There is a contention in Indian culture where a father's approval is the biggest complement for any son (son particularly) and they always set their works against that standard of validation. The fathers in India, are culturally grown up, to push their sons hard and be borderline abusive to the point they never approve their son no matter how good work they do. Even though most of them are appreciative of their sons, they never say it to the face of their sons. They love being villains of their sons' lives.
This has a strong foundation from Mahabharata, where a blind father who is fond of his 100 sons, turned blind eye to his sons' atrocities and lead to the destruction of the entire family/clan.

Dr BR Ambedkar said a bad book can be used for the betterment of people if the people handling/reading/implementing it are good people. But a good book can be twisted to harm people in the hands of scoundrels.
Don't blame the behaviour of toxic men on our holy texts. And what you said about father's approval for his son is universal.

This film sort of challenges the norm of 'Protagonist' and 'Antagonist'. Vijay here is neither, he is just a problematic human being with a love for his father that was never reciprocated, and fierce loyalty towards his family. His 'alpha-ness' causes him to act this way, where his intentions might be good but the execution is unconventional, to put it kindly.

The song was like an emotional reckoning, the zenith, the point where the bottled up resentment and aggrieved feelings that both the protagonist and antagonist had for each other were finally being addressed in a fittingly brutal manner. It was also mainly about conveying the emotional intensity of literally "burning down the world" in order to avenge someone attempting to take your loved one away from you.

Slapping women, abusing women, and ruling over women are not Indian culture, it is just in the movie. Everywhere in the world, there are abusive people who mistreat women; it is a universal truth.
Women have the right to marry anyone, but in this movie, Ranveer's character shows more masculinity by choosing who will marry his sister because he thinks he can find a better person for her.
In the real world, not every person is good. It's not Barbie Land; the real world is like a real forest with evil people. That's why we must be aware, there are real bad people living, just because you don't witness them doesn't mean they don't exist.
Songs have deep meaning, and real Indian people understand their meaning. Every song in this movie has a purpose. Like in the last airport fight scene, the song is about family. The two brothers, Abhay and Ranveer, are enemies but they are fighting for family revenge. But the reality is they are brothers from the same family. That's why the emotional song plays during the fight. Also, in the axe fight scene, the 'Arjun Velly' song is an old Indian folk song used in Punjabi war times to encourage soldiers, and there's a real meaning behind that song.
Not all Indian fathers are like that, you are just generalizing. All Indian fathers and parents spend time with their children, but they also need to work, that's why they have short time. But whenever they get time, they stay with them. Fun fact: Indian fathers are much closer to their daughters, and Indian mothers are close to their sons. If you live in India, you know that, but you are living in the US, that's why you can't understand.
Religion is not the main point. Everything is wrong with every person in this movie, but in Ranveer's character's mind, whatever he does is right. Bobby Deol's grandfather changes his religion because he wants to leave everything related to his family behind. This is his motto, it's simple.
The gun dealer speaks Marathi; there are different languages used in this movie.
Vijay loves his father because his father is a superhero to him, and he wants his father's praise or recognition.
Ranveer's character is not good; you should not learn anything from his character. Everyone in this movie is a wrong person, and everyone has serious problems, but it's just a movie. This is not Indian reality.
To fully enjoy and understand this movie, you must be Indian or live in India. Just because you have Indian blood doesn't mean you become Indian; you cannot understand Indian culture. Foreigners living in India are much more knowledgeable than those who do not live in India.

This movie is a masterpiece and my all time favorite bollywood film. Finally in bollywood, where people are so uptight about morality and decency we have a film that is gleefully amoral and a protagonist that is so tremendously flawed. I loved this movie's constant and absolute commitment to "going there". There was an air of fearlessness and unhinged-ness throughout the film that is so rare to see, and I absolutely loved how the film absolutely committed to being as uncompromising, brutal and emotionally uncomfortable as possible. There are no traditional good guys in this film, it deals with dark and heavy themes and is confrontational at all times, things I absolutely adore about it. I'm sick of watching comedies and films that are safe with their characterizations. This film took massive risks, laid everything on the line and gave a 100% into telling it's constantly surprising, shocking and ultimately unforgettable story. 10/10 film and the fact that this film gets as much hate and vitriol as it does from everyone else, makes me love it and see the brilliance of it even more. Can't wait for the sequel!

all time fav movie ?? seriously ??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 they did not take any rsik , you take risk when you know that majority of people might not watch if they go against there values , it did not , because it knew which audience is this catering to and majority will like it , ITS A STUPID MOVIE WITH GOOD ACTING PERFORMANCES , but its story is dumb , and you probably love the movie because of the reaction it got from feminists and not because of its content or story ,

    • @ghosthaunter6820
      @ghosthaunter6820 Před měsícem +1

@@Neelinmact Nah mate, I genuinely thought the film was perfectly made from start to finish. The protagonist, played wonderfully by Ranbir, was always so unpredictable in his behavior that it always put me on the edge of my seat wondering what he was going to say or do next. There were no good people in this film (for the most part) and it committed 100% to being aggressive and volatile throughout. The emotions were dialled up to 11 and there were no unnecessary cringe comedy moments. The movie was long but did not seem to drag one bit and the way it waited so long to introduce Bobby Deol's character, made him even more terrifying. It was like a sinister undercurrent was present throughout the film and with Abrar's violent introduction towards the end that built up tension was given a tangible and horrifying face. I love this film's attitude of just not giving a f*ck and commitment to making audiences be uncomfortable and squirm at all times. No film in Bollywood has gone this far with its intensity of emotion and rage and constant darkness and unpredictability. I can't wait to see more of this fascinating character and fascinating world and the fact that the director didn't care about necessarily making his protagonist all that likable but still impossible to look away from makes such an interesting dichotomy that seared Ranvijay permanently into my mind. An absolute genius creation and execution of a film that achieves flying colors in everything that it sets out to execute.

@@Neelinmact The climax fight scene was terrific don't know what you're talking about about. Considering the fact that both Abrar and Ranvijay are toxic males who like to assert their dominance it made absolute sense to have them go shirtless and fight each other to establish who was the real alpha. The fact that they were brothers didn't make it "hilarious" it made the fight more visceral and personal and was a great way to wrap up this emotional and volatile saga. There was no "overreacting" in this film I have seen many times that when people lose their cool or are very confrontational they tend to get very heated and animated when they speak. The aggression shown by the characters just added to the adrenaline induced from watching the film leaving a constant pit in the stomach that when accompanied with the amazing BGM left me transfixed to what was happening on screen. Gangs of Wasseypur while great was massively overrated. Manoj Bajpayee and to a lesser extent Nawazuddin were great in it sure, but the films overall were not able to generate nearly enough edge of your seat tension and there were long periods where nothing very interesting was happening. I love that this film was made to intentionally piss off a certain section of critics and audience (specifically the touchy-feely woke crowd). Indian film critics are a joke and I am glad that this film put them in their place.

The liberals of India lost their minds because of extreme misogyny while the giga chads loved it because people called it misogynistic; while in reality this is a pretty average movie nothing special. Too long for my liking. There have been so many good movies this year in India that are not Bollywood like manjummel boys, brahmayugam, aavesham. Even from hindi cinema there is Merry Christmas (neo-noir black comedy), last year there was 12th fail which came at the same time around this shit

Three brothers represent India's partition. Muslims chose and created an Islamic country with Sharia law from India, so Pakistan formed, while Hindus chose secular India, and Sikhs also came from Pakistan to join secular India. But all these three brothers came from the same mother, ancient Indian civilization; that way, they are represented as the same family. However, Sikhs and Hindus joined forces after independence against war started by Islamic Pakistan and Islamic terrorist attacks in the last 77 years. Probably, this movie is trying to say that in this movie, they have all religious stereotypes, not just Islam. Muslims have the most polygamous marriages in the Indian subcontinent, so it represents correctly. Religious conversion means probably when Islamic invaders came to India, most elites from the north got converted to get special privileges and escape from the non-Muslim tax system (jizyah).

Typical Misogynist Indian movie. Honestly at this point Pakistani and Bangladeshi films are better quality when it comes to womens right and respect than Indians movies that promote this hatred against feminism.
