250 million Euros sounds almost cheap or good value for full desalination to fill a lake with freshwater that is then redirected to where they choose especially for their agriculture , Some prudent fore planning. In the Uk it would be priced billions and eventually cost 3 times the original estimate and for the 1st 10 years not be fit for purpose.

@@RadioKaos1987 Never underestimate the UK government or Devolved institutions to come up with half baked money consuming projects, but given the water shortages that England endures, desalination plants have been considered , though I am waiting for them to come up with a giant pipe out of Loch Ness to keep the thames flowing😃🦕Thames Water’s £250m desalination facility out of action amid supply capacity doubts see the guardian for that one.

Desalination needs to be carefully balanced. Circulating the salt back into the sea may cause poisoning of water species and other living things. It is not all free of problems.
The US Southwestern States should take a page from Israel playbook and get their water issues in order. Don’t wait for the Feds you’ll be caught up in the bureaucracy for years to come.
Come share the same incentive of ocean water desalination with Kenya dry north and Somalia. We are boarded by the Indian Ocean no government on either side think of this insight.
Ask the UN to fund this.
Don't know about Somalia, but in Kenya, many Israeli companies are consulting and running projects of water conservation, Agro-Science, and energy.

The US gives Jordan, Egypt about 6 billion is foreign aid. Are you going to complain about that? The US will pay about 500 million for border security for Jordan, Oman and Egypt this year alone. 75% of Israeli foreign aid has to be spent on US workers and materials and this clearly benefits the US more.
