In this completionist walkthrough, we attempt to beat XCOM 2 War of the Chosen on Legend difficulty with Ironman mode turned on. On Legend difficulty, the hardest difficulty setting in XCOM 2, enemies will be deadlier, more numerours and harder to kill, while we unlock new technologies slower and have to pay more to purchase useful items. To make things even harder, we also play with Ironman mode turned on, making all of our decisions permanent. Ironman mode prevents us from reverting back to an earlier save file if things go wrong, so if we mess up, we will have to live with the consequences. Paired together, Legend difficulty and Ironman mode provide by far the toughest challenge in XCOM 2 - but they also offer the most intense gameplay experience.
Since this is a completionist walkthrough of XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, we will also focus on unlocking almost all achievements in the game. The only achievements that will not be covered in this walkthrough are those relating to the (now defunct) multiplayer mode as well as the "The Few and the Proud" and the "Exquisite Timing" achievement. The first would severely limit the number of community creations that this series could feature and the latter would require us to quickly rush through the game, likely resulting in missing a lot of achievements and defeating the purpose of a completionist playthrough.
This XCOM 2 Walkthrough covers the complete XCOM 2 Collection, including all downloadable content and expansions. We will not only play through the XCOM 2 base game, but also the War of the Chosen expansion featuring new factions, missions and enemies, the Alien Hunters DLC featuring powerful new aliens, the Shen's Last Gift DLC featuring a new soldier class, and the Anarchy's Children and Resistance Warrior Pack DLCs with additional soldier customization options. Additionally, War of the Chosen, Alien Hunters and Shen's Last Gift all introduce additional achievements for us to unlock.
All customizable characters in this series are made by the Pete Complete community. Every soldier will be named after and designed by a Patreon supporter. To find out how to get your name into the series as well, check out this video (disregard the deadline): • Join the Pete Complete...
XCOM 2 is a turn-based action strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and the sequel to XCOM Enemy Unknown (and its Enemy Within expansion). It includes new units for XCOM and the aliens, new gameplay mechanics, more character customization options and a deepter tactical layer. However, XCOM 2 does not pick up where Enemy Unknown left off: Instead, the game assumes the player's failure to defeat the alien invaders in the first game and therefore begins twenty years after the events of XCOM Enemy Unknown on an Earth ruled by the aliens. Always on the run, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to rise from the ashes, expose the insidious truth behind the occupation and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.

Well played, as always; not that the game can really throw a meaningful threat at you anymore. Almost time to go wipe the floor with three impotent little Avatars and call it a day. Feels like the end of an era.
I'd love to see Chimera Squad fill the tactical game vacuum that's about to exist; but Capes is mechanically very similar (and also on my wishlist now thanks to you) so that would be great too.
Phoenix Point would be a much better choice, game is unrelenting and hard, much harder then XCOM. If Pete could just mop the floor with the crab army as easly as he did the aliens in Xcom twice i would be stuned! Chimera Squad is ok at best but that is just my opinion ;) a bit more crude graphicly but have you tried Xenonauts Johnny?
@@marcinzootar9305 I haven't played either Phoenix Point or Xenonauts, actually. I'll look into them; thanks for the tip.
And yeah I can acknowledge that XCOM:CS is pretty buggy as well as not altogether difficult (except when it decides to let the enemy roll a crit AND detonate the car next to your agent with a single shot, killing them instantly and wiping the entire playthrough on RNG)
Did the Assassin always sound like she starts her mornings by gargling freshly crushed glass?
Definitely Pete for the MVP this week. A masterful display of shutting down the enemy.
Bravo Pete, bravo 👋👋👋
That chamber fight is insane. I think thats about as close to perfectly done as possible
Just breezed through that Chosen, the best part was breaking her stealth so casually each time
Her stealth made her so scary. She ended two of my ironman campaign runs. It's crazy how Pete causally dispose of her lol
I love how Banish and the Chosen's voice lines synergise for comedy
It's crazy to me that this series was started over two years ago. Feels like yesterday. Pete, you are one consistent man.
00:59 pete just said "utter annihilation" with a normal tone. And i just know he gonna do it.
That execution on that panicked Viper was... cold-blooded!
"Okay. So I got one..."
yeah, he got the scraps while everyone else pigged out.
I just found out your series today
i was hoping you were not clickbaiting
i think i found my new series to benchwatch
Watch his first X-COM series as well once you run out of episodes for that one, it's masterful too. And check out his Rimworld series, of course.
Enjoy all of his content! It has been stellar for years and years.
"equal footing", she says... lol
I always thought it was a little funny that the Assassin is the first chosen introduced, because she is BY FAR the most dangerous of the three in missions. The Hunter almost never actually does anything as long as you move out of the way of his Called Shots, and the Warlock usually just sits in the corner summoning zombies forever.
Assasin, Sarcophagus and Assasin in one turn.
You make it look easy :)
Assassin, Sarcophagus in one turn, and Assassin the next from what I saw.
Exceptional Commander Pete, you've shown the Assassin to never mess with your forces. Now that she's out of the picture you can finally set in motion the final preparations to free the earth from the Elders' grasp.
That was a massacre.
CZcams didn't tell me this got uploaded. Been looking forward to seeing you take out the Assassin, and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent job Commander!
Very well done, the Assassin didn't know who they were up against.
I flonking love watching you Pete. Thanks for completing my days
At long last, the greatest of the chosen has fallen by Pete`s hand!
Glory to Pete Complete!
Central : "It wasn't easy, but we managed to pull it off"
Pete : "Hold my beer"
None of the baddies have a chance to affect the PCs, AND the big bad doesnt even get a chance to act AND both the big bad v1, associated mcguffin and big bad v2 are done away with in TWO TURNS. Thats like flawless victory + additional 50%. Awesome dude, simply awesome.
That's on the level of killing two sectopods in one turn in the previous X-COM!
For once im here when it is posted
7:02 Twitchy and the Shredstorm Cannon. I can only imagine she has an electric guitar made of alien slag she calls her shredstorm cannon
Very well executed. Can't say that I've ever seen the Assassin and the sarcophagus taken out on the same turn. Impressive indeed.
The Assassin getting assassinated. Poetic.
That was insane! Going all out indeed!
Always funny hearing how confident the baddies are like they've been able to do anything other than scuff Pete's J's this entire playthrough lol
What's legendary isn't the dificulty its your own skills. Damn, that was really something
Sweing zcom go all out was crazy
The hunter had committed sudoku 😲
This day, the Elders know fear.
I'm gonna miss those banished trash talks
Hi Pete!
Brutally executed!
Yet another action-packed episode. IMHO the only better outcome would have been Celica insta-killing the Assassin. Anyway, can't wait for the finale!
-congrats on the swift dealings of that boss. that was a very good job
Great fight!
Getting closer to the end now, very exciting!
Looking forward to Schwamenion of the Match poll :D
Flawless Victory!
Oh The Grand Finale. After Avenger Assault. Ending the Final Chosen. It's Over and we can also done the Avatar Autopsy here once the ADVENT Network Tower and let's end this once and for all.
That Was Awesome at this one.
The end is nigh
Pete making it look easy once again.
Pete ran out of standard achievements and invents his own lmao
Maybe after finishing Xcom you could go for xenonauts since its thematically quite similar and a challenge but capes is also a lovely choice i certainly wouldnt complain about.
Okay . Going back ME 1 now. Just for some light watching
Like and good video.👍👍
LETS GO
About the Assassins weapons, I do feel the Sword is sadly not that useful, since, in my experience, you use the melee attack kill something off, and that is, almost, never on a target that still has armor, the shotgun however.
Not only is it really good, but until I had defeated the Assassin I genuienly had no idea she had a shotgun, I saw the gun on her back, yeah but not once have I seen her use it lol
Also, needless to say another masterclass on how to humiliate the Elders Chosen! :)
Funnily enough... Assassin's Katana isn't actually a Katana. Japanese Katanas are curved, single-edged blades, more akin to sabres. Her blade is double-edged and straight. It's a regular sword
I don't know if it is interesting for you but there is a game called tactical breach wizards that has a demo on steam rigth now and I thougt it was cool. It's also a turnbased tactic game.
Finally their constant moaning and blubbering will stop. You've made this mission look easy.
5:48 how do you see them through walls?
I never have played this game but this seemed like an amazing job. Did the Assassin admit you were going to win before she committed suicide? I was a little surprised she finished herself off with her sword but maybe the rest of the choosen did and I didn't notice. Sometimes I'm just listening to CZcams while doing other things but I watched this one from beginning to end
Assasin says "you have fought well xcom, i hope you reclaim this world for your own".
I always kina figured the assassin was from another world that feel victim to the elders, just came from a more might makes right culture,
so xcom winning means that there was a chance the elders were no longer right.
Being forced to revive over and over well watching countless worlds be destroyed or changed has gotta fuck you up.
@@hannahorse16 yeah I agree. Of course she has pumped up the Elders in all the encounters before. Maybe I missed when she didn't. But the quote you provided was just a bit surprising though. Maybe she just had nothing to lose by relieving her thoughts just before death
Is it possible for some late game missions (example: gorilla ops), with some extra members to the six person squad.
I mean doing missions with the double agent and volunteer army perk.
Will this be another flawless elder take down?
I have never played Xcom 2 before, what is left in the campaign to do?
Celica for MVP.
Anyone know if and which soldier has been in every chosen chamber?
I always love how the bad guys try and justify things by saying that what they've done is so small in the grand scheme of things. Because it leaves the question as to why you're giving something so small so much attention. It's one of those villain cliches that always makes me scoff a little. Much like the 'We're not so different you and I...' as often said by a maniac to someone much more solid morally.
I think your top team is a little bit overpowered, maybe?
Banish on the chosen is hilarious. They just spout arrogant lines about their superiority as they get riddled with shot after shot.

if you want to gain more money from games, you need to play nowadays games or playing game that are easy to play (Xcom 2 war of the chosen is annoyingly difficult) at least explain how to play it. People will call you ask help in the game for money and you will do a zoom and help them to play.
If you just play hard games Play them but help people that stuck in this game.
I think you misunderstood purpose of channel. Petes content is good and he does exactly what we the viewers want to see.
