      Spitfires aren't even the best climbing props. There are much better at lower battle ratings. You got the j2m2 at 4.3 br which climbs to 6000 in 4:00s. The ki 44 ii otsu at 2.3 br is roughly equal in climb to the Spitfire f mk 18 at 5.7 br, both reaching 6000 in 4:20s, same with ki 43 III at 4.0 br. Those planes (spit f mk 18 proclaimed "spacefire") do around 26 m/s at their best. You can see this plane doing 37 m/s, which is jet level high.

      @ktremblay6479 Před 4 lety +6

      @Dovoline3 Před 4 lety +2

      @@ktremblay6479 I tested against the 2005 when it came out, before people started finding weird MEC-only exploits with it. Ignoring what those exploits make possible currently, It's definitely better than a Mk 9, but that's about where it stops. Every other Spitfire simply kicks the 2005's teeth in. With at least a 400 horsepower advantage under poor conditions, good acceleration characteristics, and a higher G-tolerance, no Spitfire pilot of any worth has any business losing a fight to an R.2005.

    This trick appears to have been nerfed. The RPM can no longer go above 2800 in my testing. Which is also unrealistic, the ATA gauge in the cockpit has a mark at 1.6 and a redline at 1.7. I can’t get it above 1.42 now.

    • @julianmorrisco
      @julianmorrisco Před 3 lety +1

      Does this mean the plane has been nerfed even outside of this exploit? I don’t know, I stopped flying mine when the repair cost became astronomical. If true, this is rather annoying - the plane was legitimately pushed up two BR ranks because of its performance. But with this engine ‘nerf’, it hasn’t dropped back. Shame, as even at the higher BRs this was one of my favourite planes. I just couldn’t afford to fly it, not being the best dogfighter. Which goes to show the problem with ranking purely based on stats, they become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Good players are the only ones who can play expensive (repair wise) planes. So the stats go up and up. I agree the exploit should have been stopped but in Gaijin’s usual manner it seems they did it by breaking something good about the vehicle. Gaijin are like the gypsy’s curse, be careful what you wish for.

    • @AdamTheEnginerd
      @AdamTheEnginerd  Před 4 lety

      Did you know about it before I made the video?
      Yup increases power and prop efficiency stays in the high 80s%, so massive thrust gives massive speed increase. It goes from a slow plane to a fast plane.

      (I kinda tried this in bf 109s some time ago too see if i can squeeze some more power by climbing on the edge of overreving the engine, it didn't work at all though, auto prop pitch seems as efficient as possible at not very low speeds for them)
