I recently installed a hydraulic top-link on my Kubota tractor (MX5400) and thought others may be interested in the installation process. I picked up my hydraulic top-link kit from my local dealership. I made a couple of mistakes, so you won't duplicate them. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video, sir. One piece of advice: as a rule, you aren't supposed to use teflon tape on hydraulic fittings. Most don't require it, and if you do have a leak, use liquid teflon. If a piece of that tape makes its way into your hydraulic system, it can cause severe damage. Most people will go their whole lives without an issue. But if you are one of the unlucky ones, you'll never use that tape again 🙂
You did a good job and looks like a good cylinder, but I think before using it you need to install a check valve on it. That does several things. it will lock you cylinder in position and prevent reverse flow. In some situations, say you have a box blade on your tractor and catch the top of a tree stump, it could force more pressure back into the pump that could cause damage.
Hey thanks for the tip, much appreciated…first time installing and using. Thank you!!
Just an FYI... you can't use float function on your implements, if you install a check valve. Of course, that isn't an issue if tractor doesn't have float.
Not sure how this will be affected when connected to an implement, but I would consider rotating the upper fitting to only have a single radius in the upper hose. Best view is at 13:09.
Hey thanks for the tip! I haven’t used it on a lot of implements yet, just getting my feet wet a bit. I’ll know more as I gain a bit more experience with all implements. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Thank you Sir!
You are welcome!
Great video. I hadn't thought of that as a solution and would be very helpful. Please do a review of it after using it. Thank you.
Thanks, will do!
Can you show the 3rd function valve set up?
Sure, I’ll do a short when I get some time. I should have shown it a bit more…
20 minutes? Could have been 20 seconds
