  • From the streets of Saint Petersburg to the pitches of the Premier League, Arshavin impressed supporters with his deadly pace, quick feet, and clinical eye for the back of the net. His story as a Russian hero and the number 23 for the Gunners of North London, is one that deserves to be told.

Goals and assists when playing in his favoured No. 10 position showed what a talent Arshavin was. Arshavin lost faith with Wenger when shunted out wide. Much of the criticism should go to Wenger, who bought Arshavin without planning how to combine him with Fabregas and Nasri who also wanted to play in the same position.

The booze and coke stories are on a Motley Crue level. Arshavin often wasnt able to train after heavy partying and sometimes showed up so drunk that he couldnt walk. Coach Advocaat did the impossible with Zenith during that time winning the Uefa Cup.

Great channel but just a correction on one thing: The booing during his substitution vs Man United was NOT directed at Arshavin. Ox-Chamberlain had been the man of the match during that game and the crowd were showing their dissaproval of Wenger's decision. Even RVP was seen reacting in frustration as well towards Wenger in that incident. It had nothing to do with Arshavin.

If he had enough age on his side, he'd have left arsenal for greener pastures after Wenger turned the club into mediocre. I don't buy the whole financial constant story. Wenger just didn't strike the right balance between building a team that's consistently competing and also building a stadium. Not saying it would be easy, but seeing the players Wenger brought in then, one could argue Wenger could've done better. If that team had slightly better players than we had then, and Wenger was also on his A-game, we could've won at least two EPL titles before Wenger left.
In all, I love Wenger but I can't help but be mad at him for his contribution to bringing this club to the level it is today.

HE ENDED UP A MILLIONAIRE, WHO COULD DO LOTS OF OTHER THINGS OUTSIDE HIS FOOTBALL CAREER, HE WAS A FANTASTIC TALENT, AND HIS NAME WILL LIVE ON, IF THATS A RISE AND FALL, GIVE ME THAT ANYDAY, THE ONLY FAILURE IN THIS SCENARIO, IS THE STUPID JOURNALIST WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAD ENDING.

well in an interview with Russian media he said that Barcelona offers Zenit a 15m transfer, and it's the dream club for him, but Zenit tries to make more and asked them for 25m. Barcelona rejected and Zenit signed an agreement with Arsenal for 22m. With Barca, he can win more trophies cuz they were at the pick.

Wenger couldn't replace Pires and ended up putting #10s and #9s at the left wing hoping to replicate him.

Is Arshavin though not like so many other football players. They might have 5 brilliant years, and the rest is just so and so. I think for anybody doing any job, there comes a point where there is just not so much motivation left.
His initial years as could be seen by his brilliance at Euro 2008 were fueled by a desire for achieveing something bigger and better, but once that has been achieved, as is the case for so many players, they are just satisfied with what they have achieved and let their careers falter.

Arsenal are a mean club to him he even said if we lose it’s always my fault and then from that day on he just fell

He could have shined for longer in North London had Wenger moved him back to his favourite position in the centre. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and aging Arshavin just couldn’t keep up…

No just NO. This is solely a Wenger fail. He keept pushing him out of his field to make room for players that wasnt better than him in that position. Wenger set him up for failure. The same way the club set up Özil for failure. Our strikers apart from RvP was shit to be honest for a team that wanted to win the title. And blaming Arshavin for this is just freaking wrong. Wenger made some horrible transfers because he was cheap as fuck.

Top level strikers are usually the most expensive transfers.. Thats why other players always get forced into that & other positions

Blame the top at Arsenal, not Wenger. They refused to spend any money for top stars. Can't blame Wenger for that. His hands are tied.

    • @denker032047146

@@adamh4h4 no that is not really true. Wenger had this view for a long long time that he didnt want to spend large amounts on players. And we have super rich owners that he just bend over for. And for him and the board getting top 4 was the only goal for every season. Never to win just to qualify for CL. And this started pretty much right after the unbeaten season.

Great player for the time he was at the club no complaints from me bar having my away shirt stolen from me, at least the fly emirates sponsor stayed on that kit.
