it sounds your language.
Doctor Shovi eating nachos after being scared. 😅
That was definitely a sketchy entrance/exit. It was worth it once you were in the maze of icebergs. 🤯
Thanks for looking out for your fellow cruisers and alerting the authorities for help. And, thanks for taking me to somewhere I will never go.
Beautiful prints, beautiful girl and beautiful boat. You're onto a winner mate, thanks for you're awesome channel.
Awesome prints.
Sohvi has a lovely face, the good thing is she doesn't show panic. 👍😉💚
So nice to see Sohvi back aboard. Impressive framed pictures. Spectacular episode!
For the 9:30 time. There is a Norwegian saying, which probably is also known in Finland. It is never too late to give up. Which means that if any adventure or challenge is too risky it is not at all a shame to give up and turn back. Better safe than sorry. You have made the right choice to not stress that entrance against the glacier river.
We use that all the time in New Zealand too, I think we actually picked it up from you guys! When you're doing something dangerous, safety is the most important thing and you're better off climbing half of a mountain than dying at the summit
This sailing channel is so unique. I love it! Thank you both so much!
Sohvi is cool, calm and gorgeous.
Amazing scenery. Bit of a scary place. Thanks for showing us.
The footage you capture is nothing short of spectacular.
thanks so much Joe!
WATCHING YOU BOTH IS GREAT... THE FEELING OF HUMANITY YOU EXPORT TO US THE VIEWERS IS VERY BIG GUYS ... GOD BLESS YOU ... SHE BEARS THE POWER OF THE LONG-TERM PRESENCE OF THE HUMAN BEING ON EARTH ...
Please don't ever worry about viewers who think you too much this or that. Be you...whoever you are. If they think you too much this or that they can spend their time elsewhere
Sohvi is not only one of CZcams's coolest sailors, but also one of the cutest. Such stupid comments are nothing to worry about. Fantastic video with incredibly beautiful pictures! And then not only Sohvi, but also the landscape, sparse colors that are rendered wonderfully. Many thanks for what you do and really hope you can continue 😃💕⛵
The footage is not only cool from content stand point, but also as an artistic piece. You could say it's a part of a Discovery show and I would believe it. Very nice!
Really cool footage of boating up the glacier streams!
Both of you have out done yourselves. AMAZING video episode.
You are correct about the dangers of the sea near Seward. I have had some close calls over the years. Years ago I was employed as a State Park Ranger and myself and another fellow were tasked with building a recreation cabin at Caines Head State Park. Bear Glacier is a couple of miles south of where we spent 6 weeks constructing the cabin. The weather can be very unpredictable and dangerous in Resurrection Bay, especially in the fall. Our only transportation was by an old 18 ft Boston Whaler with a 60hp motor. We worked Monday through Thursday and we went home on the weekends. We transported all of our materials, cement and mixer, tools cabin logs and the two of us to the site from Seward. When there is no wind or high waves, its possible to nudge into the beach and quickly unload. The day we transported all of the log to the site we had very high winds and 5ft- 7ft seas. We towed a 20ft motorless skiff/barge full of thousands of pounds of log at around 5mph all the way from Seward. Looking back, that seemed like a good idea. When we saw the beach there was NO way we could land and no way we could we turn around and tow the skiff against the wind and waves back to Seward. We had timed our arrival for high tide and ended up throwing the logs one at a time overboard hoping the wind would push them up on the beach. All I could think of is, we are screwed, the winds and tide are going to push all of the logs out to the open sea and I was going to have to explain why we lost $12,000 worth of logs and did not build a cabin. If we didn't dump the logs, we would run out of gas and drift towards Hawaii and a boat full of cabin logs. Fortunately, when we finally managed to land at low tide, we found all of our logs at the high tide mark and carried them up to the building site and got to work that week. Just another day at work in Alaska. LOL . Unfortunately, we were unable to tow the skiff back to Seward since we burned up almost all of our fuel towning the heavy skiff. It was now late Thursday and we had to be back at the dock to check in. If we didn't check in, they assured us they would contact the Coast Guard. It seemed like the office was always worried about us for some reason and we made it back to town on fumes. LOL When we returned Monday the harbor master chased us down as we fueled at the dock and informed us we had caused some stress for them and the Coast Guard. They were not real happy with us. While we were gone we had a very low tide and our skiff, that we had left on a big anchor on Thursday, went dry at low tide. As the tide came back up the rear of the skiff banged on some rocks and the stern plug broke and the skiff sunk on the rising tide. An airplane flew over, noticed the sunk boat and all of the rescue organizations got pretty excited. We had a little explaining to do. We where told that we had to remove the sunken skiff from the depths because they were receiving a lot of calls from aircraft. Some how it seemed like this was our punishment. lol When we arrived back at the beach, the skiff was sitting high and dry at low tide and it held hundreds of gallons of sea water and it would not move. We had an old 4-wheeler at the building site so we managed to get the bow turned and pointed up the beach. My partner hand bailed as fast as could while I carved a wooden plug. We managed to pound the plug into the stern drain hole just as the rising tide reached the boat. We slowly pull it out of the water with the tide almost like we knew what we were doing? lol Another day, another adventure. lol Oh....and then there is the time we bounced a borrowed boat off of an unseen submerged rock at almost 50 mph, on the lowest tide of the year, rounding the point to Bear Glacier. Just another day at work. 🙄 I enjoy your videos and adventures in Alaska, I do miss the ocean.
You guys have something rare for me, and those who cannot stomach the dramatization of something already dramatic. Also, share your anxiety about visiting these remote places, it's real and cool.
That boat won the lottery when you two found her.
😀
The ethereal beauty of the ice-filled lagoon was breath taking, thank you
If you make it to Homer, AK find Deerfoot II in the harbor and come to dinner.
This episode made me feel kind of chilly. But the ice explains that. : - ) I like the photos but don't have enough money to buy one. But I do hope lots of other people have spare money to buy them. I do think they are worth the price you are asking.
Welcome back Sohvi!! Great photos!! Your a genius!!
How to get off that berth? Rig a bow spring and motor forward against it, release the stern line, then, when you're happy your stern is out far enough go into neutral, cast off the spring and motor astern to exit. Headsail leech flapping? Move the car forward. Taking your dinghy to potentially dangerous places? Have an anchor ready and a spare prop for the outboard. Good luck...
Ignore them, Sohvi. I enjoy both of our personalities, as you live this unique lifestyle, and share it with us.
Beautiful week to you and Sohvi!🌊⛵🏔️🌼💙
That looks like something in a dream! Very cool.
It really is like another planet!
Amazing video! 🥰❤😍
Beautiful prints! 😍🤩
Beautiful footage. The print idea is so good, you have access to areas and scenery few do and I'd much rather watch an "ad" for your art than for some silly product. Keep going with this... it can really support you in a poetic way.
This was a very beautiful episode! Your commentary about climate change is important. Dear Sophie, your impressed face is just perfect! The world does not need more demonstrations of overly dramatic enthusiasm! (I have a dear friend who is a Finn who tells me about the naturally subdued Finnish nature) Many thanks for your stunning productions!
thanks so much Irene!
Couldn't have put it better👍
Spectacular footage. A feast for the eyes! Drones do add value. Thank you Juho and Sohvi for these one of a kind experiences. Beautiful.
A visual feast indeed!
That was spooky!! What an amazing place.
Absolutely stunning cinematography ❤
Very lucky you guys just happened to come by,could of been a disaster for those people 👍The view is breathtaking
Spectacular episode
I spent a summer in Seward. Juho's photography is gorgeous, but you really can't replicate the blues of the ice. Truly surreal, the air itself is actually blue, especially as the sun gets lower. And the scale of the mountains along that coastline is epic & equally difficult to convey. All you can do is undersell it like they both do here; it's humbling and truly awe-inspiring.
Just thinking back to when Lumi was in a sorry old state shoreside and unloved. You brought her back to life and given her the opportunity to enjoy such fantastic adventures. Having now sailed her for quite some while how do you assess her capabilities and is there anything she needs to improve her performance?
wow, this seem between fantastic and eerie. I do not know how I earlier missed that episode of yours.
Cheers,
a.
Wow! I can feel the tension in the air when you entered the glacier river! Great material!
I’ve only watched half of the episodes so far I have to say that it’s actually one of your best, as far as shear adventure. Seward Alaska is a pretty cool spot. My ex girlfriend and her friends owned a large sailboat there and used to do the local yacht club races. It can get quite windy there.
Looking forward to the episode, showing the rescue. There are several things that I take whenever I go to Scheurer here in Southeast Alaska. One of those being a waterproof handheld VHF radio in a waterproof bag, my Delorme inreach Satellite communicator, a small airhorn, extra water and snacks, and, of course, a canister of bear spray. All of this goes into a dry bag. It looks like the people who you helped rescue didn’t have back up means of communication and that is always a big mistake here in Alaska.
Glad to see you and Sohvi stop and rethink your expedition to the glacial outflow river. An inflatable dinghy is not the very best thing to take for something like that. If I were going to do that myself, I would be in a small aluminum dinghy with an outboard jet drive engine. I owned a 16 foot dinghy with a 50 horse outboard that had a jet drive on it, and I could take it Over wet sand if I had enough speed. Plus, the aluminum was pretty bulletproof. Nonetheless, you were smart to use your oars while around those icebergs. I don’t know if those icebergs were floating or not but if they were floating, just remember, icebergs will flip sometimes.
Lovely from beginning to end! I almost feel like doing some sailing in the frigid north, and I hate the cold.
Awesome episode and artwork
I think you may have cured the fluttering leech on the genoa if the sheet car had been moved forward a little. The theory goes that if the car is right there is no need to use any foot or leech line for tension to correct the lack of equal pressure as the air flow leaves the sail. Obviously, it is a constantly changing issue as the wind strength changes so not a cure-all.
Wow, thank you for sharing your adventures! I'm hooked!
Hi, Adding my voice to all the people enjoying seeing Sohvi back. Knowing and caring to coordinate her hat, bag, and I'm sure her gloves too, even in the back waters of Alaska, that's the sign of a real, proper Lady.
By the way, I'm so grateful that you are doing this, So I don't have to. I love seeing the sights but I cant stand the cold. I do live in the country next to the one you guys hail from, and spent my first summer in Råneå skärgård, and am now trying to go somewhere tropic for the winter. Yours, Ann
Great episode! Nice to see Sohvi's impressed face again. 😅
😎😎
Absolutely stunning and unique video!
Amazing experience but what if the icebergs closed off your route back to the boat, you couldn’t walk back ! Right up there with danger / reward!!! Glad you made it
Juho, if you can show us some more impressions on aluminium in the future...I will definitely find one for me... gorgeous work, keep going !
Good to see the Boss back.
These prints are a-ma-zing!
I don't think of encountering problems as your miscalculation. This is adventure on the edge. You are planning with available information and making guesses as best as experience allows but proceeding with due caution considering the dangers and isolation. Pat yourselves on the back you are true adventurers (almost New Zealanders) Love the vids, they are great quality so don't minimise your skills. Thanks for sharing. Be safe out there. like to know more about you both and family life etc if you can feel okay to share.
That's a superb episode - the videography and your choice of very subtle music really conveys the environment brilliantly. I also love the originality of the aluminium prints - SO much better to be using your creativity rather than taking the convenient option of paid product placement.
I admire your adventurous spirit, allows us to go and see where we may fear to "tread". Excellent video as usual.
Thank you for the exciting video you send out, it is so good to see areas other than the sunny Med. I think you both look very nice, look after yourselves. Chris.m
The scenery that you share in each video is truly awesome - this episode has been no exception. Absolutely beautiful shots and I really enjoyed your adventure through the ice in the lake. Your photographs are amazing. Thanks for sharing with us. Stay safe and I am looking forward to your next episode. :-)
Stunning videography! You are going places few if any people will ever see in person. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I like to think of it as a division-of-labor kind of thing where videographers go out and explore for us at home to experience vicariously (done plenty of travel myself, just other stuff).
Also, through technological advancement this has been sort of democratized (it used to be that one dude and his team filming for national broadcast associations) so we can pick whos interpretation we like best.
And yes, at the other end of this technological liberation is the fact that humans are vain and you get the desaster that is selfie traffic jams in randomly beautiful but ultimately rural spots.
Beautiful prints
Simply stunning😊 ,
I think the pictures are great. I bought 2 for on my wall
Keep up the great work
Thanks!
Dude took my “money shot“ comment seriously and turned the shot into money, the print on demand feature makes this a very valid product and you have soo many great shots to pick from!
beautiful video guys, glad you got the crew back lol.
I'm impressed haha! Ps waves might not look big on camera but it is worth saying that cameras seem to shrink wave sizes by over half. Not sure why, some mystical effect I can't explain.
Rivers are no joke. The amount of water moving through that shallow bed is powerful and relentless.
Just amazing!
That’s my impressed face 😂
welcome to the club! :D
Wow what adventures and experiences! Great to see you back again. The pictures look fantastic too! Well done!
Fantastic footage❤
You're onto a winner with that photography! Look into it, some photographers do quite well.
20:11 I gotta say Juho's impressed face is much more convincing 😂😂. Almost like a movie star! But Sohvi is the coolest sailor....
you are so adventourus and brave, no other people will provide us with such amazing footage…ist like being deported to another world….and what a gift you could bethe guardian angels for this other couple in need
Another great episode with wonderful scenerie. Your boat is indeed made for this it seems.
Wonderful prints.
🇨🇦🇨🇦Just love your videos. Best I have ever seen . Such a wonderful scenic views and journey for you both. THANK YOU for taking the World along with you. 🇨🇦🇨🇦 Take care 😊
Love the vibe! Thanks
I usually watch your videos from another channel, but just wanted to say how much I love them. Your videos are always breathtaking, and you both have a nicely ironic and laid-back delivery that as a Brit, I really appreciate lol.
We looked at your beautiful prints - actually really fair prices and shipping isn’t that bad, so we’re tempted. Talking about it now…
How on earth do you choose only 3 shots?! Must be impossible…you always have such beautiful footage, you could have a million choices.
Keep up the good work and thank you both for making this lovely channel. It’s always a treat to see your videos pop up… 👏 🧊 ⛵️
Yes, when you reach the age of grandparents, you may be among the last people to have seen the ice cream...
A privilege you'd probably prefer to do without, but a privilege all the same!
Thanks for sharing!
Amazing episode ❤
I love the prints - With all the views you experience, there is so much more potential to share them... I look forward to more options!
Put a couple small foam floats on the drone so it does not sink. (like a sea plane)
Great video amazing place to see.
hiding from the weather. troms 💝 best wishes from new zealand
thanks for your vote! :)
Your prints look great!
In Alaska the outdoors can be both wonderful and dangerous, so the way you helped that endangered group of people is very admirable.
don't worry, you still are more expressive than Räikkönen
Got the smart and beautiful girl back. Just make sure to show her a good time. Such winning lol.
Your better half is back!! YEA, Sophie!!! I love your prints but being retired I'm afraid they are not something I can splurge on. I wish you the best of luck with your sales though!! ❤
Wow, another stunning, amazing video. Such great videography. Thanks for the armchair experience!
Lol,a few years ago I was in the exact same spot in Steward with my 18" runabout and got stuck during low tide,. Kudos to you!
Thanks! So amazing!! Spectacular! ❤
Loved this video! Absolutely spectacular footage - just magical. Loving the prints!!!
Nice choice of music
That would be my face, too. It’s just so much to take in. So yea. That’s how I would be looking.
Thanks for showing the awkward moments like getting away from the dock- these things keep it real!
