Good content, pandemic was a rough time for all of us and made other options more appealing. I'm hoping to be back to Los Angeles once the economy improves
Definitely! I suppose a lot of that population change will come in cycles
Us geography continuously blows my mind

Hereâs how bad the pricing is in LA: I know a guy who moved out there after college a decade ago. He got a great job as a data scientist, but he still couldnât afford to buy a decent home. He was making six figures, and it still wasnât enough for a decent home in a safe neighborhood, not with the taxes and high COL out there. He lived with two co-workers and saved/invested whatever he could.
Once the pandemic hit, he started working exclusively remotely. He went to stay with family in Nevada, liked the area, and now he lives in Henderson, about 20 minutes from Vegas. His taxes have plummeted, COL is lower, he has no commute 99% of the time since he works remotely, and he bought a NICE place in a nice neighborhood because his money goes much further across the state line. Heâs a decade into his career, so those six figures have gone up even more. On the rare occasion that he has an in-person meeting in LA that he canât miss, he can fly from Vegas to LAX in an hour and the plane ticket is cheaper than driving. He doesnât miss LA at all. The coworkers moved to Nevada after he raved about how much money he is saving.
LA will always have the allure, but once youâre actually there, the reality often doesnât match the dream. If you have money to burn, move out there. Otherwise, you might be better off setting up shop somewhere nearby thatâs cheaper, and just go into LA for meetings.
Great video!!
