- During our visit to San Diego, we made a stop to tour one of San Diego's most popular attractions, The USS Midway Museum Tour. The USS Midway is a great museum, highly recommended to visit, with many planes, jets, helicopters and giant flight deck. I hope you enjoy this tour.

I was aboard from 1979 to 1981. Some of the best years of my life.
Heading to San Diego in April. I can't wait to visit this museum. Really is breath taking. Thank you for sharing your experience
It shoud be fun, I hope you enjoy it.
I just toured the ship las.t week while there for my Nephew's graduation from MCRD San Diego. Im a Marine myself and I was mostly on LHAs USS Tarawa, USS New Orleans, and USS Belleau Wood. I was impressed with the size of the ship. One of these days I will visit again I am from Az..
I was in the Navy 1982 to 1988 with VS-41 and VS-33 two west pacs AZ2 and the aircraft of my squadron was the S3A sub hunter slow and cound'nt get to mach 1 if she tried but the engine's are on the A-10 Warhog which is great and hearing the whine when a A-10 fly's takes me back...
I went yesterday for the first time and it was so fun
Thank you for sharing, I had shared this to my husband, neither of us has been on the USS Midway since it has become a musuem. I used to date a couple of sailors that were station on the USS Midway, also we had many sailors that used to come into my parents bait shop to buy bait and gear.
That's really cool. Hope you can go there one day.
Awesome I love the Midway Museum! Amazing the scale of this battleship from 80 years ago!
Was on board from September 1973-September 1975 during Operation Frequent Wind.
Frequent Wind was a remarkable piece of Midways History. 75-78. Still have my Cruise Book and enjoy the Memories. Just a dude 69-94
That E2C brings back a lot of memories
@sunset great. I was with VAW-115 LIBERTY BELLS on Midway 75 to 78. Just a dude 69-94
This really is a must see , it’s very interesting and amazing to see
Yes it is. Thank you for watching

That's so cool. Thank you for service.
@@fantabuloustravels Thanks for your support

Thanks for sharing ,definitely on my bucket list 👍
You're welcome 😊
You won't regret if you enjoy Naval History. Just a dude 69-94
man this ship is spotless and well painted idon't see any rust at all and the planes are in great shape the a4 skyhawk is in mint shape i was on the Oriskany in 74-76
I love this place
I’m here because I was told they sent this off to be cut up! Looks like they were wrong. Good! My dad served on this carrier as a crew chief. He worked on F8’s and F4’s. Cool to see it finally!
That's amazing you were able to see where your dad served and worked on.
@@fantabuloustravels It is amazing! Blows my mind that he was in that part of the ship every day for 5 years, less training. Unless the training was on the ship too? I think he had a stint in Huntsville Alabama, or something like that. If it was there. He hated it so bad he almost went AWOL!
I was on board with VA-115 1981-83 and VA-185 1987-89. Went to the 3 Carrier Reunion May 2019. Heading to San Diego for the VA-185 reunion. Will see her again!
That's so cool. Hope you have great time
Enjoyed this!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this 😊
I went there couple of times really! fun
That's awesome! Yes I agree it's really fun.
February 20, 2023 - Today my Dad, CDR Vern Jumper (USN Retired), celebrates his 91st birthday. He is featured in this video and still proudly serves as a Docent at the USS Midway Museum.
Nice good
Thank you 😊
back around 1973 VMCJ1 Marine Composite Squadron
For the first time, I've just went to USS Midway Aircraft with my family twelve years ago.
It's a lot of fun. Thanks for watching!
Ive been to the uss mdway
Thanks for watching
I was never ship's company but rode her six or eight times (with mixed emotions). Among the carriers I rode I hold her second (to Independence - full tour). EMO on Midway told me he was gonna hijack me for LPO and he had a desk reserved for me. I told him that if he had a desk reserved he better find sombody else cuz I don't do desks. Sailors don't come to me; I'll be there, helping (only if needed) in their shop.
I remember I got private access to stay on for a whole day and sleep there
That must of been a cool experience
I would love that. I know they'll escort me to my old work space. 1 deck aft above hgr deck.
A Gang EA04 A/C and R shop 1984 Hell yea
I spent two years on the USS Midway where's the A7 Corsair 2 and we did not fly f14 tomcats that I know of but we caught one because he ran out of fuel one of the crews was lost from the USS Enterprise and we had to catch this guy and we couldn't launch him off we had to Crane him off at the end of the cruise request permission to go ashore..
sir ..., FYI they never flew f-18s off of USS Midway why it is on there I have no idea
How much time would you need to see everything thoroughly at this museum, may I ask?
To really enjoy it you'd need at least an hour. You can also do it in less time or spend even more time there.
is this all there is to it whatever you capture on your camera? is there climbing on the deck to see what is it really inside the big ship?
@@fabmakeup you do climb on the deck. You start going inside then you go on top of of the ship.
What gimble are u using?
I am using DJI Osmo Mobile 3
@@fantabuloustravels ah, that's cool I own one myself.. their very smooth..
Why dont you show below decks? You must be a AirDale And everyone asks me why dont iii go back and see it again I guess after serving on it for 23 Months straight I probable know it better then the people that are on it now. Giveing the tours..
How much time did you spend here if you don't mind me asking just so i may plan my trip
I paid around $26. I got the tickets from their website www.midway.org/visit/buy-tickets/.
You may also find deals from place like Groupon if you want to save on the tickets
