Phil Jupitus is the only man on QI who looks like a completely different person every time I see him on...
Im only now realizing that was Phil making the shiny child jokes. 😂
1: charismatic door to door salesman
2: famour author
3: talk show host
4: club owner
5: university professor
6: woodcutter
7: university student
8: fun uncle
9: motorcyclist on his way to a christmas dinner
@@wiegervonstraufenwitz8417 haha, perfect 😂🤣
He looks different every time, and the only way to recognize him is the voice he puts on when impersonating Stephen
@@wiegervonstraufenwitz8417 Spot on with every one. 👍😎
"To quantify its bigness would be doing it a disservice."
Found a new line for my Grindr profile
I spit out my drink reading that lmao
Lol
Hahaha best comment I’ve read ever 😅😂😆 using it!
"The vastly big bigness of the dripping thing"
just LOVE Phil, i could listen and watch him all day. Best belly laughs
Phils delivery is just perfect.
"I'm sure the drivers of New Zealand, as they look at the setting sun, are reassured to know... its not there".
That's what triggers Phil the most, even to this day.
Watching Stephen squirm and blush when Phill flirts is one of my favorite things ever.
"I'll not look at you."
@@jacksonlady69 "Dreadful boy"
@@jacksonlady69 I've put the pencil in!
"You're all rotters and I hate you!" :3
You can totally tell that Stephen finds Phill attractive and he uses this to his advantage lol.
I'll always love the delivery of "How big is it?" "Vast. ..Is the answer."
"If I was to quantify its bigness I'd be doing it a disservice".
I love that line and use it often.
"Feet, metres. Throw me a f*cking bone, Fry!"
Biggily Big!!!
I’m surprised they didn’t have that fact handy
biggily big!!! gets me everytime i watch this video
Oh man. The "child buffing workshop" and the "not there. mirrraaaagggee" ones get me everytime lmao
+Vyselink With me, it's "Stephen doesn't have beer goggles, he has madeira _pince-nez._"
+Vyselink I would've wanted to take the shiny into the pokemon direction... I'm such a nerd.
+NerdyPi
In my day, we didn't have shiny Pokémon. We had grey, and darker grey.
NormanMatchem It's weird that they waited so long until we got to Pokemon Black and White when that's how they started out.
Although it was more like green and dark green really.
NerdyPi
Yeah, I never owned an ORIGINAL Gameboy, my first was a Gameboy Colour, so the joke doesn't really work, but I thought it was funny.
The drivers of New Zealand, as they see the sun setting, are reassured to know..... that it's not therrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeee.
It really was an oscar worthy delivery... if only he was acting
As a New Zealander I can say I was reassured
6:35
I love this one because it's one of the few times where the pedanticism of the QI klaxxon is objectively wrong. The common sense answer that if the light of the sun reaches you, then it's there has far more value, because light bends (or space-time bends and light goes straight) so, there never was an objective answer to the question apart from the observer.
The one thing that pisses off phill more then anything else, I love it.
The child buffing workshop is one of the most hilarious thing that I have ever seen, can't stop chucking even after the credits rolled. How did he come up with that for god's sake!!
Seen it at least ten times now, still has me in stitches. The chemistry between Phil and Stephen is great in this show.
Because “shiny” is such an odd thing to call a child. I agree though, the bit is unbelievably funny.
.... probably meant shiny as in "a shiny new baby" ???
Poor Stephen. We know what he means and where he's coming from, but, the poor chap, not with this cohort of comedians. They will be like a terrier dog, grab one corner and run with it until there's nothing left.
The child buffing and the Aropolis scenes will pop into my head at an idle moment and make me lol.
More... sherry m' dear??? I mumble that to myself quite a lot.
"More lacquer, Little Boy??" LOL
You are the shiniest one...
I'm still alive in here!
Baaaaah. Baaaaah
I can see my face in your face
Phill's reaction to the Santa claxon had me in stitches xD
Welcome to the club. Phil is a spitting image of a friend of mine and he puts me in stitches every time he opens his mouth.
Rudolf Trost stop putting it in his mouth then 😂😂😂
@@Mrcheckpointeh but Phil had the pencil in and everything! 😂
These clips are the reason why Phil Jupitus is my absolute dream contestant for Taskmaster.
You think he would be the one holding up Tim Key’s tradition of silly outfit?
I can only imagine he would be the perfect mix of rhod gilbert and jo brand
Phil and Stephen both need to be on Taskmaster together!
"How big is it? Oh, very big. If I was to quantify its bigness I would be doing it a disservice. To say just how biggly big the vastly big bigness of the dripping thing is."
It almost sounds like something out of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. At the very least, it has the same appeal to me.
Actually, "I dare say that the drivers in New Zealand as they see the sun setting are reassured to know that its not there" kinda has that feel to it too
Well he is trying to mimic Stephen :P
My thoughts exactly, the drivers in New Zealand one almost got me thinking if it was an excerpt from the guide
Magmafrost13 Either the Guide or the White House
The Producer of this show, John Lloyd, was the producer of HHGG.
@@wratched But the books were written by Douglas Adams, and I assume the guests do their own jokes.
My favorite is "What kind of hellish quiz is this?" A perfect reaction to QI.
Phill Jupitus is the only QI contestant who can get the better of Stephen Fry and it is SO much fun to watch him do it!!
+E! Carroll agreed. I wish he was on more like he was in the first seasons.
+OrAngeAnArchy Perhaps he will be now that Never Mind the Buzzcocks has been cancelled.
+E! Carroll Yes, but now Stephen is retiring from QI. It's a cul-de-sac.
+EnoVarma there's always the Christmas episode which it looks like he is going to be in, like usual.
Well..... Sean is quite good at it too, Alain and Bill and Jimmy is very decent at it as well.....
I'm sure the children who see Santa in the night sky are reassured to know, that's he's not therrreeee.
Alex Heathcote miraaaaaage
But Santa... is theeeere!
@@SamuelThomasFraser No.... Miraaage..
Santa Travels so fast that if you do see him, it's the Santa from last year, not this year, because that light is still hanging around while Santa This Year's light is still moving too fast to be seen.... get it? you're not seeing Santa....
Miraaaaaaaaaaaaage
Phill might be the QI-panelist who is best at riffing on Stephen. Bloody genius!
No he's just a mirage
Him or Bill Bailey.
Sean Locke gets some good ones in as well.
Yeah..
*genius
I will forever love Phill's madeira pince-nez remark.
I have wanted it as a t shirt ever since I saw that bit 😂.
Not there......

The way Phil turns to look at the "BECAUSE HE ISN'T REAL" screen, it feels like the plot twist of some sci-fi/horror thriller, like he's broken into what he thinks is Santa's Workshop at the North Pole but it's actually all just a simulation and the evil AI computer is telling him the truth
"A smaaaaaallll sherrrryyyyy"
I say that to myself every once in a while.
Eight minutes and twenty-two seconds is NOT enough time for all Phil Jupitus's best moments.
first time i have seen him and laughing beginning to end..man is hilarious
Child buffing workshop was hysterical, made even more so by the sound of Sarah's laughter...
I like that Phil has referenced the Sun incident later on, even after Sandy Toksvig took over.
It's like when Rich Hall says "which moon are we talking about?"
love his reaction to Hugh's photo when he said drip, he is so offended for Hugh XD
"oi, leave my friend out of it!"
He was just playing along with the joke. Hugh played a drip on their show together, so it was a joke on his character's persona.
They were Jeeves and Wooster and that photo of Hugh is taken from then. Hugh also played the piano skilfully in that series so his recent album is not a surprise to us old Brits.
I can't believe you left out "Fry, put on the 15 denier and see me in my study."
Fry, you oaf! Those are fishnets!
I'd watch a show of Phil Jupitus narrating the life of Stephen Fry.
That would be an hilarious episode
Do look for Phil’s radio documentary about Calvin & Hobbes. It’s awesome.
Now imagine a follow-up program which was Fry narrating the production process of this project.
What a brilliant idea.
"Fry you oath, those are fishnets!!"
The run to Stephen at the end is so heart warming 😆
"Madeira Pince-Nez & The Child Buffing Workshop" really ought to be a band name.
See them live performing their greatest hits "More Lacker" and "It's Not There"
FederalPolice620 I personally felt that "More Lacquer" was a lot of flash and little substance.
Stick around for their power ballads, "The Vastly Big Bigness of the Dripping Thing" and "The Master of the Bathtub"
A great follow-up to "No Wonder Fuckin' Twinings Had You On, Pal".
Can anyone get me Sherry Monocle's autograph?
Phil Jupitus is genuinely one of the most charming people I’ve ever seen on tv. Him making Stephen blush is just amazing
4:32 Alan choking on the Swazzle, I've just been in stitches, hilarious
"Stephen doesn't have beer goggles, he has Madeira pince-nez."
THANK YOU!! I never got what that was, and just trying to guess the spelling was getting me nowhere. :)
Gorm Kjeldsen it's French for a pair of spectacles that hold on by pinching (pince) the nose (nez).
Lol I also must thank you for this. Always wandered what he was on about!
over playing the joke
More madeira a small sherry
I have to admit
I really do get a warm little glow whenever Fry does his General Melchett _"Baaaaa!"_
I can't help it
You are not the only one
Can someone at QI please make a collection of as many of Phill's impressions of Stephen as they can find?
“Oh Pudsey make him stop” should be in there too.
2:07 I just love this part. Steven's "Madeira Pince-nez" and "Sherry Monocle" never fails to make me laugh. ❤
Phil: I hate this show
Phil's daugher: I work for this show
Though seriously, Phil is an absaloute joy on QI
I love the moment when Phil runs and hugs Stephen, althought it's a joke it' is still wholesome and cute.
Absolutely superb! But I was so hoping that the "Oh Pudsey, make him stop!" moment would be here too.
Not a Q.I. moment, but whenever I see PJ I'm reminded of his telling of the time his 16 year old daughter's boyfriend was coming for a 'sleepover'. He was hilarious as he became increasingly foam-at-the-mouth about some 'spotty runt daring to imagine he could get into my little girl's bedroom let alone her knickers'. He is a fantastic story teller.
Is there a clip of this on CZcams?
@@Real_Dystopian I have no idea, sorry.

What episode is this one?
we dont talk enough about how much phil and the child buffing workshop saved stephen from that awkward "well, young lady, when you do bear children" moment with sarah
Yeah. Sometimes it can be incredibly off-putting when you are reminded that beloved figures are just as unlikeable as everyone else.
@@joyphil4399 Remember when he said (off the show) that victims of sexual abuse should just get over it? Or that women escaping the Titanic wouldn't be very useful in the boats?
@@DaveDexterMusic I genuinely haven't heard of the first example and, to be clear, if he did say that, that's utterly deplorable. However, given your misrepresentation of the second example I'm not sure I should take your word for it.
He was simply making the point that the seamen trained to man the boats in those days would have been necessary, as the "women and children" in question would not have been trained to navigate. To be fair, he should have mentioned that the rich businessmen would have been useless too, but they weren't in question during the discussion.
@J H It's a bit of a faux pas to say 'when', not 'if', like it was inevitable that Sarah would have a child some day just because she's a woman.
@J H cos purposely childfree women are a bit tired of constantly being told that having children is a "when" as if they dont have an option
I love the way Sara says “a shiny one?”
"play your cards right" has to be the best joke in history 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is when I fell in love with Phill Jupitus...
"Good vendor of shoes! How many barleycorns am I this fine morning?"
Going back like 3 years now, but my sister and I went to Edinburgh for the Fringe as we always do. Phil was on and I thought 'he's pretty funny on QI, should pop in and see him'- so we did. Sat down and quickly realised that this wasn't a comedy show and he was, in fact, giving a lecture on art. The two of us surrounded by uni students and art buffs... gave it a couple of minutes and had to surreptitiously leave.
I know this isn't Phil but 4:34 made me laugh so hard; its juxtaposition with Phil's bit just made it even more hilarious
It fits the comedy rule of 3
5:22 is the exact moment he realizes he's about to hear something that infuriates him xD
Love Phil's impersonation of Stephen on the pull! "More madeira?"
I love how most of these were just him mocking Stephen
Stephen is *such* a good sport about it all! 😁
"I don't sound like that. ...Baaaah!"
Perfect, he sounded just like Melchett.
I love Phil. But I love Stephen’s reaction to Phil, even more.
I love his vocal caricature of Stephen.
NOOOO. NOT THERRREE.
Using the swazzle to imitate a laugh killed me!
Was expecting "GOOD VENDOR OF SHOES..."
HOW MANY BARLEYCORNS AM I THIS FINE DAY?
GOOD SIR, YOU'RE A BARLEYCORN TOO FAR FOR THIS SHOP, I WAGER!
Holy shit, the sound Alan made with the swozzle thing almost genuinely injured me
Brilliant compilation. That last clip of the Christmas QI was hilarious.
It was great. I prefer the "Child-Buffing Workshop" one myself.
Close run thing that Vyselink - but the reaction to the Klaxon when Brendon O'Carroll stated a certain someone "Might not be real" - had me in stitches!!!
+The scribble file Had me in tears! LOVED IT
I need to commission an artist to make a really dramatic interpretation of the seen where Phil’s Childhood is shattered before his eyes as he stares at the wall reading “Because he isn’t real”
How does Phil sound more like Stephen Fry than Stephen Fry
8:09 Well, that beats my fanfiction
"Sir! Sir! Fry's got a hammer and chisel and he's carving out War and Peace!"
"Frow me a fucking bone, Fry-boy!"
Cervisiam lentium = beer goggles (lenses) in Latin
I need to steal the term 'Madeira Pince-Nez'
They missed the best one. His reaction to Teri Hatcher's innuendo-laden examination of fossilized remains was absolutely priceless.
@@jonnybartrand2120 Then I hope they do an up-dated version, because his interaction with Teri Hatcher was one of the most hilarious bits I have ever seen on Q.I., right up there with 'David Mitchell and The First World War', and 'They say of the Acropolis, where the Parthenon is'; those are my top 3!
I love Stephen Fry so much. He and Phil are so great together. I love when Phil scandalizes him. I really miss him on this show
I would love this video, but "It's not there!".
+Muppio "its a Mirage....."
The viewers in New Zealand blinded by the wonderfulness of this clip are reassured to know... that it's not there
That final clip is heartbreakingly sweet - and Stephen, hero of the hour!! 😁😁
"One if you play your cards right" ;) ;)
Some of the many moments that make Phil Jupitus one of my favourite guests of the show :)
I'm surprised the Newcastle thing never made it.
FYI: The answer that Stephen should have given at 3:50 is that the stalactites in the "Gruta Rei do Mato" in South America (a cave) measure up to 66ft long.
No. Vast....is the answer.
Funny how the vast majority of Phil's best clip are him ripping into Stephen. Not that I'm complaining, it's just an observation
I think Phil is the only panelist who could crack Stephen up consistently.
Hands down my favourite Qi guest, you can always guarantee your in for a good Qi episode when jupitus is on, love that man!
Phil narrating at Stephen's funeral.
"Stephen Fry's enemies will be reassured to know that he's no longer there.
Unfortunately since Anne Widdicombe died from that fall down a flight of stairs... and then off a cliff... and then off Kilimanjaro. That no enemies of his remained."
I saw Phill Jupitus when he was on tour and came up to Shetland, absolutely brilliant! I always love when he's a panelist.
Brydon Sinclair I saw him in Aberdeen, he talked very fondly about his time in Shetland
I love the banter Phil and Stephen have 😂😂
5:21 - The moment you see Phil die a little inside.
Phil, i acknowledge your awesome orwell joke. bravo. lol indeed
Seen these 100 times and they are still just as funny as the first time 🤣
The child buffing workshop won't ever stop me cracking up.
Phill, Jo Brand and Johnny Vegas were all my favourites on the show when i watched it XD
At least whenever I get to new Zealand I know there's no need to be worried about being blinded at sunset it is simply not there. phew
Any Phil Jupitus response is a treasure, but my favorite is, ...Best production of 'Westside Story, EVER!"
Phils reaction to the santa isnt real klaxon is perfect
Gruta Rei do Mato means "Cave of the Forest King" in Portuguese. The name divides into Gruta (cave) and Rei do Mato (Forest King).
The limestone area north of Belo Horizonte is called the Sete Lagoas Formation, in which the Lagoa Santa Karst developed. The area around Sete Lagoas has many cave systems, of which the Gruta Rei do Mato is the most widely known. The cave has four large chambers with numerous stalactites, stalagmites and rimstone dams. In the "Rarities Hall" are nearly identical parallel columns, formed by the calcium carbonate crystals of calcite. These columns are more than 20 m (66 ft) high and 20 m (66 ft) in diameter.
I know this is a best of compilation, of the lovely Mr. Jupitus, but I love when Alan nearly chokes on the swazzle...as it were haha.
I think it’s the face he keeps making, as he tries to make his swazzle work; it’s just hilarious how confused, and, at the same time, worried he looks about the whole thing haha.
6:07 Stephen soft „I know“ gets me every time
"More...more lacquer little boy? You are the shiniest one, we shall put you in the Harrods' window!" That whole sequence has me in stitches every time (along with the 'Madeira pince-nez'! ;-) )
Phil is at his funniest with Stephen as his target! 🤣
Phill took only 10 seconds to come up with "Madeira Pince-nez", which is easily the funniest thing anyone could have said in that situation
I love how Phil's Stephen Fry impersonation always has a nod to Melchett.
He is brilliant 😁
Needed the “And Madam, might I tell you I’ve been a very naughty baby?” Titanic clip.
I met Phil at the London Olympics and he was really nice and took a photo etc with me!
a Huge Hole in Your Heart when he departs. even just the screen or the room.
Thank You for giving us Phil Jupitus. Our Laughs are Complete and Whole.
I love his response of “FRY: CAMBRIDGE!” Very quick on the draw!
*MORE LACQUER LITTLE BOY*
Phill is my absolute favourite Q.I panellist. Noble and Millican very close by :)
The way Phil winds Stephen up absolutely slays me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He is one of those comedians one can only truly enjoy when they have watched a lot of his content and can start to slightly comprehend the way humour is processed in his brain
