Literally a series that was ahead of it's time. What an era. The nostalgia is real man. Been re-watching the entire series these past months, and what a time. Don't think any show can come close too it these days. Sad that the era, is long past. Iconic storyline, themes, instrumentals, characters and so much more. Legendary. What makes me appreciate the show even more is that they used some of Collin's music, truly iconic. What a scene.
I was born and raised in Miami and I remember Miami Vice when I was a kid today I'm 48 years old TV shows and at the same movies are not the same the good old days will never come back the music the fashion the boats I used to live across the street where the end of this video was filmed I walk that bridge everyday to take my dog out Miami has changed very expensive city today we only live once enjoy life my friend

Those are Merc 2.4 Off Shore outboards and each is loud, four resonating against each other can be deafening! I had 1, (one), (uno solo), on my 21 foot Eliminator and it went 102! ;

In real life that boat would never have been caught. It probably had 4 x 250hp outboards. That’s 1000hp. That police boat would have had half that or even less.
Actually he would have bc, in reality, he drove down indian creek and into a dead end. No way out of there. Canal ends in a couple blocks.
4 x 245 = 1000 hp to push 12,000 lb boat... that rig would maybe run 80 mph in a mile long straight .....tight canal with twisty turns no way he breaks 50 ....i could keep up in a flats boat ....lol or jetski...lol
Fun to see a Chalk's amphibious plane in this segment, as they're now gone, after the crash when the wing fell off on one side. They were old and rusted out, by the salt water they were in, plus they cannibalized older planes to repair the better ones.

Love how they used Mercury outboards but had a sound added to sound like twin V8s.
Definitely would have preferred they use the real sound of those 4 - 2 stroke mercs screaming not that fake sht they used cuz they thought it sounded cooler on tv.

It's hard to imagine that a talented musician and composer like Jan Hammer who wrote, composed, and performed the theme of "Miami Vice" as a criminal on this episode. Well I guess this the way explore and expand his other talents.

I had inland friends who swore I was bullshtting when I told them about long, open, utility-type centerconsole boats in battleship grey with four and five 250hp outboards that I used to see a few times a year sneaking around VaBeach after dark (when I was out doing the same, but with a single 505).
Must have been at least 20 engines on thst boat, I stopped counting after that

To help get potential cast members more into character, they were taken on stakeouts by the real Miami Vice unit. While auditioning for the role of Sonny Crockett, Don Johnson came into a script reading for the producers directly from an all night stakeout. He was tired, his hair was a mess, and he hadn't shaved that morning. That look showed the producers what a real life vice cop would look like following a long night of work, and he was hired immediately.
He also was in Miami because he just finished making a movie called Cease Fire. He was in the right place at the right time.

Chase with the Dayton??? 0~o Dayton is a city in Ohio.. >~< now the 1972 Ferrari "Daytona" Spyder Crocket and Tubbs are driving is a whole different ketal of fish... ^~^
The Daytona was not the real thing, but a replica built on a Corvette C3 chassis. Enzo Ferrari was annoyed by the fact they used a fake Ferrari in the show and loaned them a Ferrari Testarossa on the proviso that they destroy the Daytona.

I'm paused at 3:17, and am reminded of a similar scene in the old *HAWAII FIVE-O* series about a dozen years prior, in the end episode for Season 7(1974-75).
Love the show, just why with four outboards the sound of the run boat with 4 outboards are the sound of inboards?

(6 engines × 8 cylinders per engine) = 48 cylinders.
I wonder sometimes if the boats would be better off with 3 16 cylinder engines. Borrow the blocks from some small 16 cylinder locomotive or small ship engine, and build up some usable stern drive engines.
