    I watched the whole video. Thanks for making such a comprehensive review!!

    Watched the whole video (great humor :)) because I was interested in the R5C as a companion to my R5. I'll probably wait for R5II first because I'm still mostly photos first. Great video. and thanks for your input on the R5C

      Supposedly the R5 MK II will still have that 30-minute recording limit. But I am struggling to decide between the R5C or waiting for the R5 MK II myself.

    The only dummy battery for 8k60 you mention in your video. Just before saying there is not one. The Canon DR-E6C DC Coupler for EOS R5 C. I have seen a few other videos using that with an Anton Bauer P-Tap to Canon 9V Regulated Connector (p/n 8075-0271) anton-bauer-8075-0271-p-tap-canon / 8075-0271.

    Thanks so much for the detailed analysis. I own an A7IV right now, I do a lot of small commercials and am at a crossroads right now! Black Friday has me looking at an Fx30 or switching to the R5C completely… so tough lol

    • @robinferand
      @robinferand Před 7 měsíci

      That depends if you own a large set of Sony lenses, but keep in mind that with the fx line, I don’t think you can shoot stills (at least it wasn’t the case when I tried it) if you plan to keep the a74 as b-cam then maybe stick to Sony for colour matching :)

      @@robinferandcan shoot stills with FX30, just no mechanical shutter. Everything digital. FX30 is the only one with higher MP count.

    Thank you for your insightful video. Do you know if there is a way to remotely view and set the focus area on the R5C while in the Video mode? I know that start/stop recording can be triggered by a remote shutter button. And, will
    the R5C connect to the Canon Camera Connect app when paired with an external Wi-Fi grip? Thank you, Alan

    • @robinferand
      @robinferand Před 7 měsíci

      Yes, you will need the Canon Wifi Grip made for the R5C and R5. This will allow you to control the camera and view the feed from an iPad for example.

      That grips costs!

      @robinferand Před 3 měsíci

      Yes it does. And from what I’ve heard it’s not even that good.
      I’m really hoping canon will add a feature update so that we can at least remote control from a smartphone/tablet. Most of us don’t care about sending proxies via wifi

    Very good review... Thankyou..
    Have you used the Tilta PD Handle.. ?
    It's pretty good ... I use the Autel usb cable which is super short so have no wires dangling down..
    Would like to see your process of setting up the R5C settings to record different settings....
    I think you will find Canon supporting the R5C Firmware wise for quite some time.

    I use FX3 for small commercial , I think looking R5C , Clog3 have better dynamic rang Slog3 ?

    • @d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212
      @d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212 Před 7 měsíci

      No Clog 3 has less dynamic range. Clog 2 is Canons best log and they only gave that to their higher cinema cameras.

    Is it better than r5?

    • @robinferand
      @robinferand Před 4 měsíci

      For video yes, for photo it's the same without ibis. So if you're shooting more photos, get the R5 (or R5 Mark2 when it comes out) if you are doing more video, get the r5C

    Your dynamic range of 14 stops may be hiding in your Raw options!! Try it.

    • @robinferand
      @robinferand Před 7 měsíci +1

      I did yes. It looks great with C-Log 2. But all projects cannot be in 8K Raw. It would be nice to have C-Log 2 in XF-AVC :)

    • @JosephRossPhotography
      @JosephRossPhotography Před 7 měsíci

      Definitely not in all projects but it’s possible. Gotta go with Red if you looking for the highest dynamic range.

    • @velvetsound

      I have the r5c and a ninja v+. The best dynamic range I can get from the R5c camera is HDMI Raw 8K to Ninja V+ ProResRaw, and transcode to cDNG and do NR in Resolve on a 4K timeline… or just use Final Cut where ProRes raw works natively. I have an R6 mk ii as well and use that for stills and as a b cam. That shoots 6K Raw to Ninja V+ on a 4K timeline and looks just as good and has almost as good dynamic range. Resolve not having ProRes RAW native support is the only thing that makes that workflow annoying when you need that dynamic range. XF AVC 10-bit all I with clog 3 is fine unless you need high DR, then I mess with the RAW workflow (eg: green screen).

      yes it does but not accurate as my r5, and r5 has auto focus in 4k 120p but it is fun to use specially the image quality is really good
