I'm a 25+ year guitar player, and a tube amp snob. I went to a friends jam the other day and just brought my guitar, and happen to use this for the first time. I gotta say, I was really impressed with it. I was able to actually play effectively on it. 5 stars in my book.
Really can't knock it for the price!
I have a full Amplitube rig setup and love this unit - it's super easy to set up and edit patches. The only thing it's missing for me would be more foot controllers or an option to use my Behringer midi Controller. Other than that, this unit is awesome-sounding and really sounds killer!
Valeton drinking game, do a shot every time James says a hundred quid
Damn my kidneys can't take it anymore
😂😂😂 I should present for QVC
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial 😂 But wait, there's more!
@@87kderrick Hi its Jimmy with the Slap Chop!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Onions make me cry, just like hookers
Great video! i got mine yesterday,it's amazing what you get nowadays, build quality is fantastic, nice sound at the beginning, i will try to recreate it,thanks :)
Crazy right? I remember blowing a wedge on a Boss GT10 back in the day and the modelling wasn't as good as this unit.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Same here I had got the eye blinding GT-10 and GR-55 people made the GT-10 sound good in the video's but it was meh not that great in person so I really wanted to be sure about this buy I just got the GP-200 a few days ago I love the the physical knob layout for the amp controls and buttons for quick ease of use I'm just trying to tame the high end fizz it's a bit to bright for me so I'm looking into the global EQ settings and adding IR's sound great and the wet/dry rec options for the Daw are nice too there is so much to like for so little money with these Valeton pedals. I still use the GR-55 as the synth part of the pedal is still great but got rid of the GT-10 a long long time ago.
I find stupid that people value the metal chassis and the metal switches. The zoom G1X is lighter and better in every way in the interface, the knobs, and so on and is also very very solid.
The only downside is the IR that is outdated.
If they could update the IR, the zoom pedal would be a much better choice overall.
Are you buying the sound or the metal chassis?
This Valeton GP-100 is more than enough and awesome for entry level guitar player.
I am currently reviewing the new GP200LT and so far it seems hard to justify the extra spend over the GP100....
Even for Intermediate players, it´s an excelent device.
I was previously looking at the GP-200. There's no way I need that much at my level. This model looks great.
Great video, thank you! I'm looking for something to use to record my demos using Logic Pro without hammering my CPU by using the built-in amps and effects. I want to use JCM200 and Fender Twin models right now and although you didn't show those specifically, I think I can be confident that I'll get the sounds I want.
This will absolutely do that job!
I wish I had gotten the purple one but my black one was on the way. I'm a music producer and for what little you pay this is a smashing unit! I love the interface where you can custom create your own sounds, it's so simple to use and records very well too!
I'm currently working on a review of the new GP200LT which is the next size up from this but more than double the price and honestly Im struggling to justify the extra cost so far.... this GP100 easily sounds as good.
Sorry for late reply 10 months later, good to know that. I initially wanted some smoother less fizzy Distortions, that's my only gripe with the unit and was wondering if the new GP-200 Jr may have more options...?
The best review of this stuff on CZcams. Thanks pal!
Very kind comments thanks mate!
Mine works with IRs, I use a Fortin ir and a VDOP ir live with the GP100!
Thank you for the review! Seems to be a really nice device. But can it be used for acoustic electric guitars as well? I do not want any unusual (e.g. distortion, "space sounds", etc.), or ruin the instrument's natural sound with tons of effects... I just need some nice quality reverb, chorus, and a volume pedal. And considering the price of those if I buy them as separate items (3 analog pedals), the cost would be much more.
So that is why I'm thinking on a compact, but - in terms of sound - quality digital multi-effect solution. What do you think about this, please?
This does have acoustic guitar amps, and you're able to get clean tones on it. I use the expression pedal as a volume pedal all the time for swells and such.
Currently have 1 GP100 planning on buying another one instead of GP200 since i dont have the budget for it. Would you recommend 2 valeton gp100? Or should u buy stompboxes instead?
Great chill review as always. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
Totally Amazing James!!!!! Valeton sounds very balanced and absolutely great 😃
If possible, I would like to ask a question. These units also have a use that almost nobody mentions in their reviews.I have my rig but would like to buy this unit to play with headphones. Has looper, drum machine and cab simulation everything to make it a good solution to use with headphones. So my question. It's a good solution, it has a good sound when used with headphones? Thanks
This should be an ideal unit for use with Headphones. I cant comment on the Looper or Drum functionality but really for the price I consider them a nice bonus to play with!
lmao @ them having a "Pogner" cab. Really enjoyed this vid - cool idea
I couldnt figure out what the "Mess EQ" was supposed to be either?
Hello sir. I just received my gp-200 and I really appreciate the download you are offering. Could you please create acoustic presets for download? Thank you.
Great video! I just bought the Gp-100 a couple days ago and really like it. But I have questions about recording. Hope you can help. I'm not sure where to start. My setup is a bit weird. The unit is going through an old Phonic Powerpod 820 PA. I have it plugged into the first two channels, panned left and right for stereo effect. It sounds great. I have the USB from the Valeton plugged into my desktop PC, which is then USB'd into my TV. I use the TV as my monitor. I also have a PreSonus AudioBox iTwo interface into the PC. But the power button for the external speakers I had broke. But I assume the TV speakers will still work with that (I haven't tried yet). For recording I'm just using Cakewalk. Cakewalk recognizes the ASIO software from Valeton, I guess from the USB connection, but I'm not getting a signal into the recording software. Do I need to use the PreSonus interface with the Valeton? I was lead to believe the Valeton was an interface. Also, I have to admit, I'm not good with any recording software. I'm missing something. Thanks for reading this if you have. Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Dude this is a crazy complicated setup 😂😂😂. I've seen Stadium gigs with more straightforward signal chains. I actually think if you're using the Valeton as a USB interface it will disable the output jacks no?
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Sorry it took me a while to respond. Honestly, it's all too damned confusing to me. Stadium gigs usually don't have to rely on someone who's on social security, thus the convoluted setup. But, no. If you're talking about the output jacks on the Valeton I should be able to plug them into the two ins of the Audiobox iTwo. I use the usb of the Valeton just for the software and the Tv monitor and speakers (turned out the tv speakers work fine). So, instead of plugging the Valeton into the PA, I should be able to plug it into the ins of the Audiobox to get a signal to the recording software, Right? I have no freaking clue!
Hi, did you found solutions to record on pc or better on phone using the gp100 USB port?
I bought this pedal which I do really like it. But I’m having a issue with mine my display screen went blank white screen but it still works I can still use it with the software on my computer so I can see the display. I also contacted VALETON about the issue with the display screen on my pedal going blank white screen they told me to replace the power supply I did and still didn’t fix my screen problem so I’m stuck with the pedal just can’t see any of pedal effects but I still like the pedal it’s really cool great video 👍😎🎸🤘
Ah that sucks man. Did you purchase it from Amazon? They normally are really good about returns/exchanges
I use this with a Boss HM2, so I just have the Valeton for amp sims and effects. The distortion on it is a lil yucky in my humble opinion so I’d suggest having a separate distortion pedal you like
Is it good for live gig as a starter?
Yes
Great video! Pretty good for $100. Seems to be lacking in low end but pretty good nonetheless. My headphones are decent but sounds kinds thin. Is it like that live?
I wouldn't say its lacking in low end no, I do tend to low-cut fairly aggressively with my patches which may be why. Thanks for watching!
I agree with James I have to decrease the low end and sometimes the Mids slightly, plus with the Global button you find the EQ section.
IR's load fine on mine... Well execpt for slot 20, if you use the last IR slot, the patch goes full on mute until you change the IR to anything else.
Mate I live in a cave still.what is the IR .dies it just nean setting your own sound patch or the software PC jargon.?
@@homegrowndave Impulse Response - It's basically a capture of a speaker cabinet with a certain Mic and a certain setup. Think of them as more customised Cabinet Simulations. With a modeller like this you would disable the Cabinet Simulation and use your choice of IR instead.
Hey man! Loved the video. I’ve been seeing some reviewers that say that they experience a slight delay between them pressing the footswitch and the preset switching in, has that been an issue for you? Many thanks!
It does have some delay but I wouldnt say its any more of an issue than any other modeller at this price point.
I paid mine 60 quids. I will probably buy a couple more, it's really nice. Too bad the screen so little.
Crazy bargain!
I need to finally get a modeler
This is a good place to start!
Nice review.
I have one and didn't even realise the expression pedal is made of metal! Duh!
OH yeah it's a little tank and I only just found the EQ section under the Global button so duhh me too 😂👍
OH yeah it's a little tank! Hey don't feel so bad I only just found the EQ section under the Global button so duhh me too 👍😂
The last update included a new fussy global eq, iirc, but personally, I'd have preferred if they'd just added a less complicated 3 band eq..
Will you do a review/test of the Neural DSP Quad Cortex? Please!
Sure will! I have a friend loaning me one hopefully soon..
After buying and selling the GP200 5 times and couldn’t get it to sound good for going direct to FRFR or direct to PA I decided to buy a used GP100. This sounds so much better going direct to FRFR. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
FIVE times? 🤣
Yes 5 separate times and sold them 5 times. I wanted it to at least compare to my Nux MG 30 for going direct live and in my opinion never achieved it. I like this little 100 though.
Merhaba bu üründe pitch shift, phase, reverb, delay, oktave mevcut mu
are the delays good?
In regards to the 3.5mm headphone jack I just use an aux cable to connect it to any speaker
I also connect the Valeton GP-100 from it's 3.5 mm headphone jack into the smaller one of the two aux in jacks on the back panel of my Roland Micro Cube when I want to use the Micro Cube just as an active PA speaker for the GP-100 and its many features.
Good idea!
Do you think it's a good option for live shows?
I think it could be its built nice and sturdy, the only issue may be its lack of I/O. You only have a left and right jack output.
Great review thanks. Any idea why the drums dont record while running tbru the computer daw? Guitar records but I'll have the drums on too and during play back they are gone.
You'd be surprised the tones you can get from an old Digitech Rp from 10-15 years ago, lol. These are better though, in most every way.
I never really had an issue with much of the old modelling stuff the only clear nastyness would come when you tried to do good high gain tones. I'm still haunted by the "Recti-Stack" fizz from my old Boss GT6 lol
I have the black version and the IR loads just fine... Which version of the software do you have ??
Btw, Love your tone
Thank you mate. I updated to all the latest Firmware and Desktop software for this review. Strangely im currently making a video with the new GP200LT and everything works fine with my IR's
Great video mate! Always a chill vibe from you. Quick question....the Valeton stuff... especially the GP200.....they wouldn't be as good as. Headrush MX5 will they??? Because I have an option here in Bangladesh to buy a Valeton GP200 or Ampero or Headrush MX5 and it looks like the MX5 is coming out on top. But would love your input here mate. Loved your reviews and you inspired me to get a Schecter SLS Elite this year with the Fishmans. No regrets! So thanks for that help too 😅😅😅
Hey mate, first of all thank you for watching and for your very kind comments on the channel! I have not tried the GP200, despite being impressed with the modelling on this GP100 my recommendation would still be the Headrush MX5 as the best all rounder. Something about the Headrush amp modelling I just find extremely natural and pleasing sounding..
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial very welcome good sir!! Is an absolute pleasure to watch your videos. Keep it up mate. And thank you for the advice. Headrush it is !!🙏🙏🙏

How do I plug into a mono amp?
Hi congrats for your video. For the same price do you suggest Ik multimedia axe solo i/o + Amplitube 5 ? I use it only for studio with headphone and some recording. I had a bad experience with Ik multimedia Irig HD (cheap device), always not working so I switched to Modeler pedals for not having issues any more with drivers, latency, ecc. Maybe ik multimedia axe i/o is another world (no functional issues). I also tried valeton gp100, but it produces cracks noises when used as usb audio interface with my laptop sending a backing track to it. I read other users had these issues with headphone so I returned it and came back to gp200lt . Maybe it's a problem of overload signal due to less headroom in the gp100. So What do you suggest for my use? Valeton gp200Lt or Amplitube 5? Thanks. Alessandro.
Your useage requirements actually sound quite complex! Have you considered a rack mounted solution like a Kemper or Helix? I am making a review of the hew Headrush Prime now and it works fantastically well with backing tracks!
My 20 ir slot when used mutes the patch. Only spot 20,I seen another guy say the same
The IR functionality seems buggy as a whole, I have the new GP200LT arriving this week so will be sure to thoroughly test it on that too.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial I hope I don't have issues with other it spots. Gl bro
Valeton gp100 or Nux Mg300 ?
zoom g1x4 and vaelton gp 100 which is good please reply im going to get one soon
@@actionbeam001 I have no experience with the Zoom product sorry. I was extremely impressed with the Hotone Ampero MINI I reviewed on the channel recently.
I hope you review the big brother gp200
I have the new GP200LT landing with me tomorrow!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial sweet!
Any chance you will be reviewing Mooer GE300? Would also love to hear your thoughts on its comparison against the Boss GX100. Thanks!
Definitely will mate as I've not reviewed any Mooer products yet, I've got the new Valeton GP200LT arriving with me this week.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial what’s the major differences between the new one and this one
Did you do the firmware update? I think they might have resolved the issue loading IRs
Should have mentioned in the review but yes I did update it to latest firmware.
Do you have to have it connected to a PC in order to change the presets? If so that fact would put me off considering it!
No you don't need to connect it to a PC to change presets and parameters, the PC app is more for ease of editing patches so you have the editor on a big screen rather than the small onboard display, and also for importing custom presets and IR's etc, but you can totally use it without a PC altogether if you wish.
@Addixxtions reply is spot on!
valeton gp100 vt for acoustics and semi-acoustics🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Does anyone know if it can be connected from the outputs to a hi-fi amp like the Line 6 Amplifi TT?
I am just realising how much I hate modern metal
Can you load your own IR`s? For example the Bogren digital, thanks.
You can but I had issues getting any of mine to work..
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Thank you, I hesitated for a moment, I think Mooer radar or Tc Elecronics IR loader will be a better option.
You can get it's big brother the gp200 for less than $300
I'm currently reviewing the new GP200LT and so far Im struggling to see why you'd pay more than double the price of this for it...
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial amp models sound the same?
hi, is the IR issue now fixed? thanks.
I could never get it fixed with my setup but bizarrely people with very similar setups had no issue. I am currently making a review with the GP200LT and have no issues with IR's on that unit.
Is there a gap in switching presets?
Yes but not too bad.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial thanks for the info🤗
Thinking about something like this or the NUK pedal to do direct recordings at a friend's house, can fit in a gig bag and simple set up
This or the NUX MG-300?
Not experienced a NUX product yet but soon!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Ah ok 😊 you could.. thanks for the reply.
can i ask? does the parameter knob can be a master volume knob? Like if im switching preset can i adjust the output volume of the preset?
The knob on the right side under the screen adjusts the volume of that patch you have on the screen.
thumbs down for the old school Zoom hate.
I'm traumatized by years of my teenage bands lead guitarist blasting a Zoom MULTI FX through two (Yes two!) Marshall 4x12's and basically destroying my ability to hear anything above 8Khz 🤣
