Whoa whoa whoa! The Knight of the Laughing Tree was never confirmed to be Lyanna Stark! Several things pointed to her, but nothing was ever confirmed. Not even the identity of the young Crannogman who was bullied by the squires. In the world of Martin, it is never wise to assume anything.
Couldn’t be more excited… my favorite spin-off concept. Dunk & Egg is beautifully written. I love the audio-book of The Hedge Knight.

This is definitely one of my favorite stories in the universe, I'm so excited to see it on screen but the way they ended the main story gives me concern for the effect it will have on the rest of the stories.
We can only hope they stay true to the source material. I absolutely loved the original series, even with what they changed, but the ending...parts of it were just bad, very rushed.

the blood of the dragon ran hot in every generation. Things were actually pretty cool between them after the Dance and Aegon IV becoming king , but Aegon IV legitimizing his bastards opened the can of worms all over again. Maekar's older sons being arrogant pricks didn't help matters either.

I interpret The Sworn Sword to represent Ser Duncan swearing his sword to Ser Eustace and The Mystery Knight to represent Daemon II entering the tourney as John the Fiddler
That's the way I interpreted them too. The subtitles didn't all refer to Duncan... in fact, even the first "The Hedge Knight" could be interpreted to refer to the hedge knight that Duncan squired for (there was always a lot of ambiguity about whether or not Duncan had ever been formally knighted).
I think too. Duncan never swore his sword to Aegon technically, until he becomes kingsgaurd for Aegon when he becomes king.
And Mystery knight is for sure John the fiddler.
Alan Ritchson as Sir Duncan the tall. He played Jack Reacher in the Amazon Prime show. Absolutely massive dude and he is a great actor.
While I think he'd be great if you have seen Blue Mountain State it would be hard to get past that🤣

They should save the story of Aegon and his sister wives for the Big Screen. Full action movie that starts off showing the fall/doom of Velaria. Fire and blood in a massive apocalyptic scene and then Daenerys wakes up screaming in terror. Of course it would be too long for one movie so they do a part 1 and 2. Man that would be EPIC!!! Lord of the Rings and Dune EPIC!!!! It all starts with Aegon. He deserves a big screen debut.

Olivier Richters would be the perfect Ser Duncan the Tall. He's 34, but can pull off an early 20s Dunk, and would look fantastic in later seasons, when Dunk is older and a seasoned warrior. (The unfinished story goes until Dunk is in his 60s.)

Aemon wasn’t really in this series, he’s mentioned, but we don’t see him. It’s the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and young Aegon the fifth.

@@kazetoame Very true! It will probably be only in an epilogue telling of the ascension of Egg to the throne that he would actually be a character. (Unless GRRM manages to drop in another short story in the AKOTSK anthology, as he has often hinted, depicting the later stories of Dunk & Egg)
Very enjoyable novellas and I have long been hoping for the next in the series as they head north for Winterfell and beyond perhaps?
George RR Martin said he would eventually write more for that at some point.

Surprisingly, in the book, Brynden Rivers wasn’t painted entirely in a bad light. I remember thinking he wasn’t as awful as I was thinking he was going to be.
his reputation is mostly fear of the nobles and smallfolk. His killing of Aenys Blackfyre is what made Aegon force him to the Wall.
He reminds me a lot of a Tyrion/Varys mixture. Sacrifices a lot to protect his family and the realm, but never got the credit he deserved and was reviled because of his appearance. He is basically a slightly magical, crafty, one-eyed albino bastard. He became the scapegoat to blame the realm's ills on. But he was intensely loyal to the Targ dynasty, for a lot of reasons.

A lot of it was his ruthlessness in pursuit of his end goals. He definitely played hardball. In that way he's a lot like Daemon in HotD, a very deep gray character with a lot of good points as well as a lot of bad points. Probably very polarizing of the denizens of Westeros, as is Daemon... "one of the most loved, and most hated, people in Westeros".
@@bill.godwin-austen the older I get, and the longer Game of Thrones settles with me, the more I think that every single person in that book is just a shade of grey. The night king is probably the only definitive evil. Everyone else, from Cersei to Danny to Jon could be considered grey, depending on the perspective.

In my opinion, a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the second-best book George wrote. Faevre Dream would come first for me. I hope they do short episodes like 30 minutes or short seasons like 6 to 8 episodes and only a few seasons.

And that is same good news Charlie TX😜👍, with the Dunk & Egg series we will finally see the Blackfire rebellions, and what happens to Brynden Rivers when Egg is crowned King of the 7 kingdoms and sends him to the Night Watch and then he goes beyond the wall and disappears. Is he really Old 3👁️Raven?? I hope so, so we can understand why it's not Bran who's been in control since the fight in the weirwood tree with the White Walkers on the GOT series. I heard that they are looking for same one between 8 and 13 years old to play Egg, and 18 and 25 years old to play Duncan.

This is definitely one of the better side stories that GRRM has written & the series should be great. However, I can’t fathom a logical reason as to why they won’t do a Roberts Rebellion series. Am I the only person that thinks it would be awesome to see a young Robert & Ned on the battlefield? Or have them write the scene where Lyanna & Rhaegar meet. Plus we finally get to see the likes of John Arryn, Rickard & Brandon Stark on screen. More of Arthur Dayne & his sister Lady Ashara. Even better the follow up season could be about Robert establishing peace and putting down the rebellion on the iron islands. It’s honestly too logical not to do. It would answer so many of the questions set up in the early GOT seasons and the later ones when the 3 eyed Raven is introduced.
i think eventually they will and that’s prolly one of the few shows there pitching to hbo right now . Supposedly they’re pitching 8 shows to hbo . so if yeh think . 1. Dunk egg 2. house of dragon 3. jon snow sequel 4.aegons conquest 5.Sea snake show 6. Nymreria 10000 ships
still leaves 2 full shows , eventually there gonna lay it out but i’ll tell yeh why there gonna do you idea last . The charectors cross over in the stories . So it would only make sense to do this show after they do dunk and egg.

Ig part of the reason is that this entire period of time is deliberately left ambiguous to a large extent by GRRM himself and that has resulted in very curious side plots in the main storyline itself. Martin has made much better fleshed out stories in other periods of westerosi history. The studios themselves would want to be safe for as long as possible considering how a misstep in Robert's saga could potentially cripple asoiaf itself and they really dont need any more negative press.
But ofc like any other studios they know very well that fans would love to watch Bob's rebellion on screen and if they get desperate enough we'll defo have a loud live action portrayal of the same.

It exists primarily as a plot device for the main series where we learn more and more about what happened and it influences our views of current events and characters,. As its own story its pretty shallow and we already know what happens through the main series

I think there is enough back story already provided in the literature he has written & at most you need 2-3 seasons. I think it would do wonders to repair the image of the season 8 fiasco. Plus I feel non book readers could connect easier with younger versions of the characters from the original series they already know.. Idk just my opinion, but what you said is probably way more on point & realistic. I’m just a dreamer lol
@@tpgorman15 Mainly because Martin loves fantasy realism... It is a book on dragons but it makes rules for itself and sticks to them. In real life so many things are ambiguous and unknown with a dozen versions of the events running around
In the books, this makes it scarily accurate and very excitingly realistic. We want to know the answers but if they were actually served in an anticlimactic way like a flashback or something then it becomes boring. A RR series would ruin the mystery of it all by offering a canonical version to events and Id hate that.

Do you think they will fix the later family tree? In GOT Maester Aemon made it seem like his brother Egg was the grandfather of Rhaegar instead of his Great-Grandfather.
They did that on purpose to make the distance from Jon and Aemon less prominent. Essentially removing jahaerys
Since George is going to be involved with it, I expect that we will get the full, proper family tree. If nothing else, it would give him another opportunity to stick a thumb in the eye of D&D.
The actor/writer strike was mainly affecting the US market. Most of the shows that are related to GoTs and the others are mostly UK or non American actors and writers which shouldn't cause a halt to any production. I'm no expert so I'm just guessing. Hopefully the cast, crew and writers keep on keepin on and get paid what they're worth.
