Thanks for the play-through.The final score (of 35 vs 20) pretty much reflects the starting Influence totals of the two sides (15 vs 8). I suspect the main contribution to the final score was due to the fact that the Dark Side has such a low starting Influence total (of only 8). Due to the fact the Light Side had nearly twice the starting Influence (of the Dark Side), it isn't that surprising the Dark side only had half the score of the Light Side. Even if these low Influence characters have more powerful Action card (something I haven't really checked yet), trying to take on a 15 Influence side with only an 8 Influence side is going to be super hard.
Concerning the point you made about knowing the Location card can lead to an "early" win, this is indeed true but I guess the idea is Mission cards can supply an unpredictable bonus and thus allow a come from behind win.
The game does seem to some depth to it (despite if being a family friendly style of game). Playing the odds on the dice roll can provide some good insight as to where you should apply (or concentrate your forces). The tie-breaker effect of the High ground seems to balance the disadvantage of going first for placement and on Action card play. I think the game could work well for gamers as well as for casual play.
Totally agree! Setting up most combos in this game is truly tricky, given all the pieces that have to line up. So, at least until Series 2 is released, it seems that the two biggest impacts to a card's strength are base influence, and ability to draw extra Action cards/take extra actions. (That second part is why Wicket/C-3PO is such an extremely powerful duo, even though both have only 2 base influence.) Thanks for the kind words!!
Dude yea. My mom and my brother play with me, and they always choose the dark side. And my favorite star wars character is boba fett, so I always play with him. And they always choose, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Comander Cody. And one time I played with boba fett, Stormtrooper Commander, and TX-20. Let's just say it they can't compete with high influence characters. I hope they can possibly release new cards for the overpowered and underpowered characters, so that the game can be a little bit more balanced.
@@luiscaldera2200 I think it can be easily balanced by saying each side has a Influence limit. When you build a team you cannot have more than (say) 12 Influence for the team. This forces you to try out different combinations of character and not just select three 6 Influence characters each time.
@yotelex hmm yea I'll tell my family if they want to try that. But both players will have to agree to a limit. Or maybe like an actual tournament legal rule can be made to have an actual balanced limit, for both sides to be happy with.
A few ideas my friends and I came up with to limit the dominance of the light side:
-Players bring 5 character squads, then each player gets to block two of their opponent's charcacters and both players use the remaining 3 characters.
-Each player has to use at least one token character
-Players snake draft from all available characters until both players have a light side and dark side squad.
-Always play two games, once as each side, then take the aggregate score of both games

Game looks like cheap, quick, and easy fun. The only glaring downside is that there is no R2 in the first edition
Just picked this game up and very excited to play! The collector in me really wants to get all the characters and when you said convention exclusive characters I was curious if the booster boxes that came out at Fundays guaranteed you got those 2 exclusives or if it was still random? Also are those the only 2 convention exclusives so far?
Yes! They are guaranteed! They come shrink wrapped together, and the illustrations on the back of the boxes show the two exclusive characters. Currently, they are the only con exclusives, and they will eventually have a wide release as part of a future wave (but with different poses). If you check my channel, I did a full unboxing video. :)

I had them printed from original artwork my daughter created. I'll be giving a pair away as part of my next SWR video, as well as a part of some upcoming SWR tournaments. :)
