Here's my version!
1.i saute garlic and onion first follwed by the meat. I season it with salt and pepper. Then add water and bring it to boil until tender.
2.on a separate pan i panfry the potatoes and carrots just like what fumiya and yuya did. I set it aside when it is almost cooked
3. Then when the beef is tender, i add the tomato sauce or the caldereta ready mix and add the vegetables (potato and carrots) and have bellpeppers last
CNN H thanks for sharing your version. I’ll try it too but it will be vegan. I will use mushroom and tofu for protein. Then I will make a tomatoes sauce from real whole tomatoes. Then for the seasoning I will use the oyster sauce.

You should stir fry beef first with minced garlic and chopped onions and then add potato and carrots once the beef is brown.....then add water and let it boil then add caldereta sauce and green bell pepper until its cook.

I know this was last year ago but this is the first cooking video of Fumi that I was able to watch so I will comment on how you cooked it just what you asked.
You cooked it right and that is Actually the basic way of cooking it speacially for begginers.
But here in the Philippines, we use a lot of spices to make it more tasty.
The other condiments/spices you missed are.
onion,garlic,pepper and salt to taste , bell pepper, liver spread,tomato paste ( but since you have a ready mix of caldereta that suits also.
First you need to heat the pan, put the oil then put the Gralic and Onion.
then put the Beef. Then cover it to see the changes in color. When it is almost cooked. put the tomato paste.
then put a right amount of water depending on the much meat you have.
Then put the vegetables. ( based on what you guys did, you fried the Potato and carrot first, But here in the Pilipinas, we cook the meat first because the meat needs a longer time to be cooked than the vegetables. That is why your potato and carrot and so soft.)
After the Carrot and potato, You can now put the bell pepper, pepper, and the liver spread. then mix well. then cover to be cooked well.
You can test if the potato, carrot are half cooked, you can use a fork to test if it is soft enough /
then also test if the meat are ready .
taste then spread salt to taste.
This cooking of caldereta Needs longer time ... That is why it is more tasty and more Filipino way.
At the end of the day all cooking varies.and are the same.
Goodluck on your next cooking fumiya. I hope this helped. I wish you would be able to cook another caldereta and eat it with you two brothers and dad.
