Hi, ❤ such a beautiful cover. I’m looking to order my first VDS cover. I have the mega weeks, though. I just wanted to confirm that you just extended the strap by 1cm, but didn’t make any other customizations? Also, you put in the notebook and a regular Hobonichi Weeks? Also, do you like the strings? Hi! This is actually the Nomad so it’s made for a standard travelers notebook size, not the Hobonichi weeks, and it comes with the strings included. The version for the Weeks size would be the standard codex. And you would be able to have strings added to it, making it a standard nodex. The VDS names can be a bit confusing 😆 But to answer your question, I did lengthen the clasp by 1cm. I do like the strings but noticed I usually only keep 1 book in my cover. So for my recent custom, I opted to have the strings removed and it’s working great.
The best advice I can give is to join the VDS Facebook group, if you can. There’s a great community there with so many examples of all the customizations you can make and people happy to answers any & all questions. Thank you so much for watching! 😊

Hi 👋, did you get the stiffener as well as the foam? I’m curious about your thoughts on if you like it with the foam or if just the foam feels best to squish? 😆

Hi! I got whatever the default stiffener is for Nomads, which I believe is a full sheet of bontex (but don’t quote me). So it’s very flexible and not hard like the cardboard stiffener would be. I think adding the foam is a subtle difference that just feels really good to squish. It doesn’t make it too plush or bouncy, so it feels just right in the hand for me. Omitting the stiffener might provide even more of a squishy feel but I tend to still like some structure in my covers so I always opt to keep it in there.
