Great fire side chat guys. Just took delivery of my 2023 MDX and I do agree with you that Acura should have made the screen a touchscreen as well, but I have had ABSOLUTELY no problems with the touchpad. In fact if it had both options I would still use the touchpad 80% of the time. Why? It is functionally perfect. I feel like Captain James T. Kirk leaning back and working the controls. One thing I would love for Acura to do is add a right turn camera. I have that on my 2015 Accord and you wouldn't believe how many cyclists that has saved me from hitting. HONDA stopped adding it but Genesis and Kia has them. Anyway, I am thoroughly enjoying my MDX, well except for that low MPG...I got 211 miles on my first tank of gas. Hopefully, that get better...but no regrets on the purchase. We were set to buy the QX60 until we stepped behind the wheels of the MDX. It simply had a cockpit sensation and it drove like a sedan. Absolutely love the face that it doesn't drive like a SUV.

100%agree! They have given me an mdx as a loaner and I miss the right side camera as well( I have an integra, had a civic Si). As for the touch screen / touchpad , you worded it perfectly-

Hi guys! I love this honest review! I recently leased an 2023 MDX tech package coming out of a lease of 2021 special edition Honda Pilot. I loved my Pilot and thought that nothing could replace it. There was a special lease offer on MDX so we went to look at them. Wow! The driving experience is totally different! Everything works together in terms of engine, transmission, suspension, all wheel drive system etc. i actually had to test drive it several times to get used to the difference because it was so different at first…so unfamiliar. I can actually listen to the stereo at a reasonable volume with the sound deadening material in the MDX. I had the kick open tailgate on my Pilot and you kind of feel stupid kicking at the rear of your car more than once to find the sweet spot in the grocery store parking lot.😂. Great review! I wish your dealership was closer to my home!

Hi Guys - THX for the Podcast on the 2022 - 2023 MDX . I leased a 22 MDX Advance in August 2021. I overall, truly LIKE this car (I reserve the term LOVE for people/family). After watching the YT reviews in May, June & July and then after getting an Early lease Termination letter from my 2019 MDX Dealer in July which included a $1K Loyalty tpward the lease of a new 22 MDX.I commenced shopping it. I am a shopper - always was - however, after I drove one, I was Hooked : The Looks, LIKED the re-Design, the Handling/ Steering / Ride Quality and yes, the new 10Spd AT tranny is a winner, the comfort of the seating and space. I made my deal with a different Acura Dealer than the one leased the 2019. By shopping I saved about $50 per month on the new 36 month lease payment with all other financial components being equal. After 19 months, th Car still "winks" at me everyday. I really didn't need a 3 row SUV - now that i don't commute for work, or have children at home, but after comparing against the 2021 RDX, even though that car was cheaper, I pulled the trigger - Fathom Blue Pearl / with Gray Leather interior. Yes, subjective, but I was Hooked more so, once I saw that MDX on the Lot !!
Here's my observations from a user after 19 months :
Acura should have offered a Sport Hybrid Model (2018, 2019, & 2020) - more HP, More Torque and at least 15-20% better MPGs. For another $1800 in price (per the past models) that would have been a Complete No-Brainer. In the absence of a Sport Hybrid - they at the least could have Bumped the HP / Torque with some tweaks as a true enhancement.
The TTIP InfoT. sys should have been Both !! Touch pad and Touchscreen. The TTIP is particularly awful when using AA or Car Play (and it's a Android based system). Once you connect it via AA , the Touch pad is absolutely terrible - like a VERY SLOW mousepad that forces me to take my eyes off the road much more.
The Wireless Charging pad is erratic in operation - Please upgrade that ACURA !!
A little less Piano Black - the dust that it collects is a PIA (How do you Clean that ?/)
The MPGs are Not even close to the EPA numbers... Locally (Suburbia NY) which is how I drive mine [predominantly 80% of the time] as a 71 YO, retired guy I'm getting 12-13 MPGs max! Highway trips (to South Jersey - 240 mile roundtrip for a family visit- at 70-75 MPH, I'll get about 24-24.5 MPGs ( a bit lower with "winter" gas here in NY ).
Like the AC controls with easy Buttons, Acura should have added more Radio Controls buttons - for ease of use.
What were they thinking when using the Console USB port which only works when you are Not connected to AA or Car Play?
on the PLUS side. I have found the MDX's Navi system to be great - easy to use, with Voice controls and interfacing with Alexa (which I really don't need either - but went for itor now with AT& T wife service offer at $200 / year.
However, You guys make some good , honest points. No car is "perfect" despite how much you shop. The car makers have it down to a Science to find that perfect vehicle from the Pack for Value, service, etc. I'm going to review your TTIP Instructional Video again.

Your comments on Acura's SH-AWD are spot on. Truly a really really good AWD system.
To your comments about other brands offering certain features similar to luxury marquees. The other brand may offer a heated steering wheel BUT is the whole steering wheel heated. I know the mid trim Highlander offers a heated steering wheel. Toyota is able to market it as such but the whole wheel is not heated. Only the 9 and 3 positions are heated. Also the quality of the leather is different.

Good to see you back and this discussion was probably about the best of your series on Acura. The depth and detail was spot on with the questions I have regarding whether to keep my 2019 MDX Advance or going for a newer Advanced model. Other than a few minor improvements, I think my model is still an exceptional car in it's price range. The serious question for me comes down to the price difference from the standard Advance to the Type S Advance as you pointed out in this piece. Yep, there are extra features such as more power (should have been around 400), improved transmission, air suspension, and brakes each of which are of particular interest to me but not at the current S price. Since I tow a 5000 lb rv and the extra power and brakes would be nice. The only gripe I have with my MDX is the same one I had with my 2016 MDX and that is the transmission is not responsive in D mode. Frankly, it sucks. Feels like an early turbo car with turbo lag. ie. Porsche Turbo. In S mode its better but I surely hope that has been fixed, if not, I'm looking for something else. In this day and age, my transmission trying to figure out did he say go? is not acceptable. I think I'll put another 50,000 miles on mine to make it 100,000 and come see you guys.

I like the idea of less fingerprints on materials, that includes the nav screen.

Thanks for making this video. I appreciate hearing you guys talking so honestly about features that people don't like/want/etc. I wish other brands would do this! I'm commenting as I watch the video, so sometimes I say something and a minute later you guys address it.
I'd sure like to see Acura use a timing chain rather than a belt (11:50). Does the 3.0L V6 turbo motor in the Type S use a chain or a belt? The Type S is high on my list of vehicles. While you're at it, would you please add port injection to your direct injection so I don't get a ton of carbon build up? That would be very considerate of you :-)
Also, please tell Acura that we really don't like their relative position track pad infotainment interface (surely they already know this.) Just give us a touch screen. Oh - just got to where you address this - you get that it ought to be a touchscreen. Good.
And while you're at it, please please please get rid of the piano black plastic! It scratches so easily and very quickly looks ugly. Looks flashy in the showroom but kinda crappy at home. And move that drive mode knob or make it smaller or something.
At 36:45 you talk about the configurability of the MID (digital dash.) Please ask Acura to allow a moving map display on it. I know there's a HUD, and that's great, but I want it available in both places. And just as I type this, you talk about the Audi virtual cockpit. Good 🙂If it's "just a matter of software" then this should be possible without requiring new hardware. I put it in quotes because I'm a retired software engineer and realize how complex software is.
So can the MDX actually be updated over the air (OTA)? That would be great if true! Send us that update with the moving map on the dash (MID.) Thanks!
And lastly, interestingly enough, the Pilot is also near the top of my list along side of the MDX. The bigger size of the Pilot is very attractive, and like the MDX (at least in a couple of trims) I can get the top trim with a 2nd-row bench seat. Yay Acura and Honda! That makes you guys pretty darn unique, at least among Asian brands, like Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, and perhaps others. Offering that 2nd-row bench is a *big* deal if you have 3 kids.

I too wish there was a bigger engine. If the X3 can have it why can’t the RDX!? That my dilemma right now. Personally I DO NOT want another 4-cylinder turbo! So it’s either the X3M40 or MDX. I miss my 2018 TLX -ADV. Had the best camera. Then got a 21 and let you be in the country parts of Louisiana and it’s not well illuminated. Camera ain’t shid! If acura hasn’t resolved that issue I’m just going to turn my lease in and Uber until I find something 😂. Thank you guys for your thoughts.

2023 MDX Having a lot of FAILURES with Apple Car Play staying connected with my iPhone when listening to the radio & also Spotify. Can you only have 1 iPhone total connected to the MDX? FM music just drops out & later back on. My 2012 MDX (TECH. Pkg) was more reliable than my 2023 MDX Entertainment pkg. ACURA RECALL the 2023 MDX & fix this problem! Acura Dealer has reset the system once & the iPhone Bluetooth connection still is critically poor! I have to use a hard wire in 2023? Are you kidding me?
