    Unlike most people, i really like Megalania's design, i think the hump makes it look brute, ancient and makes it more unique instead of being just a big Komodo Dragon and nothing else.

    Something I've noticed that's strange to me is that some people see it as a another Minimi i.e. having too many abilities when not only does it lose one of those abilities when it grows up, it's certainly not going to use all of its abilities at once. For instance a juvi mega is totally gonna wanna say in or around trees and NEVER go into the water. It's too scary, but when it becomes an adult and loses it's climbing, it's gonna get more confident and comfortable on the ground and start doing other things.

    • @colecampbell1906
      @colecampbell1906 Před rokem +10

      That probably falls into what he was saying about having a smooth transition. There would likely be a point in time where it could do everything pretty well before losing the climbing though. When it's smaller, it's still a really good swimmer too, it just wouldn't be as comfortable doing it knowing theres crocs and other big megs lurking.

      They better not give them poor stamina. One of their biggest advantages in life was having ridiculously high stamina from these air sacs they developed lol. They are 100% pursuit hunters who chase prey for miles waiting for it to die from the venom. That's one thing that's annoying about PoT meg, aside from them making venom so stupid lol.
      I think they were most likely just showing that it could catch the teno, I kinda doubt it's going to grapple them down like that, might just be for the drawing. I think it's a smaller teno anyway, doesn't look full grown in comparison since it should be way taller.

    I can see Cerato and Megas forming a mutualistic relationship if they both prey on the toxic long neck. Mega deals the bleed while the Cerato harasses the animal until succumbing to blood loss, thus this would emphasis that these two creature must work together in order to have a better chance of survival rather than exclusively competing similar to coyotes and badgers.

    Meg's gunna be so awesome, only downside is everyone's gunna be meg when it releases lol. I just thought of this, but eventually they said they plan to have you be affected by hunger by being super skinny when starving and chunkier when full. One cool idea they could do is have the climbing be weight related, then maybe if you start starving you become skinny enough to haul up a tree again in search of a snack. Then when you fill up you're too heavy again.

    good to see they are working on bigger dinos so the game isn't full of small tiers like beipi and troodon. And we definently do need them there is only one medium sized theropod (carno) and it's really the only thing to play as or fight atm (in carnivore roster).

    • @smugreptile6695
      @smugreptile6695 Před rokem +1

      To be fair, they are trying to make a player driven ecosystem. Animals don't exist just to fight each other. And pretty much every environment starts with the far more numerous small animals. So starting the rework by trying to make the smaller animals the ecosystem NEEDS fun to play is a logical move. It also forces the player base to learn the foundations of all the new mechanics before they waste 12 hours growing a Trex.
      Unfortunately people just want to play big carnivores all the time as they are the more popular animals in every demographic.
      Followed by the people who play big herbivores to stick it to the carnivore players.
      Personally I find the small to medium size animals the most fun to play. And while I do like Spino and Rex, odds are I won't ever be playing anything larger than Cerato or Bary. And if the game currently wasn't so stacked in the herbivores favor right now, I might enjoy Minmi or Kentro when they come out.

    They could smooth out the border when Megalania can't climb anymore by requiring more and more stamina to climb a single tree with every percentage the hatchling and juvi are closer to adulthood. At some point, it can't reach treetops and branches anymore, making climbing not viable anymore and shortly after that phase, losing it altogether. This would make sense, because the bigger it gets, the more weight it gains.

  • @General_Cake
    @General_Cake Před rokem +1

    what if instead of having a weak bite force it can't really get a grip of its prey and pin so instead it makes use of its venom and excellent sense of smell to track where its prey might have gone or bled out

  • @gendygoblin8391
    @gendygoblin8391 Před rokem +1

    The changing mechanics as it grows keeps the play style interesting and is the standard I think should exist for all Dinos. Like how Juvi-Rexes are fast small game hunters and Sub adults become novice pack hunters with species like Alberto being a more proficient version of that.
    And if they have the balls to add feathers to Dromeosaurs, especially Velociraptor or Troodon, their juvi stages could be gliding little tree climbers. Or just give them gliding and climbing rather than having one Triassic theropod be the only climber which makes zero sense to me.

  • @mechanicobra
    @mechanicobra Před rokem +2

    I'm personally in love with the idea of how this concept art seems to present Megalania! A mid tier venomous all terrain menace. Especially if the implication that younger Meg's will be better at climbing and able to enter burrows.
    Also I don't think the Tenonto escaped. The Meg clamped onto its back and the image of it running had no blood there, unlike the bitter Magy had a bloody wound where it was bitten. So I'm thinking that's just to show its able to catch things like Tenonto if it ambushes them. Plus with it following the Magy blood trail with its tongue out means it'll have an increased ability to track blood.
    I really hope this guy turns out as versatile as shown here.
    Also on the topic of burrows, with a lot of the bigger dinos that are able to dig open burrows the burrowers themselves should be able to escape them above ground as well. Plus small creatures like Dryo and stuff grow really quickly so them being so close to untouchable as they are kind of needs to be touched up.

    Now thinking about it, Megalania should have a different attack. If it only has a venomous bite attack that doesn’t do a lot of damage, there’s nothing stopping it’s target from beating it to a pulp before the venom does any real damage. A tail slap that knocks back creatures would not only be good for Megalania defensively, but it also makes sense since real life Komodo Dragons do the same thing.
