    Video info: Kings of Leon is a band consisting of the three brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their nephew Matthew Followill. They’re a rock band that formed in Nashville, Tennessee back in 99 and has created a legacy for being one of the biggest rock bands of the 00s and 2010s. In today’s video i thought i’d look at how they created one of their biggest hits, Closer. A melancholic, effect-drenched and incredibly satisfying song that features one of my favorite guitar riffs from the band. We’ll talk about the song’s odd sound effects, epic guitar riffs and their set of compositional techniques. This is Closer, by Kings of Leon.

    Nathan's mastery of stumbling into the melody, using the "dotted kick-and-snare pattern" seems to be Nathan's signature move. I think it's stunning what he can evoke from a drum kit.
    I've struggled to describe his use of bursts of melodic drumming. This description comes as close as I've heard.

      @jovanreid6782 Před 3 lety

      @@LieLikesMusic Hey what's up, man!!! Yeah that was a really great lineup, for sure- but I think Dave Ghrol's entry in the band did well to overshadow the awesome lineup that preceded with Nick Lucero on 🥁 circa 2000. To me, the shows from a this time were epic, super tight, yet still kinda loose, and a little bit more raw than the 2002 lineup, therefore I like the 2000 lineup just a wee bit better. Anyways, love the channel and everything you've done, esp on Josh Homme, John Frusciante, The Mars Volta, and Tool. A video on TV on the Radio would be interesting, just to put that out there. Keep up the good work.

I would love it if you could devote some more time to their other tracks and how they evolved from a three chord adrenaline rock band to a more complex (and at times much more simple) sound.
