As far as we know, Ajay left everything Kyrat after realizing his Mother's wish, leaving everything with the Golden Path (even if it wasn't a decision he liked, after seeing what they were doing with Kyrat), and they probably FOUND said Nukes. Ajay definitely has no reason to attack America. Sabal or Amita, however... those assholes could have their own reason.

It's not really that unrealistic. If you listen to the news on the radio in FC5 you can hear them talk about high tensions in the world and the threat of nuclear war. A lot of people think Joseph detonated the nuke which is completely unrealistic and not true.

Edit; why would anyone want to nuke an strategically useless place such as rural Montana… that’s like nuking the Mojave or the Everglades where the population per mile is in the single digits if at all and there’s really not much strategic infrastructure or resources there at all. To give a good example, it’s like burning down an abandon run down building. People aren’t going to cry or be very much hurt by it.
I love how Far Cry 5 alone has a faceless protagonist. It's meant for us to project onto the character, so when Joseph said that it's our fault, it really is 'cause most of us played FC4. Better than expected tbh

But I don't think telling a story is their goal - I think what they wanted is to give you an experience. Ubisoft isn't stupid, they wouldn't just discard it for one game, especially considering previous, games, especially the most successful one had a very talkative asshole protagonist.

It's hilarious how many times they gave you the chance to kill him, always wanting you to do so, in a sort of dark comedic way.
Especially the very, VERY, slow helicopter ride Pagen takes as he leaves during the 3rd or 4th chance you get and you're just sitting there as he talks to you through the mic like the devs were tempting you to do so.
It always left me thinking

Feels like Ajay would be the least likely person to set out nuclear war cause I remember that Ajay didn't even get to be in control of the Golden Path even though he was the heir and the only one who did most of the heavy lifting. Nope, Sabal or Amita just straight up took control and remind Ajay to know his place.
It's either Amita or Sabal, depending on who you sided with that activated those nuclear weapons. These two were obviously greedy with power so it wouldn't be too far fetched if they were the ones who set the nuclear off. Maybe another civil war this time in Kyrat led them to accidentally set nuclear missiles to Montana? Who knows? There are several possibilities.

Pagan Min was legit the only villain in the series where I couldn't hate him if I tried, Vaas was a funny luny, and Joseph was like an maniac that coped under religion until it broke his mind. I'd say Joseph was the only one to get me so intrigued into the story to the point he kinda scared me a little with how he acted.

Hard to say, probably Pagan after FC4s secret ending, that would make the most sense. The tape is probably made during one of FC4s main endings, where also FC6 takes place (which would open up the question of happened with the nukes in that case)

sadly a lot of people don’t like the far cry games after 3, i personally love them all and their stories, personally i believe that far cry 6 was a let down the game play and content is really fun but the story is just boring and not very interesting to me the DLCs is what saved the game for me
I dont think Ajay was the one who detonated the bombs, maybe the Golden Path betrayed Ajay sometime after 4. Ajay had a falling out with the Golden Path since taking the throne from Kyrat realizing their ways were truly wrong for the country, he knew it would be trouble if GP had found out about the nukes Pagan left behind and tried to keep it a secret, but the GP eventually found out and possibly someone from them had detonated the bombs upon discovering it. Ajay intended to destroy the bombs or at least disarm and hide them.
Maybe Ajay saw how fucked up everything has become after Bhadras fate either becoming the tarun matara (sabals ending) or getting supposedly "sent away" (Amitas ending)so he killed either sabal or amita

I just noticed in far cry new dawn when you activate a computer in the expedition to get sam fisher outfit the map it displays shows the usa and india where kyrat is,it is in red it can be sure that they fired nukes at each other
Kyrat borders Bihar and Tibet. Nuclear exchange between Kyrat and the US would damage India and China as well.
So that might also mean that those countries retaliated as well.

I have two theories to this ending.
#1 Ajay nuked Montana. His reasoning for this was that Russia, China, and North Korea went to war with the US. He decided to nuke the US as a way to prevent their nukes from hitting his area. Even if Kyrat isnt directly hit the nuclear fallout will still cause issues. To put it simply Ajay launched nukes at Montana to prevent Kyrat from being caught in the crossfire.
#2 Ajay had nothing to do with it. In fact America had everything to do with nuking themselves. Remember when Willis stated the CIA was clearing out of Kyrat because Pagan no longer represents a clear and present threat? I think the CIA knew Pagan had nukes in his arsenal and stayed in Kyrat to locate them. I think the CIA acquired these nukes in Kyrat and sent them to hit Montana as a false flag operation. As nuclear missiles coming from the Eurasian area would be considered enough cause for retaliation. In short the nukes were used by the CIA to launch at their own soil as a way to justify retaliation against Russia, China, and North Korea.

So Far Cry 3 connects with Far Cry 6 whilst Far Cry 4 connects with Far Cry 5. It's honestly amazing how well they connect the games. Especially with this unexpected connection where Ajay Ghale (Or someone else like Sabal or Amita) launched the nukes to Hope County Montana
I think they are all connected because on far cry 6 McKay literally mentioned Kyrat and mentioned Montana because of a dude who was in far cry 4 (I forgot his name but he always was in an airplane and dropped Ajay in the snow all the time)

There’s even a mission in far cry 6 that has a bliss plant (the plant used to make bliss, the main drug in far cry 5) with the project at Eden’s gate logo on it where you sniff the plant and see hallucinations

In my last Far Cry 4 game I killed Sabal, shot down Pagan's helicopter, and mowed down Amita when she started conscripting child soldiers. In other words the Collapse ending in 5 would be impossible since all culprits for the launch are dead. Unless Ajay launched them by accident trying to get rid of them or something. Nukes are dangerous things and difficult to obtain, yet Pagan got an under palace stash ready to hit America for agent Huntley's interference. How did he get them?
Perhaps a certain arms dealer gave them to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Jackel who gave pagan those ICBM's, considering he was someone who wanted to see the world burn. Perhaps he had done his research on pagan's past and decided to give him the nukes since he new that the conflict in Kyrat would soon reach the outer world. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if Pagan just ended up snapping one day and decided "fuck it" and blew up America. I mean the only reason he probably didn't was because he wanted to see Ajay again, and the Jackel somehow exploit that and was like "well if you aren't going to do it someone else you know will eventually." And we haven't even gotten into the Golden path, Ajay or anything. They to could have been like "fuck you America." Especially Ajay, after everything he's seen, from witnessesing the death of friends and his mother to staright up being betrayed by the CIA and the Golden path, and let's not forget about Bhadra. In her ending if it's Amita or Sabal does never end well. In other words, The possibility of Kyrat being a lost cause was high and the Jackel somehow knew. And as insane as he is, he is also a fucking mastermind. It's far fetched but it's also a possibility.
if kyrat seems an independent state in tibet, china is probably fracured, so a black market for nukes may be pretty booming atm. (although china does not have nukes that can reach monatana from tibet but whatever xD)

All Far Cry games are cannon (except Blood Dragon as I think this is just Comedy spin-off and a movie in Far Cry 5), Far Cry 6 just takes place before 5 or 4

There is a flag on the beach and it is the Eden's Gate flag combined with the US flag (same one in Dutch's bunker after Joseph kills him). Also in far cry 3 you can see an easter egg where it's something about the Abstergo company from assassin's creed and I think Jason says the company sounds familiar so maybe the assassins creed series also ends in nuclear war

Honestly. I see that joseph is actually saving hope county. He prefer to see them die knowing that god (Or prediction hallucinations) will deliver them from heaven. Than to suffer in the hands of the nuke holocaust

Idk how I feel about this ending. What motivation would Ajay or the Golden Path have to nuke the US? And maybe I'm looking into this too much but Pagan wanting to nuke the US seems like too much of a radical unnecessary escalation, even for a guy with as many screws loose as Pagan.
Another thing I just thought of is that even with Pagan's money that seems pretty ridiculous that Kyrat of all places could get ICBM's.
Ajay would be the last person who wants to use the nuke. I Believe it could be Sabal or Amita because they are even worse than Pagan. Could be after Sabal/Amita took over, USA demands something in return for helping them take out Pagan (CIA, Weapon, money,.....) and Sabal/Amita got pissed and launched those nukes.

For me I theorize that ajay realized that sabal or amita were terrible leaders especially with nukes being hidden in kyrat. So he goes to stop(whoever didn’t die we’ll go with sabal to make it easier to explain), during the new civil war sabal learns of the nukes. So he sets a plan if ajay does succeed in killing him nukes will be sent to end the world since hey he’s gonna be be dead regardless why not leave the world with a final fuck you.
It's simple. He got pushed around very easily. I mean, you give him a task and a slap on the shoulder and he starts gunning down everything that lives. It's not hard to imagine that he became a bloodthirsty fuckhead after joining the Golden Path.

Every story has its own characters, we dont know if they're good or bad, we always see them repel the enemies as we see them good people, but always at the end of the real story we always see the actual truth on whos actually bad, ngl far cry franchise is actually soooo fucking good like how all the games are connected, well not all of them, such as Far cry 4 , 5 and other far cry games aswell, really didnt get much of primal, new dawn and aswell other games, only following its numbers
They are all connected even primal, you fight the descendants of your tribe in farcry 4 also Connor from assassin's Creed 3 is a decedent of the guy from primal
