- Things I Wish I Knew Before Playing Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom.
Heather provides useful beginners tips for Revenant Kingdom newcomers. From higgledies and managing Evermore, to levelling up and skirmish battles.
Summary
Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom is a fantastic action RPG where you can build your own kingdom and house citizens, free roam out in the open world, explore towns, dungeons, and other dangerous places dotted around the world. The story follows Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, a young king of Ding Dong Dell who was usurped from his castle and sets out to build a new kingdom, called Evermore, with the help of a few close allies and skirmish armies he encounters on his journey.
These allies are in your party and can be freely controlled in battles where players use magical abilities, melee attacks, and are assisted by elemental creatures known as "Higgledies", which are used to cast spells and grant other combat bonuses. Fantastic game with JRPG mechanics and a brilliant sequel to the first game Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch - set far in the future to when the first game took place.

If you ever see "stinky" shoes in your inventory, do not sell them. I repeat: DO NOT SELL THEM! They are needed for a quest fairly late-game, but only seem to show up early-game. In fact, I'd recommend looking for them before you even get the quest, because by that point, you'll probably already be overleveled. I've searched for almost 100 hours in the dreamer's mazes, looking for a certain merchant, and that one uncompleted quest HAUNTS me. Just some advice if you wanna 100% complete the game (which I really don't advise).
🤦🏻♀️ just saw this and I'm sure I've sold them
I found some then died
I just sold them literally 10 minutes before I read this.... I'm so pissed.
I'm so glad i came to this comment
Just started this myself last night on the switch. I'm not at all bothered about what some reviews say when they say the background is fuzzy and out of focus. The same could be said if you saw France on the White Cliffs of Dover, it's going to be out of focus there too.
I liked it more in the first 5 mins than I did in 1 hour playing Ys 9.
Loving the content keep up the great work!! Cant wait for more of videos and more RPGs.
Thank you! My gaming PC has been broken for weeks but now that its finally fixed, I've got lots of new videos on the way :D
I have been so much into this game, that I didn't even realise when I got the Platinum trophy. I played so much!
Solid advice, straight and to the point very well done. I bought this game and Wrath of the White Witch recently and am currently playing Wrath while watching your wonderful playthrough at the same time. I absolutely love your voice and would love to see a future playthrough of Revenant Kingdom though I could understand if it wouldn't exactly be something you might want to do as it sounds as though even though you enjoyed the game it seemed a little tedious at times.
Thank you :) I have considered doing a playthrough of Revenant Kingdom but I would need to play it again and plan it out first...also, part of me wants to do it but another part of me wants to do a completely different game - like Ghost of Tsushima, Detroit: Become Human, Biomutant, God of War, Tales of Berseria or Arise, a Zelda game, Assassins Creed Origins, Ratchet & Clank or even DOOM! so many games to choose from, i'm spoilt for choice :D haha - Heather
This is a really informative, tight video, really enjoyed it. Also, you've a really good voice for narration!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
I just started playing this game last night and I’ve never touched the first one. So this video really helped me understand what I’m gonna be going into. Thank you so much for the content!
I hope you are enjoying the game so far :) I would highly recommend Wrath of the White Witch if you haven't played it though, its a fantastic game too
Honestly surprised you don't have more subscribers! This is really informative. I'll be recommending you to some friends
Thank you! Hopefully one day we will have thousands of subs, but to be honest we are so grateful to even have 400. When we started the channel we didn't expect to get any :D haha
Thanks for the skirmish tip. I'm doing the few I've unlocked
I've just purchased the entire game with all the addons for an amazing sale price of £11.24 (that's 89% off the full price!). I have just completed my first skirmish. After watching this I can see I have a long and steep learning curve since I have never really played this type of game before. It's going to take me AGES to get anywhere near even half way into this game. Oh well. It will keep my distracted for a long time to come :)
yeah good point, i also purchased the DLC also which will make this even longer, i'm in for a loooooong ride with this one!
The combat is simple yet plays perfectly like a smooth Darkcloud 2. I've been enjoying this one much more than the original.
Now that I think about it, this game is more like a love letter in a lot of aspects to darkcloud 2 and hopefully a hint at a new entry to the series.
Great video, currently playing on expert mode and I definitely will buy this game on switch since it’ll include all the DLC I haven’t played yet
Thanks :) I'm glad you are enjoying the game. A lot of people are put off by how different Revenant Kingdom is from Wrath of the White Witch, but I still love this game! - Heather
@@Amalgamingle I still don’t get the hate surrounding this game, the developers fixed all the problems people had with it and it still isn’t considered a masterpiece. I enjoy the combat in this over the first one, and quite honestly don’t see the hype surrounding the original
@@TrvisXXIII Yeah, there's a lot of things Revenant Kingdom does right and I enjoy the game for what it is. I do think the first game suffers from Zelda Ocarina of Time syndrome whereby some people (like myself) loved the game so much that all games that came after never seem as good haha but to be honest, Wrath of the White Witch is definitely special to me, I love everything about it :D I'm doing a playthrough on the channel at the moment adding episodes every Wednesday haha
Thank you for this. I barely made it through the first game because I detest rpg's (more of a fighting game player) and menus freak me out (almost didn't even play breath of the wild). Just hearing you say the leveling up system and city building and tactic tweaking....my eyes glazed over and I'll probably just try to 100% part one rather than even touch part two. If ya have a let's play of it I will gladly watch that.
The first game is far more rpg-y than the second. first has turn based combat, second is action. none of the systems you mentioned need to be engaged with in any meaningful way outside of very basic story related reasons
You deserve more subs and views
When I first watch this I thought you said skirmishbattles were your favorite I was confused lol either I didn't really want to do it either it thought they were more of a side thing but the game forces you...still my favorite rpg on the ps4
I couldn't seem to pick this up because I couldn't wrap my head around the gameplay 🤣 I didn't even know there's a skirmish battle (what now?). I played the first one but it was a bit too grindy.
I think a lot of people feel that way about the first game, however, I've uploaded a few videos on Wrath of the White Witch giving tips on how to reduce the grind :)
wow, just started playing and having died twice already (do not go against dragons... or big armies when ur level... 12) figured i probably needed some sort of tips. wow it sure gets complicated! i don't have half of those menus... am enjoying it so far.. just wish it had easier saves for less dying.
Awesome game looks like final fantasy I need to get this!! Nice 🙏🙏🙏
If you enjoyed the first game you’ll like this one.
Great video my favorite on Ni No Kuni 2. Just started playing it and I am enjoying it. Try Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak It is my favorite game the combat system is the deepest and best I have used the cats and dogs are a fun addition and it has the best monsters in any game. only down side is a poor story. I was playing pong 3 months before it came out to the public and have been hooked ever since more fun then watching TV.
What a beautiful game.
My ps4 corrupted and i Lost all my saves in this game :(. Thankfully you have Made this video a year ago so i can play the game again with these tips. I hadn't leveled up everything so thanks for the tip xD. Anyways i Will put another comment after i've complete the game again xD. Bye
Edit: alright just defeated the horned one time to kill doloran :D
this edit i'm making 2 years later -.-, started the game again lol
good job
i wish this game had familiars but i get what they were going for.
me too, I 100% prefer the familiars system over the higgledies
how bad can the levelling up be? it took me over 100 hours for platinum of the 1st game, i'm assuming this game will be much more longer 😮😮
you need to upgrade your audio setup
I finished the first part and was looking forward to playing this one. Watching this video I’m gonna uninstall it, what a hot mess, taking a winning formula and throwing it away, what a shame.
It is a great game but very different from the first one. Still worth a playthrough but I can totally understand why you would be deterred
Take paat in thurty skkkkurmashes
I'm 2-3 hours in and my advice to everyone would be play on expert, I'm not someone who enjoys punishing dark souls difficulty type games, but I can't imagine how easy this game would be playing on the lower difficulties
The game does have its difficulty spikes. The tainted monsters can be quite a challenge, and battling Mausinger is a pain in the backside. Other than that the game isn't too difficult :)
Jeez this is worse off compared to the first game…
This game was such a disappointment compared to the original.
It definitely takes some getting used to since its so different from Wrath of the White Witch.
