- Magnus Carlsen Just Hit Warp Speed 10 in the recent Superbet Chess Rapid and Blitz chess tournament. Magnus Carlsen with white here and chasing Wei Yi, playing against Anish Giri and we saw truly some epic chess and one of the most exciting chess finishes in living memory. What a remarkable chess tournament!

I was stuck behind the glorious, anti-Google firewall for months (itâs a great achievement of the Chinese government, always doing whatâs best for its citizens) and the best thing about being on the sinful, excessive, Western-dominated side of that wall is watching Epic Chess videos to learn about the secret behaviors of top chess players. I already knew they made woooshing noises when they moved their bishops 4+ squares at a time, but now I know that Marlsen sometimes makes gobble gobble noises when he captures pieces. I plan to incorporate this tactic into my own game and I can already picture my opponents cowering in fear when I do. Great stuff.

After so watching so many of Magnusâs exploits on this channel, I felt compelled to celebrate his majesty in some way. So I carved a 3 foot wooden statue of him; with one arm raised up with a fist on the end. Then I placed it next to the front door of my house. Now whenever someone stops by for a visit, before theyâre allowed inside I insist that they first give it a fist bump. If only you could see the look on their face when they do so! Itâs quite clear that even the people who donât play chess can FEEL his power.

As a Star Trek fan, I must protest. No captain in the history of the Federation ever said "warp speed 10". The "speed" aspect is tacit. The best player of all time missed mate in 3 with Rb8+. Yeah. I saw it instantly and my highest rating was 212 BCF in 1971. I think you over-rate Carlsen. He's an excellent player, but I wouldn't rate him the best of all time.

@@maheshdawani5933 Firstly, it's Fischer, not Fisher, and secondly - no he was NOT over-rated. Give me another player who has won 20 consecutive games against top level grandmasters. Don't bother - you can't.
@@MrHistorian123 Magnus went undefeated for 125 classical tournament games, the longest undefeated streak ever. Those 125 opponents averaged ELO 2745, giving Magnus ELO 2882. Fischer might have.... except he didn't.
@@jeffcarty3292 Fischer's peak rating of 2785 was 95 above the second player (world champion Boris Spassky). Carlsen's rating is nowhere near that dominant (currently 25 ahead of Caruana who is second) and all ratings have inflated massively since 1972. A rating of 2690 would put Spassky 37th in the world now.
