You see there's this thing called privilege and oppression. The door swings both ways.
I do agree with you. You are an American and nothing more than just a human with your name.
Not based on skin color or ethnicity. None of that really matters... For the most important thing that really matters is your character.
      Just ask Morgan Freeman😊

Because black people were trafficked into the country by slavery and forced to stop speaking their own language, wearing their own clothes, eating their own food and overall doing anything from their free life. He's an actor, not a historian. If he identifies as an American and doesn't care that his great grandmother was African, that's his problem. But undermining an entire movement that works towards giving black people their roots back, that's just simply ignorant and condescending. White people see themselves as American because they stripped themselves of their heritage millenia ago. African American people can't see themselves as anything other than American because they were forced to become American

    • @naimvelasquez6079

@@DontEven-AsIf-Whateveroh color really doesn't matter. Cops are specifically trained to target search and shoot black children because color doesn't matter. Black people get shot for holding their phone in their hands because color doesn't matter. A black boy was sentenced to death for a rape that he didn't commit because color doesn't matter. The issue at hand is that color doesn't matter to YOU. You, my friend, are the one who doesn't care, simply because it doesn't affect you, because you're comfortable in your own bubble of ignorance. That man is an actor, not an activist, not a philosopher and definitely not a historian. Maybe a few classes would serve you and him right.

    Freeman: "It's American history now."
Reporter: "How do we combat racism?"

Exactly, only thing that's different is African is in their background, but doesn't mean that certain people are half African, American, which means that certain people would be 80% American and 20% African, until it's next children depending on the woman or man, they could not have any black in them, so naturally the kids will end up more white instead black, but still carry bit of black DNA in them in their background. Cuz for example say a farmer has a calf that's born gray, but yet the mom is brown and the dad is black, or even yet, a farmer has a calf that's born red but both parents are black? No different than humans, no wonder why they say "throwbacks do happen".

When you label yourself as something it takes away from your own accomplishments. You're no longer a person who tried their best and succeeded, you're just a label. Stop diminishing who you are. @@StiffyLongJohn No, the civil war started without the intention to free slaves. It started over regulations to the slave trade. The South, not appreciating the federal government telling them how to run a legal business, started a war. It was about states' rights and their ability to self-regulate legal businesses at this point. The North put a blockade around the South. Eventually, the UK wanted to get their cotton again and was going to join the war on the side of the South. The North being rightly afraid of the UK responded by freeing the slaves thus making the war about ending slavery. The UK, having already made slavery illegal, could not enter into a war on the side fighting to keep slavery legal. This means that slaves were freed to make or morally impossible for the UK to enter.

I was taught not to judge people except by their actions. I just saw something that disgusted me. It was three Jewish scholars that insisted that criticizing Israel for any reason whatsoever is antisemitic! They basically considered every non-Jew the enemy and had a scale of danger which was really an enemy list based on races that posed a danger to Israel according to their religious belief system! They thought of Jews who integrated themselves into other cultures as traitors! They simply wanted to perpetuate racial suspicion and hate! A more atavistic group of Neanderthals is hard to imagine!

I’m Ukrainian, living in America and I’ve always said “black” to refer to a black person, because in Ukrainian, you either say black, or if you’re racist, there the N word. Those are the only options. I regrettable have racist family members, and some of them done even realize it, saying things like “I just hope no one in the family marries a black person.” My sister and I are the only ones so far married to American men, and I was extra rebellious by having a Mexican daughter at 18. I think my cousins will follow in our footsteps, and maybe half of them will marry Americans, but it might take a few generations for more diversity than white Americans, because of the currently racist family members still living. As someone whos in a mixed race family with people who lool white and have their races pigeon holed as brown or black which makes it seem as though no white looking people have brown family or not black people have white ancestries or families which is unrealistic in this situation, its been the dumbest and most ignorance creating way of describing race. To respectfully know someone elses race or your own races or families journeys it goes a lot further than skin colour. I am sick of people reducing others and themselves to a skin colour, at least the word african refers to a point of family reference or history at some point. If people just make assumptions about someones race based off of their skin colour you just never learn anything about the person or their families. Other people get respect and their countries of origins and families countries communicated respectfully, this whole white and black thing is really dismissive of people and it truly looks like people are just disinterested in communicating clearly and being individuals and rude and are purposely making themselves ignorant of other people

You don't see me calling myself an Irish-American, sure it's thick in my blood, but I wasn't born there. I am an American, we are Americans. That's the beauty of our country, we're all immigrants, whether your white, black, tan, or brown, we were all immigrants at some point. And if you were born here, or have gone through due proccess to become a citizen, then your an American in my book. The only people I could say deserve a special title is Native-Americans because they are the only ones out of all of us to not be immigrants. I stand with Freeman.

It's not true and she is wrong just as you are for agreeing with her. You are an American citizen but this is not your nationality. Just as if a Chinese was born in America, he or she would be a American citizen because of their birth in this land. But they have a nation which is China the land they are originally from. Which would then make them Chinese American. Shalom

@O Ysra'l that's not how it works, you actually said the opposite. If you are born here , you are a us citizen. China wouldn't have you documented at all since you weren't born there. Therefore, you aren't a chinese citizens. What your describing is ethnicity or background. If you were born in China, then migrated here and got citizenship that makes you chinese American. It's common sense
