      Metalcore is a fucking awesome genre to get into if you wanna master a lot of techniques in the rock and metal side of things(and even a little jazz)
      Perfect for getting into fast soloing with some popular metalcore songs actually having some actually well-thought shredding that isnt what most boomers would call noodling.
      Also perfect for rhythm guitar as well as a lot of melodic stuff. Thats what got me into progressive shit.

    I absolutely love seeing guys learning guitar go straight for metal. that is how I started and I think it's the best thing I did. I didn't start with no C chord and G chord stuff. I learned a whole lot of music theory now but I wish there were more people learning guitar with metal.

      No. That's why all metal sounds the same. Learn the theory so you can break the rules and be creative rather than playing the same chord progressions over and over.

    • @maxeisenach1771
      @maxeisenach1771 Před 4 měsíci +37

      I think it's good to learn a well-rounded assortment of music, it gives you more appreciation and room to experiment and discover, rather than "only learning metal" or "not learning metal at all", those extremes aren't all that great. Being open to learning and playing all sorts of different music makes you appreciate and enjoy it all a lot more.
      The "C chord and G chord stuff" for instance is already the basis for a lot of music people love and enjoy, completely dismissing it is just as bad as only learning that.

      Being a gateway genre has nothing to do with music quality. Of course death metal won't bring people into the genre because they're not used to the harsh vocals. They will need softer stuff to ease them into metal. That does not mean death and black metal are not miles better than any -core though

I’ve played for 7 years but only the first 3 or so was I really progressing and learning & in just the past few months I’ve been playing a few hours a day and have gotten noticeably better! Pick songs that are a bit scary like for me rn it’s the master of puppets solo it looks scary but once you break the licks down slowly you’ll be shocked what you’re capable of. Also, something I heard forever ago that has helped me a lot is practice before u go to bed. I can’t tell u how many times I fumbled through a riff for hours only to wake up and play it perfect first try

    Even from the early stages, your picking technique was insanely clean and crisp. This progression is awesome and all the metalcore makes me want to get back into playing

    You are a badass! I'm an "80's Rock Gods" era guy, I hope you study those guys. George Lynch, Randy Roads, Eddie Van Halen, Veto Bratta, Adrian Vandenburg...... Playing with emotion as much as speed. Rock on! You are proof that the sky is the limit!

    I seriously started learning the guitar last year at 24. Late, I know, I unfortunately couldn't afford it as a child/teenager. I've hit a lot of roadblocks so far, one of which, very recently. But I'm here seeing someone that has a lot in common with me in those beginner days, one of those things being coming straight up guns blazing, no fucks given playing metal like there's no tomorrow. You, sir, reminded me that no matter what, consistency is key and I would like to thank you for that. Someday I'm going to be as good of a player as you are.

      My situation is like yours except I'm 25. Looking for a pretty electric guitar that is left-handed is hard, so I ended up customizing it with the neck and pickups. I've always wrote poems in elementary school, but I feel like playing will help me compose.

    Had to drop the Like and headbang when I saw in dying days, been devoting myself to that song for the past two weeks. I’ve been playing for nearly 2 years and I love to see this as I’m a self taught metalhead as well 🤘

    Incredible, love all the self discipline and dedication to record your progression. Tells me a lot about about your character. Well done, and I’m not just complementing you on your ability but what we know as guitarist. All the research, it’s every single day all day. Without ever settling until you achieve the next level. Truly amazing talent, stay humble and it’s hard when in public because you get bored but that’s life. 😉
