Saxdor 400GTO - A NEW Market leader..?

I think this is more than just an Adventure Boat now and we need to think of a new category name for it. The Saxdor 400GTO has all the hull characteristics of a fast and efficient twin stepped hull. But this new design with the roof, drop down sides and an interior layout that will transform to suit so multiple requirements is truly ahead of it's time in my opinion.
Once again Sakari (Head Designer) has created a boat that both looks cool, performs great but is also priced very competitive and performs more like your own 'Private Island' instead of just a boat to take you places.
I was imagining myself spending a whole summer living onboard this boat in Sydney which is not a dream I have ever had for an Adventure Boat. That's the difference to this design - it is going to welcome a lot more people into this category because they will look at the 400GTO and realise how well they can fit it into their own Boat Life.
Is it perfect - No. I'm yet to find a perfect boat and I found a bunch of small improvements that I think Saxdor would benefit from implementing. Are they things that would stop me from taking a bet on this boat - No.
I think this will win Boat of the Year for it's category in 2025 because when you consider price, performance and layout it's going to be hard to beat.
I've filmed extra content on my Patreon to specifically help you guys who are trying to evaluate this boat vs the competition - / dansboatlife
Remember I don't sell boats, I don't sell advertising and I don't charge for my videos. I do this so YOU the buyer can trust my content. PRICE
From Euro 233,000
(Watch my test drive video and Patreon content to see why the drive away price will be more. EG: I recommend upgrading to the V10 350Hp Merc's - don't take the standard 300 V8's for this boat - V8's are wrong for this boat)

This channel has the absolute best locations. I watch so many of the videos and struggle to pay attention to the boats, because the scenery is so amazing.
Great review, thanks.
Always love your enthusiasm for Boats and boating 👍
Thanks! 24hrs of flying, no sleep and incredible heat this day but I was still loving it! Hard not to enjoy boating to be fair.
was set on purchasing this boat. However, for any American friends looking to purchase. A reality check I received on the price. With import fees and shipping etc.. This boat is $589,000.00 in the US from an authorized reseller. (MarineMax) Not even optioned out. So, not anywhere near affordable as their stated price from the manufacturer.
Even if you worked with an international dealer and then had it shipped?
Didn’t even know that might be an option. I will have to dig into that. Thanks for the idea
It’s why u register with country where u don’t pay much attention to
What do you do for work that you can afford such an amazing boat?
Makes no sense. That price must include finance.
Love a Saxdor, that's a beast.
best video on this boat, well done as always!
U got the Life, Dan.
Take enough time, to live it.
U work hard.
But dont work too hard.
Looks a treat. Having to have the lid of the bar up blocking the view in and out is an odd choice but if you're going to put the cooktop there I guess it makes sense sporta. Thanks for the tour.
Hmm good point... I wonder if we can design some simple solutions to that?
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife if folded up as it does now and then lowered in to counter level. Similar way the doors on the washers and dryers often are on the big boats, the door opens and slides in. But an engineer will be along to tell us why that's completely wrong.
Welcome to Sunny Singers Dan, the heat makes the beers taste better during happy hour!
Really, really wish I could afford this .... nice boat!
Incredible Boat 🤩
Great video, thank you. I have the 400 GTC on order for September delivery and it will be interesting to see whether they’ve made any improvements based on all the quality feedback people like you were giving. The steps being on the starboard, just one little example and the squeaky board, in the heads being the other. Another thing I noticed was that the door with the power cables should really have a cut out so it can be left shut but the cables still there fitting a cut out of the bottom.
Congrats it's a beautiful boat. Do you mind telling me how much you paid? Is $400k in the right ballpark?
@@pulsefiend it says it starts from 230k euros, why would he pay double that?
Swiss Army knife of boats great bit of kit great review mate 🇬🇧🫡
Good analogy Mark!
This is my current dream boat. Currently out of reach but not so crazy a cost that it's not worth striving for
Beautiful boat but at 40' I would have to add a SeaKeeper or gyro to it
Yep a gyro makes sense for many places. I was in a very exposed area due to all the ships doing 12 - 16kts right past the bay i was in so you saw it at it's worst.
I thought the same thing. I wondered where would the gyro be placed in either the 400gtc or 320gtc? Is it possible?
Never driven an open bow boat with seating or walk around center consol, but I would be a little concerned about scooping up a bunch of water in a big swell. Maybe I've watched too many Boat Zone videos at Haulover inlet, FL?
So a lot of those Haulover videos with guys punching it into standing waves with an outgoing tide is exactly what you should not do on open boats. But in normal offshore conditions provided you drive properly and control your speed and approach angles it's going to be dry 90% of the time. But yes if you manage to dig the bow under and fill it with water i suspect a great majority of that water will be going over the drains and finding it's way to the transom. Those drains are built for rain and a moderate amount of water.
Look’s funny, Rubic’s cube vessel!
Would you say the beds are enough for 6’2 6’3 ? Thank you for the beautiful review
So I’m 5’7 and I put my feet to the end to give perspective. But I’d say for you yes the forward v-berth ok and aft can length ok but getting in and out will be more difficult
I still like the Quarken 35 much more. I just can’t get past the looks of the Saxdor. but great review as usual. Just wish is was easier to get these boats to the USA.
Marine Max are the US dealers right…?
Oh perfect. Nip up the road & fetch them 'caps' 😅 .. 🇬🇧
Project Hats - coming soon!
Whilst it's a nice looking boat, and even considering it's GTC version, i still don't really see why you'd want a boat like this over something with better indoors space.
As a Norwegian the GTO isn't an option, and the GTC isn't that great.
For a commuting boat, I'd rather take a smaller Saxdor, perhaps a 270 or smaller.
For a boat for daily use, I think I'd go with a Marex 375 if considering the same size as this 400.
Saxdor's aren't exactly the boat I'd choose if I wanted to spend some time on the water.
Yeah I can understand with the short seasons you get up there why you would want something that's more of a liveaboard - if the intention is to spend time aboard. I would also want to be able to lock up and stay warm. I think to be fair the focus of the 400GTO and GTC is for slightly warmer climates and to allow a big of protection from the wind and cool (but not freezing) temps. I'd love to get up to Norway and explore it as I see all the cool boat's coming out of that region so looks like some great stuff is happenning.
It's like they took the Axopar and maked everything difficult to operate! 😅
I guess time will tell as I always test these boats when they are new. I was an Axopar dealer and have 1,000's of hr's on them and from what I observe of Saxdor they are focusing on a different direction. They aren't perfect - but i haven't seen a boat that is yet lol
Love the saxdor cabin models, but a bit much on the budget for the 400.
Good job Aussie lad
Really like this boat, lots of great features, needs more power is there a reason why 500s wouldn't work? 450s maybe?
450s maybe if they do a special edition. Otherwise the 400s are going to be well quick enough for 90% of users. These hulls are pretty light and slippery so 500s would be overkill I think
Reminds of the fjord xp
Dont know which i like most
Yes you can draw some similarities betweent he two. I'd say the new Fjord 39XP is the closest comparison
I missed the part where he showed the rod holders and livewell...
No seakeeper?
What’s the price of it?
Awsome boat but have to disagree with your defintion of proper head😅
Can you put a SeaKeeper inn?
The factory is testing this now
I really like the colour of boat an floor, but I would prefer the 320. I'm not realy into the look of the big one.
Fiart 35 seawalker
I’ve not tested a Fiart yet. Would be interested to learn about them
Too cramped in the quarters for my liking
How many ways can this man pronounce the word “here”?
Unlimited... I teach languages in my other job. :)
The idea behind saxdor is really great, but that's about where it remains, an idea. Had a 320 GTO, very fun boat, but the build quality of everything is just terrible. Their warranty service is also terrible, just adding up to having a fun boat, but a pain to maintain. The result is that after 3 years you end up having a boat worth nearly half the initial price. And just remember, the more features, the more things that could break....
Hopefully the future holds something better
I’d love to know more about this so I can share with my PATREONS? I find all boats get warranty issues so hoping I can use Patreon to help educate buyers and factories on real life experiences with the aim of making it better..
🙏 👍 🇨🇷
Selamat pagi ayam lari. apa untuk makan malam
All the boat's sizing comparisons are difficult with him being so tiny, and he keeps referring to normal size things he's not normal sized by any STRETCH makes the reviews difficult cause I am in the market for this exact style of boat...🤷♂️🤦♂️ nonetheless, the in-depth reviews do help. I just wish he carried a tape measure of some sort.
You really should find a larger boat for your over sized ego😫
@@davidblair6276absolutely! What an arrogant Bast_rd comment!!
LOL - i'll have some protein powder just for you. I feel like Capt Steve is best at the tape measure thing and while i'm flying internationally every week to make these vids I just need to minimise everything I carry with me.
He is the tape measure. 5'7". 5’8” with the wind in his hair.
I wasn't trying to be a dick I truly wasn't.....but yes capt Steve does use a tape, and it works well. Don't get that little big man syndrome, please. I really am in the market, and I was genuine about the size factors cameras are always deceiving. Not to be a jerk, but you know you are small, and so it does make it hard to judge the boats, hence camera angle issues with anything. Capt. Steve doesn't own the tape measure patent bud...is all. Regardless, I do enjoy the in-depth reviews. It's the same as I do when I'm on boats. Just can't tell the sizes of things that's all....little man....lol...jk
HE IS NORMAL SIZE. SO RUDE.
Haha I think big 😂
My dealer keeps saying that if you don’t select the “aft cabin” in the rear of the boat you lose the sofa/bed in front of the engine.
After watching this video I believe that you CAN have the sofa/bed without selecting the “aft cabin option”.
Can someone confirm?
