Video saved me this summer. Mine was super clogged with trash and metal shavings from the old compressor. Didn’t even know it had one. Thanks.
how did you know to check/change it? what symptoms did the system have?
Good evening family and thank you very much for the valuable information and for your time 🙏.
Looked high & low for an informative vid to find and replace ac orifice filter. 04 Ford F-150. Yours is it. Location, tool sizes and difficulty. Helpful vid.
Thanks
Dude greatest video I think that might be exactly whats wrong with my truck I will post the outcome
thanks, i thought the OT would be near the firewall, saved me a lot of time.
👍
Your video helped me thank you!
Good job explaining thanks bro
Sweet info
If it’s a struggle, I heat up the tube just a bit and that will free up the O-rings. Usually works
thanks for this, heat gun made the job much easier
@@halleffect1 I also use some hemostat pliers and clamp on to it if it’s to deep in the tube. Glad I was able to help
Great video.. Thank you.. Now lets go take out my orufacie
👍
A shop told me my ford ranger had a clogged condenser, but didn't believe them because i seen videos showing if the lines by the drier are not cold but bottom line of condenser is cold then your condenser is clogged. I then took my orifice tube out and it was full of gunk and oil. and my compressor was doing same thing, just clicking on for a second and going off. I wonder if it was just just the orifice tube. But it would take a lot of freon in but not holding it and i used some dye with a uv light and couldn't see any leaks.
Could be the that the condenser it was clogged or your compressor is not working anymore
@@autothechgarage6268 there wasn't anything wrong with compressor or condenser. After i replaced the orifice tube and blew air thru the evaporator in reverse flow i then bought a vacuum and pulled a vacuum and seen it was holding. Then after i put 2 cans of freon my compressor kicked on longer and longer and now i have cold air. So the shop charged me $95 for a wrong diagnoses.
@@dzorba1 😳
That orifice tube was really dirty so I'm thinking that the A/C system should have been flushed with an A/C flush cleaner.
question should you flush before or after replacing the orifice?
@@weatherman3 Neither. Not a mechanic, but you should flush BETWEEN replacing the orifice- take it out, flush the system, install the new one.
How can I do that?
Will probably help but nit 100 percent a requirement.
@@rockspoon6528 ok thanks
can this may be the cause of overhead my truck?
i allready change ther thermostate, radiador, water pump and im going for the cluch fan
No I don’t this may cause overheating if with the fan clutch still doing the same thing I’ll say the cooling system is clogged up or head gasket
Can you show how to conect the ac pipes to the compresser and how does the high and low pressure suppost to look like
Sorry but I don’t have the truck
That system requires 1.5 lbs of refrigerant or about 2 12oz cans. The mounting bolts for the compressor must be removed in order to remove the nuts holding the lines to the compressor. 25-45 psi for low side; 180-225 psi for high side
when you remove the filter, the gas from the A/C escapes and do you have to recharge it again or not?
Yes you have to discharge the A/C and yes you have to recharge it again
Is this the line that comes from the compressor to the ac condenser
That one comes from the condenser but I can’t remember where it connects
Is that line under pressure, do you have to take refrigerant out first?
Yes
I just have 1 question, would something like this have anything to do with my 07' f150 not cooling when stopped or idling ?
Last year, everything was fine, this year Ive cleaned the shit out my condensor & radiator, and piece of shot truck still spitting me hot air at idle or stopped.
@@ChadBelanger yes could be that or low Freon
My older 97 f150 is having same symptom. Can I simply open the AC pipe to access the Orifice? I thought these pipes/ hose were under pressure?
Yes you have to get the Freon out first
@@autothechgarage6268 thank you!
Hey I replaced orifice on 2008 Ford F-150 5.4 3v and the ac clutch stop working. I disconnected orifice tube when it was still hot and some coolant was lost. Any tips how fix the problem?? Please
When you say coolant you mean Freon? Or were was the coolant coming from
@@autothechgarage6268
I lost Freon at first I thought it was coolant… after ten minutes research I assuming ac clutch doesn’t not engage because no Freon
Yes with out Freon clutch won’t engage
@@autothechgarage6268
Oh ok thanks for help
I have a 2011 expedition and I can’t find tube urifice hlp
😅 3:57 3:58
how tf does it get that dirty?
Can this cause a leak inside the floor board?
No I don’t think so
that is a little grummet on the fire wall under the winshields
Did you ever post the vacuum video?
Here is a video on how to do the vacuum hope this helps czcams.com/video/MwCagPvCAuM/video.html
doyou have to drain freon to do this?
Yes
Yes
What motor ?
4.2
Do you have a 5.4 engine?
No it was 4.6 but it should be the same
@AutoThech Garage it was in the same location, thank you.
and I did it wrong 👍 I inserted the filter wrong
It happens 😅
That is from the compressor. You are not doing it right
What is from the compressor? What I’m doing wrong?
Those are Teflon rings from the piston inside the compressor. You should have replaced the condenser and accumulator and compressor ..You should have flush the evaporator
Oh ok thanks
@autothechgarage6268 No problem. They called it black death
@@michaelpatton5012how do you flush the evaporator?
