  • Common issue with Linear GD00Z-5/4 Z-Wave GoControl Garage Door Opener is it does not open or close after receiving the signal. It will beep with no light flash after receiving the signal but will not switch the garage door opener Common fail rate is 1-2 years. Almost all users experience the problem after only a year.

Great video, glad you saved it from the landfill! The LED apparently falls out of spec over-time in terms of resistance. The GD00Z actively monitors the functionality of the LED (for safety reasons), and when it drifts too far, it will stop opening the door. If you don't want to source the LED---and redo this repair again in a few years---this also works with a 3.3ohm resistor soldered on those two pads, or 3 10ohm resistors in parallel. Mine made it 8 years before it failed like this. I had 3 10ohms resistors on hand, but it will look a little tidier with a 3.3 ohm. There are some good forum posts out there that describe the problem in more detail.

Thanks for this video. Same thing happened to mine a few weeks ago and just figured out it's the led. Unfortunately there is no stock anywhere for this part right now. I may have to just use a resistor like you said. Is it the same process?

My LED turns on and blinks white when I try to open my garage door but nothing happens - door doesn't open :(
I wonder if something different has failed on the board.

I just installed a brand new unit and it failed within 30 days! So it looks like I need to do this trick myself. Has yours held up so far?
